The space is located in a new, uptown hip area where a lot of young, creative people gathers. Therefore, the client wanted a cosy but stylish interior for her beauty salon. Industrial style is proposed to complement the exsiting white painted brick wall as well as the exposed ceiling which is painted in black. A concrete counter with oak wood table top stood in the center of the space with the brick wall as a focal point. Behind the brick wall are storage cabinets with double basins. There are two rooms at the end of the space for beauty services offered. Although dimly lit, task lighting is just a switch away.

Dark green wall separates iself from the surrounding grey wall as a main feature for the client’s son to showcase his photography works. The wardrobe features a dark tinted glass door to reflect light onto this long , narrow bedroom.

The apartment is located above Imago, a shopping mall that was built in 2015. The mall has become a favourite for both locals and tourists for retail therapy, entertainment etc. As the client is someone who goes of town for work often, he has decided to rent out his apartment for family, friends or even tourists to experience the local hospitality. Originally, the apartment only has one bedroom and one study room. The study room is converted into a bedroom with sliding door so it can be open or close for privacy. The colour scheme throughout the apartment is kept in light, neutral colours with a splash of vibrant colour. Lots of natural light are let into the space to create a warm, cozy ambience.

Play-based Kindergarten

The kindergarten aims to educate children of the 21st century through fun and creative ways with the use of both technology and hands on activities. The teaching method used is play-based learning, which is inspired by the philosophy of kindergarten’s founding father, Freidrich Froebel. The design concept of Froebel Kindergarten is inspired by the ‘Six Dimensions of Contrast’ by Dr. Anita Rui Olds, who is a Harvard Professor specializing in Child Care Design. These ‘contrast’ can be integrated into children’s space to stimulate excitement and the curiousity in children in order to help them learn and experience different atmosphere.
