Well it’s that time of year. The hustle and bustle of running here and there, shopping, eating, gift giving and travel. It’s so easy to get caught up in the ‘stuff’ that we often forget the reason we celebrate the season. I encourage you all to slow down, take a deep breath and be mindful of the things in life that we so often take for granted. Be thankful for our blessings, be they few or many. New Members

It’s always exciting to welcome new members to WRCC. It’s great to see our chamber family grow. However, it’s doubly exciting to welcome a brand new business to our area. I have the extreme pleasure to announce a new food venue to our area, Kimoyo Japanese Restaurant. Located in the New Market Center just down from Kmart, this latest addition to our growing restaurant selection will open shortly after the New Year. I recently met with owner, Alex Nguyen, and had the opportunity to tour the new space and it looks great! They have completely rebuilt the space to fit the needs of the restaurant. With locations in High Point, Clemmons, and Kernersville, we are extremely excited to welcome Kimono Japanese Restaurant to Western Rockingham County! New Board Members It’s also the time of year that we welcome new board members. Please take note in this month’s newsletter of the complete listing. We are very appreciative of those folks who are willing to serve and help our chamber continue to grow! Please help me in making them feel welcome and appreciated for their efforts to help your WRCC. Upcoming Events and Happenings From the upcoming spring event, Rockingham County’s Largest Yard Sale Ever... Really! to this summer’s Madison CruiseFEST, 2011 is sure to be an active year for WRCC and it’s membership. Stay tuned for information concerning our annual WRCC Awards Dinner. Plans are underway for a late February event. Also, be on the lookout for award nomination forms which will be available soon. I encourage you to nominate a local, deserving business! Also, look for upcoming information on the WRCC Ambassador Program. This is an exciting new program that will be spearheaded by Carol Mills of Always and Forever Florist. It’s a great opportunity to get involved in your local chamber! Sad, but Joyful News As some of you may know, this is my final month serving as executive director of your WRCC. It has been my immense pleasure working for the many great local businesses we have here in Rockingham County. Even in a difficult economy, we have initiated several exciting new services and programs at WRCC over the last two years and we are set for a stellar 2011. I am extremely thankful to a wonderful board of directors that have supported me and the many efforts of WRCC. These are local business people who are

working hard to help your business grow and I thank them for their support. I also wish to thank the staff of WRCC. These ladies work extremely hard everyday to offer services to our community that, otherwise, we would have to travel elsewhere to accomplish. But, as sad as it is to be leaving, it gives me great joy to introduce the interim director for WRCC, Robin Corns. Robin is a local business owner, chamber member and, yes, my wife! The board of directors felt Robin would offer the perfect transition. She will serve in the role until March 1, 2011 allowing the search committee time to review possible replacements. I hope you will join me in making Robin feel as welcome as you made me feel and remember to.... let
