Identity Overview

eco

has been in the electronics recycling industry for over 20 years starting with a collaboration with International Business Machines, Corning Glass and Digital Equipment to find a recycling solution for cathode ray tubes. The company has been providing and expanding processes to recycle all types of post consumer electronics waste. The logo illustrates the company’s ongoing efforts in reducing electronics waste in order to maintain a safe working environment. The purpose of the manual will be to establish specific guidelines for implementing the logo in every possible application including stationery, vehicles, uniforms and promotional items.

Wordmark

SYMBOL The leaf-bulb symbol is the defining element to the company’s logo design. Inspired from the concept of responsible recycling and “going green,” the leaf-bulb symbol represents Eco’s ongoing efforts in reducing electronics waste in order to maintain a safe environment.

WORDMARK The wordmark is presented in Helvetica Neue Bold. There is no ornamentations added to the wordmark, this typeface stands for a strong, yet approachable attribute to the company’s image.

Logo: Primary and Alternate

PRIMARY The primary logo should always be considered first.

ALTERNATE If space is limited, the alternate logo without the wordmark can be used. The symbol can stand as an individual emblem for the company.

To maintain readability and recognizability, the logo should not be reduced smaller than 2.38cm in height.


Logo: Typography The wordmark in the logo is comprised of the typeface Helvetica Neue Bold. The typeface helps achieve a firm, yet approachable appeal to the wordmark to represent the company. The lower case type conforms to the elliptical shapes of the leaf-bulb symbol and rounded rectangle. The wordmark uses Pantone 368 or the CMYK, RGB, grayscale values listed below.

Logo: Unacceptable Formats

Do not use foreign colors in the logo.

Do not scale the logo unproportionally.

Do not place the wordmark elsewhere.

Do not reflect the leaf symbol.

Do not use other typefaces for the wordmark.

Do not add other shapes to the logo.

Stationery: Business Card The die-cut business card is printed on white, double-side card stock measuring 3.5 x 2 inches with every other corner rounded (leaf-shape card). The logo should be centered on the front as shown. The back can be customized for each employee. The Pantone colors are used where specified and the Helvetica Neue typeface in regular, bold and light styles. The leaf-bulb logo is at an opacity of 25% on the back. 3.5”

Stationery: Letterhead The die-cut letterhead is printed on white measuring the standard 8.5 x 11 inches. The rounded corners match the layout of the business card to create a unique letterhead. The address and logo is flush left. The leaf-bulb symbol is at an opacity of 25%. The address is in Helvetica Neue.

Stationery: Envelope The die-cut envelope is printed on white #10 open-end envelope. The logo has a one inch height in the upper right corner. The leaf-bulb symbol has a 2 inch height at a opacity of 25%. The address is in Helvetica Neue.

Truck Design All tractor-trailers used within eco for the transportation of e-waste are also a form of communication for the company. The tractor-trailer uses the same color scheme as the logo. The wordmark is placed on both passenger doors. The logo is centered and the web address and telephone number is placed on the lower corners on both sides.

Uniform Design The employees of eco have the option of wearing the custom embroidered polo shirt or their own formal clothing. The polo shirt resembles a professional look compared to the average t-shirt. The eco logo is embroidered on the left chest pocket or just the left chest area if no pocket is available. The t-shirt is for employees to wear outside of the workplace in addition to a promotional item.

Promotional Items A variety of promotional items will be provided to the public in effort to endorse the company. Each promotional item will be branded with the logo, web address and use the same color scheme as the logo. Promotional items include, but are not limited to pen light keychains, t-shirts, mugs and pens.
