FROM THE COMMUNITY DESK

Creating a safe, beautiful and well-managed environment for our residents is always our top priority at Warsan Village.

The newly implemented Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) system streamlines vehicle entry and exit while strengthening security by restricting unauthorised access.

Our landscaping and beautification efforts further enhance the community’s charm, with 5,000 sqm of seasonal flowers planted at all entrances.

Additionally, the new gazebos and grill fence behind the clubhouse add both functionality and aesthetic appeal to shared spaces.

Food Scraps To Helpful Hacks

Sustainability starts at home and the choices we make every day can add up to a huge difference for our planet.

Here are some simple, creative ways to repurpose your food scraps at home so they stay out of the bin and are put to better use.

Banana peels to supercharged fertilizer.

Chop and bury them in your plants or blend with water. Your garden is going to have a spa day with the ‘au-naturel’ nutrients.

Leftover Orange Peels?

These are not just scraps, once dried and powdered, they are your new allnatural dyes for painting, fabric or even adding a colourful twist to your food.

Don’t toss those watermelon rinds just yet.

Chop them up, mix with water and voilà! A nutrientpacked juice is ready to give your garden soil a tasty boost.

Morning Brew Fun Fact

Did you know that one cup of coffee creates about 0.45 kg of CO₂?

Close to the footprint you’d leave if you were driving your car for 2kms. Sipping from a carton cup? That carbon adds up even more.

Easy swaps can help shrink your footprint:

Bring your own reusable cup

Ditch single-use sugar packets and creamers

Choose organic or local beans

Swap plastic stirrers for wooden or metal spoons

Small changes, big impact. Make every sip kinder to our planet.

HOME & HEART

One of the joys of community living is finding friendships right outside your doorstep.

This feature celebrates neighbours who become companions, cheerleaders, and even extended family, making our communities feel like home.

This month, we share the story of how a walk through the community blossomed into a beautiful bond between two families, reminding us that the best part of home is often the friends next door.

When we moved to this community a year ago, I met Mamta outside her home and a friendly chat quickly turned into a tour of her house and backyard. We soon discovered many coincidences.

Our children went to the same school and both our mothers lived with us. Naturally, the kids became friends and so did our moms. What began as a neighbourly hello has grown into a bond that feels like family.

We carpool, always check in on each other and whenever one of us cooks something special, a portion always finds its way to the other’s home. Moving into a new community can feel overwhelming, but connections like these make it feel like home.

RULEBOOK ROUND UP

BRIGHT CELEBRATIONS, SAFE HOMES

Ahead of the holiday season, here is a safety checklist to ensure that your celebrations remain bright for your family and your visitors.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

Inspect old light fittings for damaged sockets or frayed wires.

Use only certified materials with the CE mark for safety.

NEIGHBOURLY ETIQUETTE

Do not aim spotlights or halogen lights toward neighbouring properties.

Flashing decorative lights with visible glare are not allowed.

Permitted lights may be installed up to 7 days before a celebration and must be removed within 7 days after.

OPEN FLAMES

Never leave candles, lamps or lanterns unattended.

Keep them away from furniture, bedding and curtains.

Place on stable surfaces to prevent tipping.

Always keep out of reach of children and pets.

With the weather getting better, it’s the perfect time to enjoy a BBQ with family and friends.

Ensure everyone has a safe and pleasant experience and keep these guidelines in mind.

LOCATION

Use designated community barbecue areas and grills only. Avoid grilling too close to buildings, trees or dry grass to prevent fire hazards.

SUPERVISION

Never leave the grill unattended. Always have someone responsible nearby while the barbecue is in use.

FIRE SAFETY

Keep a fire extinguisher, bucket of water or sand close by in case of emergencies. Make sure the grill is completely cooled down before leaving.

CLEANLINESS

Dispose of charcoal, ashes and trash in proper containers. Clean up promptly after your grill to maintain a pleasant environment for all.

Empty standing water from pots and trays regularly.

Keep drains and gutters clean and covered.

Use mosquito nets, screens or UV insect traps in the rooms.

Don’t leave open containers of water or stagnant water in bird baths.

Fight The Bite

As the weather cools off, the mosquitoes RSVP themselves to your home like uninvited party crashers. The good news?

Here are some effective ways to keep them far away from your space.

Trim overgrown plants and gardens to reduce hiding places. Report heavy mosquito infestations to the community management team immediately.
