Fun With Tots

Come on down to these fun-filled sessions, as we bring you some good books for your little ones. You can also pick up some rhymes that you can teach your children at home. Join us for a 30-minute session of rhymes, songs and stories you can share with your toddler (1–3 years old). According to research, there are 6 skills that children need before they start school in order to learn to read. Each session of Fun with Tots focuses on one of these 6 important skills for you and your child. Admission fee is $2 for a pair of parent and child. Please register with payment at our eKiosks. Avid Reader Forum

Saturday, 17 April, 12.00 – 1.30 pm, Multipurpose Room, CTPL If you are between 9 and 12 years old, love to read and are eager to talk about your favourite books, make your way to Central Public Library on 17 April. Not only will you have a chance to talk enthusiastically about your favourite books and discover other wonderful books, but you will get to meet Singapore’s best-selling author Adeline Foo (Diary of Amos Lee) and writerillustrator Ho Lee-Ling (Samsui Girl). This programme is held in conjunction with World Book and Copyright Day. Admission is free and limited to 80 participants only.

WRL Anniversary: Reading Fun with Ronald McDonald Show Sunday, 18 April, 12.00 – 12.30 pm, Programme Zone, WRL This 30-minute show is aimed at encouraging audiences to read more books and impressing upon kids how reading can be fun. Ronald McDonald shares with kids the magical world of books through magic tricks, fun science experiments and challenging math puzzles. The wonders of static electricity learned from science books are demonstrated as Ronald McDonald amazingly magnetises a volunteer’s hair with a balloon. Kids are also invited on stage to help solve puzzles. Audiences are also reminded of etiquette tips when in the library like not speaking too loudly or running in the library and keeping how to care for the books so others can enjoy them as well. A simple quiz helps to strengthen the message that “Reading Is Fun!” before Ronald McDonald leads the audiences in the finale song.
