PTYS and PCCI condemn

DIMAPUR: Phek Town Youth Society (PTYS) and Phek Chamber of Commercial and Industries (PCCI) have jointly condemned the fraudulent failure of State Food and Civil Supplies Department under Public Distribution System (PDS) where PDS items meant for the few genuine beneficiaries does not even receive their share of food grain in the state. A press note by Phek Town Youth Society press secretary, Kedupa Venuh stated that both PTYS and PCCI support ACAUT in their endeavor. Further, Phek Town Youth Society would be organizing a variety show cum carnival night on December 21 for charity relief to poor and needy people during this Christmas. DIMAPUR: Naga Students’ Organization (NSO), Myanmar organized its 5th general conference from December 13-15 at Mala Taung Hall, Lahe town under the theme “Conquer Impediments” with NSAZ government executive member U Law Yone as chief guest. At the conference, the house adopted resolutions to closely monitor the educational system in all Nagainhabited areas and to strictly check the excessive use of opium in the region. New office bearers headed by president T. Mankhat Konyak, general secretary Myint Naing and executive chairman L. Patun were also elected. Further, Naga Students’ Organization (NSO) and Naga Students and Youth’s Federation (Myanmar) have agreed to share responsibilities. Both parties unanimously concurred that NSO would deal with the students activities and would remain as apex body for the Naga students, whereas NSYF-M would change its nomenclature to NYF and would deal with all youth activities and would remain as apex body for entire Naga youths. The two organizations have agreed to work hand in hand for the betterment of the Naga society. The next general conference is scheduled to be held at Layshi town.

DIMAPUR: Komalpad training camp of Hindustan Scouts & Guides was successfully conducted from December 6 to 10 at Carmel Higher Secondary School (CHSS), 4th Mile, Dimapur where a total of 181 scouts and guides participated.

A special session was conducted by director, Development Association of Nagaland (DAN), Fr Charles. Awareness of Swachh Bharat was also organized around the school and Chekiye village area, in which all the scouts and

ONA condemns police action

DIMAPUR: Overseas Naga Association (ONA) has expressed deep dismay at the media reports of the public rally organized by ACAUT on December 15 at Dimapur, wherein the police resorted to tear gas, water cannon to disperse the peaceful protestors against corruption. A press note by ONA president, Visier Sanyü and secretary general, Paul Pimomo stated that the egalitarian Naga society had been disconnected into two class society, where a small and powerful elite could, “use

force against their own people for peacefully protesting against corruption and injustice in our land.” ONA questioned as to who else may be responsible for this “since corruption of the proportion that exists in Nagaland requires an intricate network to succeed”. However ONA asserted that “ACAUT and similar organizations must win for the sake of our society.” It also extended its Christmas wishes and hopes for a new life in 2017 for the people.

ACAUT acknowledges public support DIMAPUR: ACAUT Nagaland has extended its appreciation at the support and concern shown by various organizations and people from all walks of life, irrespective of tribes, creed and colour during the signature campaign held from December 13 to 14 and the peaceful rally on December 15. ACAUT media cell stated that despite the stiff opposition and brute force of the government, people had responded with true grit and resolve. ACAUT Nagaland also appreciated the courage exhibited by the mothers and women folks who protected their men folks by encircling and covering them. It stated that the bravery shown by the mothers and the women folks have demonstrated that the prayers of thousands of mothers were with ACAUT, further strengthening its resolve to fight harder in the fight against corruption.
