[NAVOSA RUGBY] Kaicolo cup to begin on 28th April

The inaugural Kaicolo Cup will now begin on 28th April and Navosa Rugby Union President, Jay Whyte with a total of 16 teams from around the province vying to finish at the top. “We’ve had an overwhelming response from all the different clubs” Jay said. “The main winner will receive FJ4000 along with the Kaicolo Cup Tanoa,” he added. There are also other major prizes for the top teams with the runner up taking home FJD1000 and the losing finalists each winning FJD500. Winners from the 2 zones will receive the Qulewe or Nawaibalavu Shield before playing for the major Kaicolo Cup. For most of the young players, the Kaicolo Cup gives them another timely opportunity to showcase their skills as the Navosa Rugby Union will be holding its trials shortly after the competition ends (See back page for competition draws and more details) For more information please contact Jay Whyte on 9297337 or Kelevi Sauradu on 9513044.

Flying start for navosa rugby! avosa Rugby has had a flying start to its 2012 season with an amazing display of grassroots rugby at its best that was showcased during its inaugural Tako Lavo 10s tournament.

The tournament was held on March 16-17 at Vatureba Park, Navosa. Out of the 24 club teams, Nasaunivalu Club in Navosa came out winners and took home the FJD1000 prize money sponsored by Sigatoka River Safari.

Leading up to the 2 day tournament, Jay Whyte, President of the Navosa Rugby Union said the tournament will provide an opportunity for all players from all areas to showcase their talents. “This tournament was created as a way to build a solid foundation for the Navosa Rugby Union and to create pathways for our grass roots boys to potentially make it in the world of rugby,” Jay said. “We are happy with the support from people of Nadroga/Navosa in coming out in numbers to support the tournament,” Jay added.
