For many school districts, the week of March 15-19 is spring break. But while the teachers and kiddos will be slowing down, MWR will be ramping up, offering a great selection of family-friendly events. Throughout the week, a certain E. Bunny will be making daily appearances around the base from 1100 to 1300. You’ll be able to greet him and have your (socially distant) photo taken. Here’s a peek at our rabbit's schedule and other fun events. MONDAY: His first stop is the Community Recreation, Bldg. 3328. In addition, staff will be handing out Easter eggs. At the tent outside the Lone Star Center (Bldg. 2570), we will do a project involving planting flowers from 1000 to 1400. TUESDAY: The rabbit visits Auto Skills, Bldg. 1145. We’ll also be distributing Easter eggs and bags filled with take-home crafts projects. WEDNESDAY: Our bunny will be at the TEN Bowling Center, Bldg. 1815. In addition, bowling will be just $1.50 per game. Participants will have a chance to win MWR Bucks, which can be used to pay for a variety of MWR services. CAPTAIN'S CUP Victory doesn't always go to the most talented competitor. Sometimes, it goes to the one who is most persistent. You have a great chance to show your persistence in the NAS JRB Fort Worth Captain’s Cup. Launched in January, it is a year-long way for your squadron, command, or department to compete together in a variety of events In March, we'll be playing Dodgeball. The tournament will be March 15-April 1. Registration is open now. The championship will be Thursday, April 1. April's event will be Kan-Jam. We hope you'll join us in congratulating them and three others who have reached the goal. FIRST SATURDAY FUN DAYS If you want to make the most of your weekends, you'll want to check out First Saturday Fun Days, held 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. the first Saturday of each month.  We'll do a different activity each month, including kayaking, biking, hiking, museums, photography—maybe even shopping!  Our March 6 activity will be hiking in Samson Park, 2501 Roberts Cut Off Road, Fort Worth, TX 76114. Meet at the park. The April 6 event will be a hike through Airfield Park, just outside the base. First Saturday Fun Days are open to all with base access. MWR WALKING CLUB Get out and enjoy some fresh air and nature! Every Wednesday at 10 am, Community Recreation is leading a fun, casual, group walk of about 3 miles roundtrip along the scenic Trinity Trails. (If the weather is bad, you can track your steps on your phone or device to upload later.) MWR CYCLING CLUB Do you like to cycling? Are you interested in trying out bike riding? If so, you’ll want to check out MWR’s Bike Club. They meet each month for a casual group ride. Bring your own bike or rent one of ours for just $10. Rides will be 1000 to 1200 the third Saturday of each month, weather permitting. Meet at Airfield Falls Trailhead, located just outside the base. 10

Weather Alert On March 3, we held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new storm shelter outside the Child Development Center. Capt. McLean honored us by handling the all-important scissors duty (top photo), with many others in attendance. The new building has more than 1,600 square feet, an occupancy rate of 320 and some impressive 18-inch walls. Several years in the making, the project was collaboration between MWR/ CYP, Safety, NAVFAC, and several base captains. Most important, in the event of extreme weather, the building will provide the children and staff with a safe place to go. www.navyMWRfortworth.com
