CHAIR FOLLY - Nature Walk Surprise

Starting with an abstraction of the ionic Le Corbusier

Lounge chair, this project developed the design of a folly that would act as a surprise focal point along a nature walk. After exploring various design ideas, scaled plans were created along with hand rendering the proposed perspective. Finally, a scaled model was built within a represented space to complete the project.

This fun project proposed a meditation room design for a famous person of our choice. Selecting entrepreneur Elon Musk inspired a design for a uniquely shaped room. Because of his fascination with outer space, the room created reflected a planet, spherically shaped. Further, because of his involvement in many different companies (Tesla, Solar City, SpaceX, etc.), the thought of Elon Musk sitting in a room meditating did not align. Instead a walking path was installed to encourage meditation while walking.

THINKTUARY - Futuristic Purpose

Design development included character research to inspire design, scaled drawings to detail ideas, a hand rendering of the room within its proposed environment, and ending with the construction of a scaled model.

These hand renderings were completed using markers along with pencil crayons for texture and fine details. Layering technique was used to develop color and depth.

HAND RENDERINGS

This project focused on the repurposed design of a school into a Community Centre for the Wildrose area. Design intent and mood board were created to guide design ideas and color schemes. The intent of this space was to act as a catalyst for its visitors to learn, grow, and evolve. As seen above, various iterations of space planning and design details helped to finalize design. This page includes an image of the mood board and a Sketch-Up rendering of the Central HUB space.

To complete the Wildrose Community Centre project, construction drawings were created using AutoCAD. Construction research to determine proper wall structure, reception desk joinery, and feature wall construction was completed for accuracy of the drawings created. Completed construction package includes all construction details along with finishes and furniture selection charts.

Creativity and collaboration was key when determining the design for this project. This newly designed space for Xactly Advertising company needed an open functionality to help create a collaborative work environment. As seen above, every portion of the space underwent design iterations to flush out the best ideas. The mood board created portrays a modern work space with playful pops of color. The final floor plan created maintained the open and collaborative space through space planning and specific furniture selection. AutoCAD and Photoshop programs were used to create that image.

XACTLY ADVERTISING - Office Design

The bright pop of pink color throughout the space helps to spark employee creativity and relays the uniqueness of the company brand. All portions of the design were modeled and rendered in Sketch-Up. Post-production Photoshop editing completed the images as shown.

The spaces shown here highlight the bright, naturally-lit space of the Staff Room and the collaborative design of the employee open work space.

This design project was selected as 1 of 6 Finalists in the Staples Business Advantage Office Design Competition for 2018.

XACTLY ADVERTISING - Office Design

This was a two-person group project that designed a kiosk in Cross Iron Mills Mall for a high-end hat retailer, Tilted Crown. To help draw customers towards the kiosk, we designed quirky, tilted shelving with glassbacked cabinets to display the brightly colored merchandise. Kiosk floor plans and elevations were created in AutoCAD for pre-approval of design. The final model was created and rendered in Sketch-Up and post-production edited in Photoshop.
