NYU STUDENT CENTER For my MFA thesis project, I rebranded New York University and designed a Student Center. My research determined that “Activated Circulation” creates opportunities for impromptu interactions which enhance learning. I considered circulation as an essential program element, expanded the circulation size, and provided seating adjacent to the paths. The zig-zagging horizontal circulation paths on each floor symbolize the winding paths that life can take. The stadium stair with integrated seating, and the ramp which connects the trio of mezzanines, are the highlights of the vertical circulation design. Two story shafts of light visually connect the two floors.

RÉFLEXION HOTEL LOBBY The design of the Réflexion Hotel was inspired by the lights of the Jacques Cartier bridge in Montréal, Canada and the reflections they create on the water below. The lobby was designed with an emphasis on architectural lighting and reflective materials. The columns are illuminated to function as a wayfinding tool and to emphasize the verticality of the design. The bronze-trimmed cove lights of the central elevator bank unify the two floors.

RÉFLEXION HOTEL EXECUTIVE SUITE The Executive Suite of the Réflexion Hotel was intended to stimulate a visual and spatial sense of wonder. The design, reminiscent of an art installation, was inspired by the lights of the Jacques Cartier bridge in Montréal, Canada and the reflections they create on the water below. The minimal all-white interior with color-changing LED lights provides an opportunity for a visitor to interact with the Instagramable design. Using a remote in the room, a guest selects which color of light will illuminate the space and bathe the room in an evolving light-show throughout the day and night.

BRIGHTER FUTURE WELLNESS CENTER Brighter Future is a health and wellness center designed to aid young adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in their transition from living with their parents to living in a group home. The center provides holistic care for mental, physical, social, and financial health. Many people with ASD are extremely gifted at math, problem solving, and pattern detection. To honor these advantages, the cube-inspired design is highlighted both in the spacial layout and the fractal-patterned embellishments. Lastly, the tactile materials on the vertical surfaces were chosen to delight the primary users who commonly run their hands along the nearest surface while walking.

CHAPPAQUA CHILDREN'S INFINITY CENTER The design for the Chappaqua Public Library Children's Infinity Center was inspired by the idea of infinite knowledge. The spacial layout was centered around the figure-eight infinity symbol.

Custom curved bookcases with integrated reading nooks and doorway portals define infinity-shaped spaces for each age group.

The bookcases rise in height for aging grade levels and are backed in different colors to provide intuitive, self-directed navigation. By placing resources for older kids farther away from the librarians' desk, children are empowered with increased autonomy and decreased adult oversight.
