Connected Educator Virtual Keynote Presenter... Sheryl Nussbaum-Beach is a 20-year educator who has been a classroom teacher, technology coach, charter school principal, district administrator, university instructor and digital learning consultant. Currently, she is in the dissertation phase of completing her doctorate in Educational Planning, Policy and Leadership at the College of William and Mary. She is the owner and founder of 21st Century Collaborative, LLC, a digital learning consulting business through which she regularly delivers keynotes, workshops and supports nonprofits in their grant work. Through the Powerful Learning Practice Network which she co-founded with Will Richardson, she works with schools and districts from across the US, Canada, New Zealand, Norway and Australia to re-envision their learning cultures and communities. http://plpnetwork.com Sheryl is a sought after presenter at national and international events, speaking on topics of 21st Century reform, teacher and educational leadership, community building, and educational issues impacting marginalized populations such as the homeless. Workshop Choices Enhancing Your Secondary Curriculum with iPad Technologies for the Middle School/High School Educator

Instructor: Dan King --- ISTE NETS: 1, 2, 3 Review iPad fundamentals/tips and tricks and take the journey into integration by discovering ways to integrate the iPad(s) into your secondary classrooms’ learning and curriculum. Participants will learn how to find appropriate core/music/art etc. apps, critically evaluate apps and more. This hands on workshop will also go beyond the apps and explore ways to use your iPad in customized ways to meet the needs of MS and HS students. Create eProjects, eBooks and other instructional materials, integrate with your SmartBoard, manage photos, add video content and more. Join us and accelerate your students learning whether you have one iPad or many! Attendees need bring an iPad 2 or 3 with iOS5 to this training.

The iPad and ASD: an “App”-mazing Tool For Autistic Students Instructor: Sally King --- ISTE NETS: 2, 4

So much to do. So much information. So many needs! This 3 day workshop will give participants time to learn and explore the many special education apps available that can help teachers and their ASD students. Time will be spent learning the features of the iPad that make it a “cool” tool for students with special needs. Participants will learn about selected apps and more in depth with Proloquo2Go, and then be given explore time with focus on assessment/data collection tools, social/behavioral skills, fine motor/writing skills, student organization/task completion, and language/communication skills. Participants will have time to collaborate and share with peers. Attendees need bring an iPad 2 or 3 with iOS5 to this training.

Transforming PreK - 4th Grade Classroom Practice and Student Learning with iPad Technologies Instructors: Shirley Galstad-Roh and Tim Nielsen ISTE NETS for Teachers: 1, 2, 3, 5; for Administrators: 2, 3, 4

With learning for all as the objective, iPad use in the Prek-4 classroom will begin with you in mind. Are you wondering where to begin? We can help! Are you asking yourself which apps are best for my students to help them learn? We can help! Are you concerned with how to manage a classroom of iPads with your students? We can help! Are you wanting to extend and enhance current iPad integration? We can help! Are you thinking about how to organize the apps to maximize student learning? We can help! The presenters will begin with a brief review of iPad basics and operating features. Attendees will then be given an opportunity to share their knowledge and personal/classroom experiences using iPads with the group. Presenters will model best practices and share examples of real classroom learning with iPads. Plenty of time will be given to collaborate and communicate with other attendees to create lessons that integrate iPad technology to support students being immersed in the 21st Century learning skills. Ideas/Projects will be shared with the group so everyone will benefit from the team work. Be ready to explore, discover and change your teaching style and your students learning with iPads! Workshop Choices Google My Way

Instructors: Naomi & Jeff Harm --- ISTE NETS: 1, 2, 3, 5 Come explore the wonderful world of Google apps for education. K12 educators will be totally immersed in innovative ways of how to use Google tools to support and extend learning opportunities for all of their students, and how the tools can support the productivity and efficiency of today’s 21st century educator. Three full days of interactive presentations and hands-on activities include experiences with advanced search techniques, collaborative web-based applications, and inspirational instructional strategies. Naomi and Jeff will showcase ways they have worked with educators at the national and international level of how they’ve implemented tools such as Google Docs, Forms, Groups, Presentations, Google Sites, and much more to build a new information digital toolbox of world class literacy collections.

