MWR Cares!

When we needed someone to model for a photo at the MWR Fitness Center, staff member Maria Stofregen stepped up to the challenge—literally. Elliptical machines like the one she is on are just one of the many pieces of equipment the center has—see page 8 for more info. And if you see Mary, be sure to tell her she did a great job!

Welcome to 2021! Most MWR facilities are OPEN. For your safety, we have a variety of COVID restrictions in place, including limits on capacity, temperature checks and requirements for masks and social distancing. Also, facilities are accepting online reservations only—no calls or walk-ins permitted.  We encourage you to make sure you are aware of all the safety restrictions before arriving at an MWR facility or event. It's a time of cold weather, short days and COVID. But if it looks like MWR has nothing for you to do this winter, look again.

Going the Distance

Could you run 100 miles? No? But what if you didn’t have to do it all at once—now what do you say? If you’d like to give it a try, here’s the perfect opportunity: The MWR 100-Mile Club. Throughout February and March, we will hold weekly group runs. So you will have at least 27 opportunities—and nine weeks— to reach to your goal. We’ll kick off the event with a group run at 10:45 am Monday, Feb. 1, at the East Gate entrance turnstile. Participants will have a full hour to run at least 1.5 miles; of course, if you want to run even farther, all the better. www.navyMWRfortworth.com

After the kickoff event, we’ll be holding group runs three times a week. Mondays and Wednesdays: Muster at 10:45 am at the East Gate entrance turnstile. Fridays: 6:45 am muster at the base airfield. Participants are welcome to run on their own. Send a screenshot of your run to fwmwrfitness@gmail.com. Runs must be reported by Wednesday, March 31. Info: 817-782-7770. The activity is open only to active-duty and reservists. COVID safety precautions will be in place for the runs, including temperature checks and social distancing. Masks will be required before and after the run. The club is a great way to have fun while getting into shape and preparing for your PFA. It's also your chance to tell everyone about the time you ran 100 miles. You can do this!
