yndi Roberts Yoga and Yoga Center of Collinsville (YCC) announce a new workshop for both yoga teachers and expecting yoga students. Yoga Alliance registered teachers that complete the program earn 4 Continuing Education Contact Hours in the Yoga Alliance categories of Teaching Methodology, Techniques, Training & Practice, Anatomy & Physiology and a certificate of completion. This workshop will be held on Saturday, December 10. There are three sessions for yoga teachers and one session for students. The first session for teachers is from 1 to 2 p.m. and consists of lecture providing the knowledge needed to teach yoga to pregnant students. The focus of the content will be on modifications for yoga postures based on contra-indications for expectant mothers. In the second session from 2:30 to 4 p.m., Roberts will lead both pregnant students and yoga teachers through a yoga class where students will learn and practice yoga with modifications for each student based on their term. Yoga teachers will have the opportunity to participate in the class and, through observation and the aid of props, understand the challenges pregnant students have in various postures. In the final session, from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m., Roberts and the yoga teachers will review and explore questions developed from the first two sessions. The price to attend for expecting students is $42 and for yoga teachers seeking Continuing Education Contact Hours is $62. Yoga Center of Collinsville is located at 10 Front Street in Collinsville (Canton). For more information or to register, visit YogaCenterCollinsville.com or call 860-693-9642. See ad on page 21.