The SMART Classroom: Engaging Learners with the SMART Board Interacting Whiteboard Instructor: Jodi Hoscheit --- ISTE NETS: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5

Have a SMARTBoard, but not quite sure what to do with it or want to know how to go beyond just the basics? This workshop, led by a veteran teacher who uses a SMARTBoard everyday, will guide participants through the use of SMART Notebook software and the tools available for creating activities and lessons. Explore exciting, interactive tools that are waiting to engage students and get them focused on learning. Participants will not only learn to create their own lessons, but will be shown how to find lessons already created by other teachers, then adapt them to fit their own curriculum and grade level needs. Most important of all, teachers will establish a network of teachers and educators that will provide endless support and ideas for using a SMARTBoard everyday for classroom lessons and routines. This workshop allows participants the time to repeatedly work with the software and leave with a comfort level to use the SMARTBoard Construct compelling personal narratives using digital tools. Participants in this workshop will: • Create learner-centered lessons that are visual and highly interactive • Maximize student engagement and classroom efficiency • Promote ICT Literacy Skills focused on student outcomes • Collaborate with peers to assess and improve new and existing lessons • Participate in hands-on opportunities that fit your individual needs and experience levels in utilizing SMART Notebook software and a SMART Board interactive whiteboard

Independence in the Inclusive Classroom Instructor: Melissa Emler --- ISTE NETS: 1, 2, 3 This session is appropriate for regular and special education teachers who want to help students with special needs be more independent in the regular education environment. A variety of assistive technologies ranging from low tech to high tech will be examined. Educators will set into motion an implementation plan for using Bookshare, Echo Smartpens, a variety of iPad apps and web 2.0 tools, video modeling, selfadvocacy coaching, and Texthelp’s toolbar.

Because of the varying needs of students, discussion regarding BYOD (bring your own device) policies and practices will also be explored. These technologies are not only good for special education students, they are good for ALL students.

Workshop Choices Integrating Effective Communication and Collaboration Practices within a Mobile Learning Environment Instructor: Beth Lisowski --- ISTE NETS: 1, 2, 3

This three day hands-on workshop will focus on using free and user-friendly digital multimedia tools to create an engaging and collaborative learning environment that uses technology to support all learners and their unique learning styles. Creation and digital media tools explored will include video and web conferencing, back channel chats, social networks of Facebook, wikis and blogs to integrating with your existing curriculum and utilized in a BYOD teaching and learning environment. Each participant will receive the Intel 1:1 Transforming Curriculum 1:1 resource CD for their completion of the 3 day workshop training.

Instructors: Jennifer Malphy and Crystal Brunelle ISTE NETS: 1, 2, 5 With the adoption of Common Core Standards, teachers will be encouraged to integrate technology like never before. This integration will help prepare our students to succeed in our global society. Hopefully, our students will learn to create, collaborate, communicate, use critical thinking skills, and become responsible digital citizens. In this workshop, participants will explore the use of eBooks and eReaders in the classroom and/or library. We will also learn how to create eBooks to use on such devices.

In addition, participants will be introduced to a variety of sources for collaboration and the development of Personal Learning Networks such as Twitter, blogs, wikis and Skype. In this module, teachers will be exposed to a wide variety of online digital literacy tools such as Storybirds, Animoto and Glogster. Attendees need bring a Nook to this training.

Workshop Choices Peer Coaching: Transforming Schools by Connecting Peers with Purpose Instructor: Mary Lou Ley ISTE NETS: NETS•S 1- 4, NETS•T 1- 3, 5, NETS•A 1- 4, NETS•C 1-4, 6 Experts say the most effective Professional Development today is: technology-rich, delivered through a coaching model, and enhanced by the power of community and social learning. The Peer Coaching Program focuses on training teachers to help their colleagues integrate technology into the collaborative online classroom of the future. You will learn and utilize the communication and collaboration skills needed to build trust and effective collaboration. You will learn to strengthen lesson design skills to help colleagues improve learning activities through active, engaging instructional strategies. And, you will explore best practices in technology integration so you can assist teachers to use technology to enrich and enhance student learning. Join us to learn how to go beyond “helping” to develop your coaching skill set that will enable you to engage in discussions between

coaches and colleagues, to understand their challenges and adapt to ongoing personal teaching styles and student needs. In the Peer Coaching program coaches learn, practice, and employ with colleagues three primary sets of skills: communication skills, lesson improvement skills, and technology integration skills. Peer Coaches offer colleagues job-embedded, contentfocused, just-in-time, long-term professional development, focused on local needs.

Cutting Edge Technology Tools: The Essentials for K-12 Educators

Instructors: David Kapuler and Jena Sherry ISTE NETS: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 This session will showcase varied levels of cutting edge Web 2.0 and 21st Century Technologies including social networking and social bookmarking. We will share essential resources and tools to infuse immediately into your K-12 classroom instruction, such as Twitter, Diigo, Wikispaces, Tagxedo & Wordle, Animoto, Prezi, Voice Thread, Glogster, and Voki. To enhance this session, a key focus will also include developing and strengthening your PLN. This PLN component will assist educators to improve their digital literacy skill sets, and emphasize how to effectively network and collaborate with other grade level and content specific educators from around the world. Upon completion of our session, you will be equipped with several digital tools and have created digital projects that make you wonder, “How did I ever teach without these?”

