amarie the latest grime artist to be unleashed on the scene. With a rapidly growing fan base and an intense schedule, we at Volume feel privileged to be in the company of him, for the next two hours, as well as having the chance to do a ‘swag’ photo-shoot. At the age of 17 and for every 3 releases they have been in the top 3 in the charts, we have a good feeling Jamarie has a lot more talent to reveal to us! Although Jamarie now has a record deal worth, well lets just say he wont be needing a Saturday job, ever again, he stil l hasn’t forgot his roots, nor forgotten the history of his childhood or his own families upbringing. Known as the realist on the scene , Jamarie tells us how and why he does and intends on keeping it this way! Jamarie, thankyou for joining us today J: its a pleasure to be here so thankyou
So, your 1st album is coming out very soon.. tell us all about it J: well you’ll see when you buy it, which you will be wont you (Laughs), naa it’s my first album so a lot of work and effort has been put into it. Alot of the tracks are related to me in a personal way. I havent made this album wanting a number 1, even though i’d love to get that, i made it to tell my story and just show people my talent. It sounds like your bringing up and childhood experiences have had a huge impact on you... J: well of course they have, without them i wouldnt have a life and i wouldnt be the person i am now, i wont ever forget my upbringing, everything my mother, my queen, did to keep a roof over our head and food on the table, or the horrible experiences, witnessing someone being stabbed nd people being hooked onto drugs at a young age from 7, has impacted who i am a great deal! thats a lot to have experience at such a young age, is this why you say you wont ever change who you are because of fame? J: too right, mone cant buy happiness, it can only buy nice material things, and yeah having those things can make you happy, but only until the next range comes out, the thigns ive seen people go through just for money is crazy! Im happy to have money and not have to do some next stuff to get money and i like to be able to repay my mum, by supporting her now, to show her how grateful i am for everything she did for me! you idiolise your mother a lot, dont you? J: (laughs), thats a silly question, she’s my mother of course i do!
