DIMAPUR: District development coordination meeting was held under the Chairmanship of Lok Sabha, MP Neiphiu Rio accompanied by MLA Pohwang on September 20, at DC’s conference Hall, Mon. At the meeting, Rio informed the members that the Angh residence at Longwa
village would be held on October 25, thereby all district head of offices and leaders of NGOs have been requested to attend. He also urged all the departments of the district to actively participate to develop the Longwa village, which is adopted by him under SAGY, to make a model
village for the whole district. The Chairman also approves the reconstituted DDC&MC committee for Mon district as per the new guidelines. During the review of the performance of the dept. of RD, PHED, LRD & SW, implementing various National flagship programme’s in the district, the Chairman encouraged all the members to give a coordinated effort to identify the best livelihood option for the people of district to increase the per capita income level. He also said the house could endorse for any shortfall in funding to achieve the target to take up the matter in the higher level. MLA Pohwang, also urged the deptt. of PHED to initiate the early inauguration of the Mon Town water supply source at S/wamsa. The meeting was attended by all district heads of line deptt, administrative officers and NGOs leaders. Later, vote of thanks by DC Mon and member Secretary, DDC&MC W. Honje Konyak.

YouthNet conducts career guidance prog

DIMAPUR: Two-day career guidance programme was conducted by YouthNet Nagaland in partnership with Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) and Phek Town Chakhesang Students’ Union (PTCSU) on September 21 and 22. Speaking at the interactive session, head of training and development Nune Chase encouraged the gathering to follow one’s heart while choosing a career. Various job opportunities, career courses and free training available under YouthNet and PMKVY i.e skill development training was highlighted by head of operation, Ebibeni Humtsoe, while YouthNet director Lezo Putsure, conducted the business session with entrepreneurs
and unemployed youths and YouthNet chief analyst John Meyase shared about financial management. Handouts of SWOT and RAISEC test were distributed to students to identify one’s strength and improve over their weaknesses. Altogether 769 students, 20 entrepreneurs and 30 unemployed youth along with drop-out students attended the programme. Later, host on behalf of the students and general public have lauded the Youthnet team for their valuable service and concern towards the students’ community, and further acknowledged the district administration Phek, and Phek Town Baptist Church for their assistance in making the event a success.
LIC organises ‘Students of the Year Award’ at MHSS DIMAPUR: Model Higher Secondary School (MHSS) Kohima held Student of the Year Award function, sponsored by Life Insurance Corporation (LIC) Kohima on September 21 at the School Auditorium. The awards were presented to the toppers of Class 5 – 10 by Branch manager LIC Kohima S. Khaling. Nenchulo Woch highlighted on the LIC students of the Year Award. A slide show was screened on the importance of insurance; a special number was presented by the School music club; welcome address was delivered by Administrator Easter and vote of thanks was delivered by vice principal Athihrii. Earlier in his brief speech, the branch manager exhorted the student to have a vision in life as they are fortunate to be physically and mentally fit. He said the LIC is a premier financial institution that is concerned about the future of students and urged them to think about their security and insurance for future prospects.
CCF conducts fasting cum seminar prog RBCA Nagaland holds ‘Bible Study Camp’
DIMAPUR: Concerned Chee Forum (CCF) held its first fasting cum seminar program on September 12 at Mission Centre Baptist Church, Mon Town. The first session constituted prayer and fasting with an objective to seek God’s forgiveness and blessing for the people of Chee community, and God’s consent and guidance for the working of CCF. In the second session, a seminar was conducted with program officer Hills Area Development Organization (HADO), Chingmei Konyak, JDA (Treasuries & Accounts), P. Khanlong, and principal KHSS Mon, C. Nyamto Wangsha as resource persons. They
spoke on the topics; “Communications and Presentation Skill”, “Competitive Exams and Interview Preparedness” and “Child’s Education and Development” respectively. The session was chaired by M. Mankhat and concluding remark was given by CCF president, Y. Nockyam Wangnao. It may be mentioned that CCF was formed on August 13 by few concerned people from four Sheanghah villages with an aim to address emerging issues and work for the welfare of students and the people of its community. The four villages as one unit was originally known as Hahmongchee, thus, the forum derived its middle name thee’.
