In this magazine our “We are Europe 2” group has made presentations and thoughts concerning Europe, movies, food, music, etc. The presentations tell about how that specific movie was good, about different foods and winter sports, and how people celebrate the New Year’s Eve in different countries. We also tried to answer and give advice for some questions or problems that we thought people might be pondering. Hope you enjoy!

In the evening Paris have sudden terrorist attacks.

When I woke up, I learn the events.

I was afraid, not for me, but for my family.

I was afraid that my family died too early because of bad people. #Julie

I was watching the soccer on TV when the attacks began At the start of the attacks in Stade de France, we heard a bomb explosion.

I just thought that was fireworks but that was a Kamikaze.

This is horribly terrifying, this inhumanity, I was shocked and I think everybody isn’t in security

I wondered why the terrorists killed people while they asked for nothing.

All of my family was shocked when we learnt the news.

I do not want to go to Paris anymore because I thought I am not safe anymore. #Pauline

EUROPEAN CHARACTERS JEAN MONNET I) Who is he?

He was born 9th November 1888 in Cognac, and he died on 16th March 1979 in Houjarray.

He was a French political economist and diplomat.

He was a founder of the European Union. He was innovative from "l'atlantisme" (It is a political group set up at the start of Cold War with USA and France) and from "Libre-échange" (favour development for international business). Jean Monnet is considered as the "Father of Europe".

II) Teenage Years He was from a trader family in Cognac and he started his career in a family company. He interrupted his studies at 16 years old - he didn't like school - to start working in the family company. At 18 years old Jean Monnet resided in London. He travelled for the company e.g. to North America and then had to speak English.

III) World War I Jean Monnet was named “supervisor of the organization of the allied economic cooperation” in 1916 until the end.

IV) World War II After going back to France in 1938, he presided over the organization of the allied economic cooperation.

During the war, Jean Monnet went to America to negotiate the purchase of weapons for the French.

He convinced the Americans to launch the weapon production program. John Keynes said he had shortened the war by 1 year.

V) Conclusion The French politician and economic adviser Jean Monnet devoted a part of his life to the cause of European integration. He was the inspiration behind the "Schuman Plan", which organised the pooling Franco-German production of coal and steel. During both World wars he managed the coordination of industrial production in France and the UK.

JOSEPH BECH I) Who is he?

He was born 17th February 1887 in Diekirch and he died 8th March 1975 in Luxembourg.

He was a politician and counsel Luxembourgish. Bech is considered to be one of the founding fathers of Europe.

II) His career He did law in Fribourg and Paris. He became a solicitor in 1914 in Luxembourg. Pretty fast, he become the member station and Chairman of the Christian Social People's Party. In 1921, Bech was the Director General of the Public Institution in the Government but he resigned in 1925. He scar by the memories for the First World war. He inserted Luxembourg in the concert of nations by the signing of multilateral treaties. He contributed in the name of Luxembourg in multilateral negotiations that took place during and after World War II. He quit politics in 1964 and died eleven years later.

ROBERT SCHUMAN Jean-Batiste Nicolas Robert Schuman was born on 29 june 1886 in Luxembourg, he was a political thinker and activist. The father of Robert (d. 1900) was in evrange in the frontier of Luxembourg. Robert was in primary and secondary school in Grand-Duché. In 1904, he got his baccalaureate at lycée Impérial in Metz, he was lawyer in Metz on june 1912. Jean Monnet was a friend of Robert Schuman. Jean said that finding a pact between France and Germany is necessary; by finding a federation of some European country. He agreed and he proposed the initiative in the "declaration of 9 may 1950". This text is the principal founder of the European Union. He was the first president of the European Parliament, from 1958 to 1960. In 1962 he stopped his political career and spent his last month reading and writing.

PAUL-HENRI SPAAK Paul-Henri Spaak was born 25 January 1899 in Schaerbeek, Belgium. He took part in the First World War as a soldier of the Belgian army, and spent two years as a war prisoner of Germany.

During the Second world war he was the Foreign Minister and he tried to keep Belgium neutral in the war.

The attenpt didn't succeed, and so he was in exile for some time.

