November 19-21, 2010 It’s here, and it’s “AN ELLE OF A SHOW” (TIME Magazine). The hilarious MGM film is Broadway’s new smash hit musical, and now LEGALLY BLONDE THE MUSICAL is coming to you. Legally Blonde follows sorority star Elle Woods, an underestimated blonde who doesn’t take “no” for an answer. When her boyfriend dumps her for someone more “serious,” Elle puts down the credit card, hits the books, and sets out to go where no Delta Nu has gone before: Harvard Law. Along the way, Elle proves that being true to yourself never goes out of style. After turning Broadway and MTV hot pink, this “Feel-Good Song and Dance Juggernaut” (New York Magazine) is “The Best New Musical Around!” (WOR) “My daughter fell in love with the movie and begged me to take her to the musical on Broadway. I gave in and was pleasantly surprised. The show was fantastic, the sets and costumes elaborate and we had one of the best times at the Theatre.”

Lisa Thomas, Archbald, PA

February 11-13, 2011 BLUE MAN GROUP is best known for their wildly popular theatrical shows and concerts which combine comedy, music, and technology to produce a totally unique form of entertainment. The New York Times heralds the show as “One of the most delightful performance pieces ever staged.” E! Entertainment News exclaims, “BLUE MAN GROUP is what every live performance aspires to be.” Although it is impossible to describe, people of all ages agree that BLUE MAN GROUP is an intensely exciting and wildly outrageous show that leaves the entire audience in a blissful, euphoric state. With no spoken language, BLUE MAN GROUP is perfect for people of all ages, languages, and cultures. This Fall, BLUE MAN GROUP takes to the road on its first U.S. theatrical tour. This unique experience is a form of entertainment like nothing else; guaranteed to be an outing you will never forget! “We saw the show in Vegas with our kids and had a great time. An amazing experience and please children of all ages. I recommend it to every family in Scranton.”

March 4-6, 2011 THE COLOR PURPLE, a soul-stirring musical based on the classic Pulitzer Prize-winning novel by Alice Walker and the moving film by Steven Spielberg. It is the unforgettable and inspiring story of a woman named Celie, who finds her unique voice in the world. Nominated for eleven Tony® Awards, THE COLOR PURPLE is a landmark theatrical event, a celebration of love, and a Broadway phenomenon. With a joyous GRAMMY®-nominated score featuring jazz, gospel and blues, THE COLOR PURPLE is capturing the hearts of young and old, and uniting audiences in a community of joy.

“I saw the show three times on Broadway. It is a thoroughly moving, beautiful, touching and exquisite musical that does justice to the film and at the same time provides a magnificent evening of theatre.”

Lisa Bobinchock, Archbald, PA

April 8-10, 2011 Winner of the 2005 Tony Award for Best Musical, MONTY PYTHON’S SPAMALOT is the outrageous new musical comedy lovingly ripped off from the film classic “Monty Python and The Holy Grail.” With a book by Eric Idle and music and lyrics by the Grammy Award-winning team of Mr. Idle and John Du Prez, SPAMALOT tells the tale of King Arthur and his Knights of the Round Table as they embark on their quest for the Holy Grail. Flying cows, killer rabbits, taunting Frenchmen and show-stopping musical numbers are just a few of the reasons audiences everywhere are eating up SPAMALOT.

“I had to get an MRI after seeing the show. I laughed so hard my ribs were sore for days. SP AMALOT is a non-stop, laugh-filled roller coaster ride of sheer fun and hilarious antics. We loved every minute.”

We retired to the Poconos in 2006 from Manhattan and was thrilled to find Broadway Theatre in Scranton. Living in New York City we came to love going to Broadway shows and we thought we would have to drive back to the city to enjoy them once we mov ed out. We came to see one show here and were hooked . No need to drive to NYC. It is so much more conven ient, economical and most of all the shows are as good as we have enjoyed on Broadway. The money we save allows us to treat our kids and grandkids to some of the shows. What a great joy it has been!

We enjoy going to Broadw ay; however, we don’t get to NYC as often as we’d like . We saw a television commercial for the Broadw ay Theatre of NEPA on a local channel. We never realized that we had this quality cultural entertainme nt so close to home (only 75 miles). After our first show, we were immediate ly hooked. We’ve since bro ught family and friends to various shows and they we re as impressed as we are . We’re looking forward to another great season!

Broadway Theatre has been a won derful part of my life for so many years; from attending with my parents many years ago and then attending with my husband and friends. It has always been a ven ue for good Broadway shows but lately, I must say, they are no longer good -they are GREAT! They have taken the step forward and the shows you see here are the sam e shows you would see in New York City. Congratulat ions and keep them coming!

Broadway theatre makes me feel like I live in a very important special city. How lucky we are to be in that rare metropolis to have its own Broadway series. The quality of the performances is superb and the staff is wonderfully pleasant, courteous and helpful. I always feel important at Broadway Theatre. James P. Connors, former Mayor

Michael Flatley’s LORD OF THE DANCE Described by the New York Post as “fascinating, rewarding and above all, entertaining,” and by the Los Angeles Times as “a showpiece extravaganza,” Lord of the Dance is a mesmerizing blend of traditional and modern Celtic music and dance.  The story is based upon mythical Irish folklore as Don Dorcha, Lord of Darkness, challenges the ethereal lord of light, the Lord of the Dance. Battle lines are drawn, passions ignite and a love story fueled by the dramatic leaps and turns of dancers’ bodies begins to build against a backdrop of Celtic rhythm.
