Rockingham County ‘s Worthless Check Program
Support Groups & Classes are offered by Annie Penn Hospital (www.mosescone.com) and Morehead Memorial Hospital (www. morehead.org) each month. Please check their websites for details.
I want to take this opportunity to thank all the merchants of Rockingham County that participated in the Worthless Check Program in 2009. Our program is very valuable to our merchants. Without the Worthless Check Program, merchants would spend a great deal of time and money trying to retrieve their loss from the worthless checks they receive.
Talking Murals — A 30-minute presentation of three large paintings, brilliantly colorful, professionally narrated, and enhanced by a computerized lighting and sound system; at Mount Tabor United Methodist Church, Hwy 220 South, Madison, free admission, open Mon-Sat 10-5, Sunday 1-5, closed on holidays.
For the merchants that are not familiar with our program, we would be glad to help you. This program is extremely simple to utilize. When your bank returns a worthless check, you send the check writer a certified letter. Our office provides you with the letter. All you have to do is fill in the blanks and send it to the check writer by certified mail. If the check writer does not respond to you within fifteen (15) days after you mail your letter then you send the check and the receipt for the certified mailing to our office and we take it from there. Except for the money for the certified mailing, this procedure is completely FREE to you.
NEWSLETTER INSERTS For the Western Flyer are limited to 7 and are on a first come, first served basis (Additional inserts will be held for the next available issue).
Please drop your inserts by the chamber office by:
Merchants in our program can collect on checks that have been written within the last twenty-one (21) months. And, it does not matter how small or how large the amount. If you have received a check that is over $2,000.00 this is considered a felony. However, you can still utilize our program to collect your money. The entire program is designed to take the stress off of our merchants. Your time is valuable to you. If you are trying to track down an individual that owes you money this is a loss of time for you and usually an extra expense. We are here to help and would like to hear from you. For further information about our program or any questions you might have please call me at (336) 342-8774 or my assistant, Ann Bradsher, at (336) 342-8773.
