About the Centre for Environmental Law: The Centre for Environmental Law (CEL) is an independent, non-profit research centre established in 2010. CEL is under the aegis of Youth Parliament of Jammu & Kashmir, a registered International Youth Organization. It has its offices at Jammu & Srinagar.

Vision: The aim of the CEL is to contribute to the establishment and implementation of legal and institutional frameworks that foster the sustainable conservation and use of the environment and natural resources in an equitable international context.

The Centre for Environmental Law (CEL) was established in 2010 as a standing Committee of Youth Parliament of Jammu & Kashmir. Apart from handling and furthering YPJK's conservation work involving policy analysis, campaigning and legal interventions on environmental issues, CEL serves as a resource centre for teaching environmental law and research in regional, national and international context. To implement its programs, CEL is building functional and professional linkages with the government institutions and non-governmental organizations in Jammu & Kashmir as well as at the regional, national and international levels. CEL receives support from various national and international organizations.

Activities of CEL:     

Undertakes capacity development of institutions in the field of environmental law. Conducts research on various enviro-legal issues. Supports the legal dimension of YPJK's mission, which often entails legal interventions. Conducts Certificate Course in Environmental Law for a better understanding of green law issues in J&K & India. Disseminates information on green law through newspapers, publications, books and its Green Law Lecture series.
