HISTORY The Ashanti monarchy is one of the most protected traditional state in the pre-colonial West African state. Tradition has it that the original Ashanti stool made of pure gold floated out of the sky and landed on the lap ofthe first Ashanti king (Asantehene) Osei-Tutu. His chief priest declared that the soul of the Ashanti kingdom resided in this stool. The stool after then has been hidden in an undisclosed location and no one has set their eyes on it. The quest to posses it brought a lot of wars to the Ashanti kingdom.Because the golden stool is a symbol of unity of the Ashanti kingdom and represents royalty it has been imitated and used by the King, Chiefs and members of the royal family. Most of the original imitations were made of wood.

Stools have recently become seats of everyday use, and this Ashanti stool has become a common stool used for various purposed in Ghana. Its function has changed over the years and it is being used in various homes all over the country

TRADITIONAL ELEMENTS Ghanaians have a lot spiritual, symbolic and sometimes hard to believe attachment to objects that might be taken for granted elsewhere.

KENTE

These symbols are called the ADINKRA SYMBOLS, each of them have a meaning. Kente is a royal and sacred cloth which was worn only in times of extreme importance and was the cloth of kings. Over time, the use of kente became more widespread. However, its importance has remained and it is held in high esteem.

MATERIALS MATERIALS

The stool is made of laser cut or press cut metal sheets. The metal sheets is in stainless steel (Gold or Silver) to give it a rich and highly appealing look. To make the seat more comfortable a polyutherane foam upholstered with a traditional hand woven kente fabric is secured on the stool.

DETAILS The stool comes in two parts and is assembled by connecting these parts with interlocking joints ans secured with the snap-fit mechanism.