Later, after his return, he served both as Prime Minister and Foreing Minister, and advocated a strong policy of unity conserning the Benelux Countries and later Europe. He was the Secretary General of NATO between 1957 and 1961.

He was also the president in the first meeting of the United Nations. He had a huge influence in the creation of the Treaty of Rome in 1958, which in turn made the creation of EU possible.

Spaak died in 1972 at the age of 73.

Altiero Spinelli Altiero Spinelli was born 31 August 1907 and died 23 May 1986. He was an Italian politician.

He had a founding role in the European federalist movement by his strong influence on the first few decades of post II World War on. By the time of his death, he had been a member of the European Union for ten years..

Alcide de Gasperi Aldiero de Gasperi was born 3 April 1881 and died 19 August 1954. From 1945 to 1953 he was the prime minister of eight successive coalition government.

For 20 years, it is one of the richest American producers with its label Empire Records.But lucious is il and he must designer on of his 3 sons so that he succeed.The 2 brothers (Jamal and Hakeem) are artists and 1 brother is businessman (Andre) , he will do everything to take the lead of the label.When the mother (Cookie) go out of prison after 17 years get more complicated.

Eva and I chose Desperate housewives because this is a funny and famous series and the story is original. This serie was created in the USA. The story is about 5 women who live in a rich neighborhood and they have a different social class. The appearances are sometimes misleading. They have different characters and the story having suspens displays a different view of a rich neighborhood. The principal actors are Eva Longoria (Gabrielle Solis), Teri Hatcher (Susan Delfino), Marcia Cross (Bree Van De Kamp), Felicity Huffman (Lynette Scavo) and Nicolette Sheridan (Edie Britt).

Eva and I chose Grey's Anatomy because this is funny and we can learn sickness and something about medicine. We can see where they live and we can see the day in the hospital. This a love and funny story.

The mains characters are: Derek Sheper (Patrick Dempsey), Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), Cristina Yang (Sandra Oh) and Izzi Stevens (Katherine Heigl).

The Last Man on Earth is a comedy TV series created and starred by Will Forte. It tells the story of an American man, Phil Miller [Forte], who believes he is the only survivor of a virus which has wiped almost all life off of the planet. The series is based on the comedy that is born from the goofyness and awkwardness of Phil, who has lived two years without any other humans, meeting new people in a really quick pace and being unable to remember what it was like to interact with other people, ending up lying and destroying the trust people have in him. The humour of the series is sometimes very stupid, because most of the stuff that Phil does just really make you want to shout at him, but if you are a friend of watching people fail at life or just knowing that someone,s got it even worse than you, you should get to know the series. The other roles [yes, despites the name of the series, there are other people on Earth] are played by Kristen Schaal [Carol Pilbasian], January Jones [Melissa Chartres], Mel Rodriguez [Todd], Cleopatra Coleman [Erica] and Mary Steenburger [Gail].

The Mythbusters is a very popular Discovery Channel production created by Peter Rees. The show, as one could guess from its name, is all about testing the validity of myths, rumors, movie scenes, internet videos and other things like that, scientifically, of course. The two main hosts are the special effects experts Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman, but there have been other hosts too in the history of the series. After Adam and Jamie, the most known people must have been the power trio Tory Belleci, Kari Byron and Grant Imahara, who unfortunately left the show in 2014. Other people who have worked as hosts are Scottie Chapman, who has worked in the show after quitting it as their full-time activity and Jessi Combs, who was a substitute for Kari when she had a maternity leave.

There are, however, more people making the show than just the people mentioned before. There are many people helping the hosts build their massive myth-testing gadgets and every time they are using explosives or wish to use a wind tunnel, there are explosives experts and fire fighters or people from NASA to make their wishes true and to make sure they will not do anything wrong or harm theirselves.

TV Films We chose Titanic because this a famous film in the world. The story is about a homeless where wone a ticket to jump on the titanic when he play pocker with his friends. The people on the boat are rich and modest. The homeless (Jack Dawson/ Leonardo DiCaprio) saved the life of a rich woman (Rose DeWitt Bukater/ Kate Winslet) because she would to suicide at the back of the boat. A love story with the 2 characters was created. At the end of the film the Titanic sank very quickly. Jack is dead and Rose alive. When the lifeguards ask Rose on here family name she says she called Rose Dawson because she love Jack and she would to be his wife.

