Circle Acres Competition

Paths crisscross a former Austin brownfield site. Glowing mushrooms (Panellus Stipticus) leach toxins from the soil, clearing the way for new growth. The more they consume, the more the more the mushrooms glow, lighting the park paths for evening visitors.

Clapham Green, London Studio Project

Clapham Junction is the busiest train station in Europe. As it is, the station can barely accomodate the thousands of people passing through each day. Meanwhile, the London Underground and Overground are looking to expand their respective networks. The new station at Clapham Green provides an armature for new growth in London, while unifying its divided neighborhood.

Austin Fresh Studio Project

Near the University of Texas at Austin, there are many restaurants and few grocery stores. Limited access feeds unhealthy habits in a city committed to new standards of health. Changed habits begins with changed attitudes: a new center for food growth and education becomes the lodestone for the next healthy-food capital.

Water Filtration Curtain

A flexible multi-purposed system designed to divide space and provide enclosure. Three subtypes allow the curtain to filter water, grow plants, and educate through learning walls.

Herz-Jesu Kirche Structural Precedent Study

Precedent study of Herz-Jesu Kirche in Munich by Allmann Sattler Wappner, 2000. The outer structural facade is made of load-bearing composite glass beams tying back to steel channels. The glass and steel bond to each other using a silicone adhesive. Between the two skins is a walkway housing the air circulation vents (flush in the floor plate), and space where people can gather for religious processions. The inner facade is a panelized system of adjustable wood louvers which alter the light quality and atmosphere of the inner sanctuary.

Goldsmith Annex Studio Charrette

A new exhibition space at Goldsmith Hall connects the School of Architecture to the city of Austin. Extending axes through and around the exhibition spaces sparks conversation between students and the public.

Siemensstadt 2050 Studio Project

20 years after the fall of the Berlin Wall, the city is still a patchwork of occupied and empty spaces. Meanwhile, the population is changing rapidly and the city must adapt and grow to accomodate its new inhabitants. Planning for the Berlin of 2050, the city must not only infill its empty blocks, but reevaluate and redesign older districts.
