user research Consept description
BACKGROUND Six, Monica, Caroline, Natale and Kristin met at Global Service Jam in Oslo March 2013, where participants were to develop a service with the key word: GROW. The group was formed around the question: How to continue living after death? User tests during the weekend showed that for the users, it is just as important to find stories of people that live and have lived here, as leaving their own footsteps and stories behind. Users would like to know more about the history of the city, and the people that have lived there. Potential users said: “I wish I knew the stories of the people that have lived in this area before me. Therefore, we created Memorylanes.
THE SERVICE MEMORYLANES Memorylanes is a service that collects and shares personal stories of the people that live and have lived where you are. It is a service where you get to know your city through personal stories, connected to location through geotagging on a mobile device. It creates unique connections between you and the path you walk on, because Memorylanes is about where you are and what you see. Walking around town, to or from work, school or as a tourist, becomes a journey in a real adventure, everyday, everywhere.
Look back on my childhood memories
Tell a story to the world
Sing a song for you
Show what I can
Share a memory with my love
I want to remember this moment
WHAT WE HAVE LEARNED We have learned that people are interested in personal stories, but we haven´t figured it out `What kinds of stories would people like to share and listen to, and in which situation, will they do this?`
WHAT WE WANT TO DO We want to find peoples motivation, how they interact at a certain place, and how their memories are created there. After becoming a part of your creative lab, we have discovered that MESH would be a perfect arena for us to do research and collect inspiration. You can provide us with the opportunity of studying people at the common space, cafĂŠ, meeting rooms and events. We hope that the research result can help MESH show everyone wonderful magical memories that is created at this place and the valuable information will help us develop the concept.
CONCEPT DESCRIPTION We want to do a user research at MESH by creating a memory-box installation where memories from MESH will be collected. People at MESH will contribute with their stories. The process will be recorded and we will analyse how and where memories are created. We want to discover what motivates people to share a story and how is it possible to connect this story to a specific place. The installation will be three different places at MESH RY MO S ME ARD C