We chose Harry Potter because this is also a famous saga film in the world. Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone is the first film in the Harry Potter series based on the novels by J.K. Rowling. Harry Potter thinks he is an ordinary boy celebrating his 11th birthday, A giant named Hagrid appears, and tell to him he is a wizard. Now his journey in life gets more intense as he travels to Hogwarts school. Here, he meets his friends, Ron Weasley (Rupert Grint) is not a very brave friend and Hermione (Emma Watson) is the smart friend. But not everything is quiet at Hogwarts as Harry suspects someone is planning to steal the sorcerer's stone.

Hunger Games is an American film. The actors are Katniss Everdeen is playing by Jennifer Lawrence, Peeta Mellark is playing by Josh Hutcherson,Gale Hawthorne is playing by Liam Hemsworth,Effie Trinket playing by Elizabeth Banks, Haymitch Abernathy is playing by Woody Harrelson.The film's action takes place in future after very damage natural in North America, The gouvernement is totalitaire.Katniss is young girl of 16 years of the district 12.She is voluntary for the 74st Hunger games for take the place of your sister. Crimson Peak is an 2015 American gothic romance film directed by Guillermo del Toro and written by del Toro and Matthew Robbins.The film stars Mia Wasikowska as Edith Cushing, Tom Hiddleston Sir Thomas Sharpe, Jessica Chastain as Lady Lucille Sharpe, Charlie Hunnam as Dr. Alan McMichael, and Jim Beaver as Carter Cushing. Crimson Peak is produced by Legendary Pictures and distributed by Universal Pictures, the film was released on October 16, 2015. The movie is based on 1887 to fourteen years forward from that. The maincharacter Edith sees the ghost of her mother. Her mother keeps repeating "Beware of Crimson Peak." She doesn't really listen to her since later on she is on that peak where the actual happenings of the movie happen. After that there are alot of plot twist's which I won't spoil for you now. Even though the movie is all new and fancy looking the ghosts in the movie aren't full CGI (Computer-Generated Imagery) they are actual people inside of those ghost suits and CGI is used to edit the remaining too human parts (mostly faces and legs) and/or to make an impressive entrance

Guardians of the Galaxy is a 2014 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics superhero team of the same name, produced by Marvel Studios and distributed by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures.The film was directed by James Gunn, who wrote the screenplay with Nicole Perlman. The movie was starred by Chris Pratt as Peter Quill / Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax the Destroyer, Vin Diesel as Groot, Bradley Cooper as Rocket, Lee Pace as Ronan the Accuser, Michael Rooker as Yondu Udonta, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Djimon Hounsou as Korath, John C. Reilly as Corpsman Rhomann Dey, Glenn Close as Nova Prime Irani Rael, Benicio del Toro as Taneleer Tivan / The Collector. It's an awesome film if you are into action, superhero movies or are a huge marvel nerd.

TV reality shows Secret story is a reality show in France. The subjects is: a many kind of people live in a house and each person have a secret. They have to search the secret of each person and in the house they have a lot of clue. Each week they have to eliminate a person and in the end the person who did not reveal her secret is the winner. This is a little bit stupid but this is funny and we want to know the next emission each evening.

Dance avec les stars (dancing with stars) in Europe where some famous people are invited to dancing with pro dancer. This a hard competition if you doesn't know dance. Each week the most wrong star dancer is eliminate from the tv show. At end beetwen the finalist, the public choose the winner with vote.

The voice is a reality show in France, of TV talent show musical made by Tristan CarnĂŠ and Didier Froehly disseminated on TF1 since the 25 February 2012. Product by Shine France she is adapt of the show Dutch The voice of Holland made by the founding Endemol and John de Mol. The version french, show by Nikos Aliagas and Karine Ferri, is it more look in Europe. The jury is blend of four singer: Garou, Florent Pagny, Jenifer and Loui Bertignac that replaced from 3 saison by Mika. Garou is replaced by Zazie for the saison 4 end is back in for saison 5 about replaced Jenifer.

