What We’re Thankful For in the ARC Office…

NOVEMBER 2011 Naples, Italy

October was a great month for us! We hosted Shelter on the Spine, which was a tremendous success thanks to all of you. We also attended the fire awareness event at the Support Site fire station and offered CPR courses to Naplesarea Girl Scouts. We are so pleased with the money we’ve raised this year through various fundraisers and are thrilled to have so many committed volunteers who have helped impact our community in many different ways. We have five new volunteers at the hospital and want to thank them for the hard work they are doing. We understand the beginning of the process is somewhat time consuming but we encourage you to keep going! As we approach Thanksgiving, we want to let all of you know how THANKFUL we are for everything you do. Keep up the good work everyone!

To volunteer for any upcoming events, or for specific volunteer opportunities, please call our office—we’re always looking for volunteers! see page 3 for specific opportunities

By Lewis Heuermann, DAT Chair The DAT really showed their abilities with our Shelter On the Spine event on October 4th! The community responded with a lot of interest and asked many questions about the base and the Red Cross response to a large-scale disaster. Thank you to Magda, Chris, Krista, and Carlos for showing the community we are here for them! A special shout out to the Special Events team headed up by Gillia Lambert and Virginie Silva for coordinating the food sale for the Navy Ball. The changing season outside brings new weather and new things to be ready for. In Italy the winter-time is a wet season with slick roads and possible power outages. Be prepared with enough food, water, and heating to last for 5 days in the event of a power loss and keep a first aid kit in your car to be Red Cross Ready! We are always looking for motivated volunteers ready to learn more in depth response skills for mass casualties and disaster preparedness. If you are interested in becoming part of the DAT contact me at today! If you were unable to make it to this event do not worry! We will be doing this again in the future on the Support Site. Thank you Magda for putting that bug in the ear of the Emergency Management team! Bringing the shelter experience to the families on the Support Site will raise awareness for disaster preparedness in the community. Again, thank you all for your support and a wonderful day with the Red Cross. M A R K

Update from our Station Manager: Jacquie Mack

Hello Naples Volunteers, Now that fall is here and we are officially back to school and work, it is time to start thinking about the holidays. This is my favorite time of year and it is the perfect time to give back to your community. Check out our volunteer opportunities and volunteer for a good cause. Invite a friend to join you! If you know someone new to the community, this is a perfect way to break the ice and welcome them to the command. We love welcoming new volunteers, and are proud of all the work you do around the community. Thanks for the hard work you do and see you around. Ciao!

Welcome to our new School Chair Terra Jones If you’re interested in volunteering at Naples Elementary or Naples High School, Terra will be the one to help place you in your volunteer position. Thanks Terra!