About the Presenters Crystal Brunelle is an elementary level Teacher Librarian. She has worked in libraries at both the university and elementary level. This is her sixth year working in an elementary library. Before earning her MLIS, she taught for twelve years in grades one through five as a regular classroom teacher. In 2010 she earned the Teacher of the Year Award from The La Crosse County Library Board and has been very active in encouraging the use of the public library. Crystal is extremely involved with her online Professional Learning Network through Twitter, wikis, her blogs and many other avenues. You can follow Crystal on Twitter at @librarygrl2 Melissa Emler is a passionate educator. She has taught high school English and special education and is an aspiring administrator. Melissa is excited about almost everything but especially 21st century skills and technology integration. Her energy and enthusiasm make her a dynamic presenter. Melissa has presented “Independence in the Inclusive Classroom” at the Wisconsin SLATE conference (School Leaders Advancing Technology in Education) in 2010 and 2011, and this workshop is an opportunity to explore those topics more in depth. Shirley is a leader in using technology in the primary classroom to integrate core content that includes differentiation for individual learning styles and assessment. Peer coaching in using Smartboard technology and Notebook software has been a passion for her. Shirley is currently using eight iPads in her classroom to deliver universal instruction as well as RTi.

Jeff Harm, is an IT Support Specialist with Innovative Educator Consulting. Jeff’s network administration expertise allows for all of our technology integration workshops to have a technical strand and support focus to make sure the technology works seamlessly within the k12 educational environment. Jeff is our lead trainer and technical support specialist for our Adobe Connect trainings and webinar offerings and also our lead IT specialist for our Google IT deployment and LMS integration with Course Director. Naomi Harm, ME-PD, best known as an 21st century educational technology literacy specialist, welcomes every opportunity to share her expertise and best practices relating to technology infused teaching and learning environments. Her dynamic career focus includes many exciting and cutting edge jobs which include: an Intel National Senior Trainer, SMART certified trainer and certified online instructor. She teaches graduate courses for both U.W. LaCrosse and Viterbo University. Jodi has served as president of the Midwest Wisconsin Reading Council. Jodi is truly passionate about creating learning experiences to develop 21st Century skills. David Kapuler has been working with technology and k12 education for over 12 years. David has been a technology integration specialist as well as a technology support specialist. He has provided professional development for district staff as well at the state conference level. David specializes in web 2.0 and 21st century technology as well as a strong background in web design. He maintains an award nominated blog and professional blog for Technology & Learning magazine, where he has been published over six times in print and over 30 times online. About the Presenters Dan King, the former Instructional Technology Coordinator for the School District of Onalaska is currently working as an Instructional Technology Specialist with Innovative Educator Consulting. Dan has actively been presenting iPad workshops around the state from deployment to integration since coming on board in June. Dan is excited about the possibilities of iPads in the classroom and offers much to his participants. You can follow Dan on Twitter at @danking56 Sally King recently retired from the School District of Onalaska, has more than 34 years of experience serving the speech and language needs of a wide spectrum of students in the K-12 environment. She has worked extensively to meet student needs in the areas of augmentative communication, social/behavioral skill development, assistive technology and autism spectrum disorders. Serving as a school district technology coach, Sally has also devoted much of her time to helping others find and use the technology tools that best meet the needs of students. Meeting the challenging needs of our special education students through technology is central to her beliefs. Mary Lou Ley is the director of the Wisconsin Peer Coaching Collaborative. She has trained and coordinated Peer Coaching programs across the state of Wisconsin. The collaborative has brought teachers from across the state of Wisconsin together to learn about coaching while helping them build capacity for professional learning. Mary Lou Ley has committed over thirty years to public education’s school improvement initiatives; evaluating programs, developing and providing current research-based practices in online and face-to-face formats. Beth Lisowski has 13 years of experience in public education and training in the Google Apps for Education Suite. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and a Masters of Science degree in Educational Leadership. She is currently the Technology Integration Coach for the school district of Black River Falls and is an adjunct professor for Viterbo University. She has presented at conferences, hosted workshops, held summer technology camps and lead in-services at many school districts. Her passion is engaging students in learning by using technology. Jennifer Malphy is a 4K-12 Teacher Librarian and District Technology Coordinator for the Kickapoo Area School District in Viola, WI. This is her 15th year working as a 4K- 12 Teacher Librarian. She loves using technology with her students and has been a leader in getting eReaders, specifically NOOKs, into her building and in the hands of teachers and students. Jennifer has recently presented at the Wisconsin Educational Media and Technology Association (WEMTA) on topics such as eReaders and student created book trailers using Animoto. Tim Nielsen, ME-PD, 1st Grade Teacher for the School District of Holmen, District Technology Integration Coach. Tim enjoys teaching and sharing best practices with staff to further their learning in fun, unique, and enriching ways.