Ace of Cakes was an American reality television show that aired on the Food Network. The show focused on the daily operations of Duff Goldman's custom cake shop, Charm City Cakes, in Baltimore, Maryland; including small-business ownership, working with various vendors, tasting with customers, constructing cakes, and delivering his products. It started in the early fall of 2006 and ended in February 2011. But there are more same kind of cake shows so it's okay. :)

RuPaul's Drag Race Started in 2009 and is still going strong. This show is like The American Top Model, but it's kind of the same , but there are Drag Queens instead of actual women, so it's a bunch of sassy gay men. I totally recommend to watch at least an episode, maybe from the newest ones, it's hilarious and just FABULOUS in everyway possible. Finland and France are 2 countries in Europe which have a lot of great artists ! Some of these artists are extravagant, for example bjÖrk and many others we are going to show you! There are some artists who are extravagant by their clothes, their way of singing, dancing or playing music, their looks, their way to be with another people or their fans.

There are some French artists who are original.

First, Sebastien Tellier was born on the 22th February 1975 in Val-d'Oise. He is an French singer and electronic musician and he is an actor. He is the son of the guitarist Alain Tellier. His first album was named "L'incroyable vérité" in 2001 and to be better known he did the first part of the tour before the group Air. In 2008 he participated to Eurovision where he sang "Divine" and he finished 19/25 with 47 points. His productor, by her album "Sexuality" in 2008, was an member of the group Daft Punk.

Then , Philippe Katerine was born on the 8th December 1968 in Deux-Sèvres.

He is a rock author and compositor. His first album was "Les mariages Chinois" in 1991.

His popular singles include "Mon coeur balance", "Je vous emmerde" and "Louxor j'adore".

He is also known by the single named "Katerine".

Finally, Sebastien Tellier is an extravagant artist because he did extravagant music.

His principal type of music is electronic music and nu-disco. Philippe Katerine is an extravagant singer because he gave extravagant titles on his songs for example "Je vous emmerde". His principal type of music is french music and pop.

JVG is a Finnish rap-duo that makes energetic songs mostly directed to young people. Usually their songs might seem to make no sense, but are quite catchy and get stuck in your head, and are so called earworms. The duo consists of two guys, Jare and VilleGalle.

They are 28-years-old and their songs are mostly about partying and playing sports.

They’re quite popular, and even older people like them and their style, which is mostly colorful sports clothes. The song that got them famous was “Häissä”, which was from their first album that was released on the 27th April 2011. It sold gold in two months and the song was chosen as the Official Summer Hit in Finland. Now they have released four albums, and the latest one came out on the 10th September 2015.

In all Europe, there are too special artist.

To begin, Klaus Nomi was born on the 24th January 1944 in Immenstadt and he dies on 6th August 1944 in New-York . He was a German singer. In Berlin, he had a passion for opera ,rock and electronic music! In 1982 he done his album "Klaus Nomi" and in 1982 he named his album "Simple man". He had a soprano voice but too he had a rock voice that's why he is extravagant. He mixed all type; in a cabaret who he sang he did a show which he mixed electronic music, new wave and opera. Before dying, he received the Gold disc in Paris. And he died at 39 years old because he was sick and exhausted...

He was the first famous artist who died of AIDS. After, Pentatonix is an American a Cappella band that has been together for 4 years. The band consist of 5 vocalists who come from Texas. The band’s popularity rocketed when they won the American show Sing off. After the Sing off the band started posting videos of them covering well known pop songs on the website Youtube.

The band released their first album (PTX, volume 1) in 2012 and after that has followed more: PTXmas (2012), PTX vol. II (2013), PTX, vol. III (2014), That’s Christmas to me (2014). In 2015 Pentatonix went out and released their 5th album (Pentatonix) consisting mainly of their own material instead of covers.

Achviements At the moment the PTXofficial Youtube channel has over 9 million subscribers and their most viewed video Daft Punk alone has over 150 million views. The band won a Grammy in the 57th Grammys for Best arrangement, Instrumental or A Cappella.

