The library began with an arrangement of four cubes interlocked by a vertical column. Their geometry created a complex form despite the simple elements. To accommodate the program, the volumes were lifted, extruded, joined and rotated creating a dynamic space in section and plan. Large rectangular concrete shells house the major stacks, while suspended wooden elements accommodate the movement and resting of the reader. In a studio wide competition this project was awarded first prize by two professional architects.
