AIAS SKOOLIE
As a student driven AIAS (American Institute of Architecture Students) project, the overall aim for this project was to develop the design and practical skills of our student team to emphasize our priorities of creativity, design, and community. With the guidance and mentorship of Tilt 23 Studios and Evolution Art, we were able to collaborate and merge ideas to repurpose a school bus into a home for the prospect of charity. YEAR 2020

The first stage in the process of developing design is observation. The University of Nevada, Las Vegas is teeming with sources from which to draw inspiration - if you know where to observe. This pavilion for student life on campus was extracted from some of the most inconspicuous of events: Mounding, turf grass, and circulation paths surrounding UNLV's South Residential Complex. The pavilion acts as a campus identifier and it's plaza allows students on campus a place for reflection, studying, or socializing.

The intersection of SE 82nd Avenue and SE Division Street is known for being the commercial heart of the Jade Distrct. Surrounding this intersection is what is considered to be one of Portlands most ethinicly diverse areas, but the lack of green spaces, safe transit, walkability, and social gathering areas also makes it one of the most socially diconnected areas. This project attemps to change that by converting this intersection into an underground intersection, allowing the remaining space about to be a community gateway.

8 A drastic lesson that many have yet to learn is coexistence. Design can be the leader and educator in matters of coexistence with the environment and each other. The Co-Ecologies Pavilion serves not only as a connection to nature but also as a physical connection across a body of water. This pavilion allows for visitors to become immersed with the sights and sounds nature has to offer while allowing a feeling of safety by its enclosed frame. The seating area offers reflection or personal gathering while the opposite side allows for closer standing observation and open circulation. CO -ECOLOGIES 0PAVILLION 4. 2020YEAR

PEOPLE 0STREET 5. 10 With vehicles being today’s primary users of public streets, there leaves little room for pedestrians and outdoor community gathering spaces. People Street is to serve as a pedestrian-centric street that provides the community with the space to gather for public outdoor events, farmer’s markets, and food trucks. This type of street design is often referred to as a "festival street". often referred to as a "festi. This street incorporates surrounding mixed-use buildings containing restaurants, retail, and housing to draw in people and create a safer street experience by having more “eyes on the street”. This street's serpentine shape is meant to slow traffic and create a safer environment for pedestrians. YEAR 2022 y’sre

L ANDSCAPE MATRIX COMPLE 0X 6. By extracting patterns and hidden and formal relationships from a landscape precedent, this project was explored the combinations of those patterns to describe a new design. This design introduced with an anthropogenic and ecological occupation strategy—where landscape is mediated through a functioning dynamic matrix. YEAR 2020 12 PATTERN PLEXI MODEL MODEL AXON

A Transit-Oriented Development is a form of compact urban development and design focused around a high-quality public transportation station. The Clinton Triangle, which sits adjacent to the Trimet MAX Orange Line, Union Pacific railroad, and newly developed Bob Stacey Crossing, is the ideal site for this development type. The vision for this site is to create a community with close proximity to public transportation, open outdoor spaces, affordable housing opportunities, all while incorporating water reclamation applications and environmental systems. This site was done as a collaborative effort with the entire UNLV Fall 2021 3rd year Landscape Studio. OR