Two of the band members (Mitch Grassi and Scott Hoying) have opened a quite unique way of communicating with the fans by hosting a web-show called Superfruit. The show is posted on the Superfruit Youtube channel and it shows the two guys talk to the camera about questions the fans ask or do some kind of challenges.

To finish, Klaus Nomi was an original singer because he had a clothing style like an extraterest and he mixted all the type of music in her career.

The winter sports We present to you the winter sport practice in France, and in Finland.

1) Snowboarding:

I'm going to show you the snowboard, the snowboard is the same sport than ski but with one board.

The equipment consists of a board, a pair of fasteners and a pair of boots. The position on the board is close to the skateboarder.

Snowboarding was born in 1920 by Jake Burton. Snowboarding is the combination of two sports, skiing and surfing. The snowboard did his first appearance in the Winter Olympics in 1998. A lot of French did the snowboard in France. The best ranck for the snowboard is in "Alpes" and the "PyrenĂŠ".

Xavier Delerue is one of the world's best snowboarders. He won the World cup three times. In 2007, he returned to success in winning the gold medal at the World Cross Championships held in Arosa in Switzerland.

He participated in the wake X Games and was ranked second.

Paul Xavier De Le Rue 2) Cross-country skiing: This is a nordic winter sport. It is popular in North-Europe and in Canada.

It was born in Scandinavian countries in Antiquity. it was used for hunting and for to moved more faster on the snow.

In 1879, this sport arrived in Finland. It was practice by the army.

It's practical on flattened snow. It was a Olympic winter discipline since 1924. We use two long and narrow skiing. It was fixed on tip shoes.

There are two cross-country skiing techniques: the traditional technique called tride. we advance by making parallel steps. and the skating. It looks like the skates or ice skating. We can advanced differently with this technique.

For practice the Cross-country skiing, we must have good stamina.

Jason Lamy-Chappuis: He was born the 9 september 1986 in Missoula in USA. He is a French olympic champion of Cross-country skiing. He arrived in France in 1990. He is American and French.

In 2006, he is the fourth in world Cup of Cross-country skiing in Turin. It is his first global competition. In 2010, he became olympic champion. He won the crystal globes.

Actually, Jason Lamy-Chappuis is in retirement. But he has 27 world victories.

3)Biathlon: is an event combining two disciplines. When talking about the biathlon, one evokes the combination of cross country skiing and rifle shooting . it helps fund the sport . Biathlon is a relatively young sport. This sport is more popular, to the point of a national sport in Germany or the Nordic countries. Particularly in France , the gold medal won by the women's relay in 1992 Winter Olympics was the starting point for the recognition of biathlon.The practice of biathlon to the high-level is regulated by the International union of biathlon which organizes the principal competitions. Although regarded as disciplines ski or sport of snow, biathlon is completely autonomous.

Martin Fourcade: He was born 14 september 1988 in Céret in the Eastern Pyrenees, He is a French biathlète.He participate in to biathlon.He is twice champion Olympique in 2014 of biathlon. he is sixth champion on the world between 2011 at 2015. He is also the first biathlete won four times in succession the general ranking of the World cup of biathlon in 2012, 2013, 2014 and 2015. It's career start in 2006 with the international level. It began in biathlon at fifteen years old while following the steps of his brother Simon Fourcade. In 2010, it was on the Olympic Games of Vancouver would be better if it did medals ,he going up for the first time on a podium as a senior.

Our main winter sports in Finland, Lahti:

1) Ski jumping Lahti is ski jumping city. We have Finland’s one of the best ski jumps. Very popular ski jumpers are Matti Nykänen. He has won Olympics four times. Other famous is Janne Ahonen who has won the World Championship two times. Finns follow ski jumping competitions and they are a very known Finnish winter sport activity. We have known ski jumping competitions here in Lahti and they are called Salpausselän kisat.

2) Icehockey Ice hockey is the most popular sport in Finland. Almost all Finns follow and watch hockey. World championship is so important thing here. All fans take it very seriously and they root for their own team. Finland has von twice the world championship, in 1995 and 2011. In Lahti we have own team, Pelicans. It is at the moment eight of all Finnish team. That is pretty well! Lahti is sport and ice hockey town, and it shows!
