KID’S MINISTRY “God is so faithful!” Stephanie Crockett Children’s Minister We have seen so many incredible things happen in our ministry this year. Families are back worshiping with us, children are in small group and MDWK hearing about Jesus. Children are making decisions to follow Jesus! It was so exciting to have in person VBS this year where kiddos got to hear the gospel and respond. Launching our Greenbrier campus was exciting and so many leaders have stepped up to serve in KidMin and share the love of Jesus with our Greenbrier community. We have also been busy building a new KidMin team with

Rebecca Rupert and Sarah Simer. Again, God is faithful and the future is bright!

Shout out and thank you to Rebecca

Rupert and Sarah Simer for stepping in and taking on A LOT of responsibility. Both are doing a great job! Church, you are blessed to have them serving you.

We loved seeing all the kiddos in their Easter outfits and giving them a

200 kiddos a gift box full of goodies Easter morning. We loved having over 340 gift after our Easter service at the Expo. We gave

kiddos each day on our campus at VBS this year. Our largest day was with

346 kids and over 80 leaders. What a blessing to have a

KidMin baptism Sunday at our West Conway Campus back in May

13 kiddos and a baptism Sunday in Greenbrier where 8 children were baptized. We have baptized 25 children this year! God is so good! where we baptized

We had a great church-wide training this summer and Amy Stogsdill, one of our 1st & 2nd grade teachers, stepped up to train our other leaders on how to grab the kiddos attention and make the Bible come alive. After sitting in Amy’s training, Brandi Wilcox, one of our 3rd & 4th grade leaders, told me how excited she was to teach and use what she had learned in the training with her class. This training breathed new life and excitement into Brandi’s commitment to lead and teach our 2ND Kids! I’m thankful that God uses all of us in His story where He is always working for our good and His glory!

STUDENT MINISTRY “This year was all about reconnecting after a difficult 2020.” Nathan McDivitt - Student Minister We focused on reaching those who hadn’t

connected with us since COVID started. In addition to that, we placed an emphasis on evangelism and using our circles of

influence to invite friends to encounter

Jesus in student ministry. We have also seen God begin to start moving in our

student ministry in Greenbrier. We started with a couple of hangouts - pool parties and

gatherings at the Hangar - then in September we launched our small groups in homes in Greenbrier. We look forward to seeing God continue to move in students’ lives in Conway and Greenbrier!

JP McCarron felt the Lord calling him into ministry in April at our DNOW. Since then, he’s gone on his first Mission Trip to OKC, led out in some of our small groups, and has begun leveraging his friendships on the golf team to show them Jesus and invite them to 2ND. 8

THANK YOU Tyler and Jordan Bass

Their connections and friendships have been crucial to our growth and establishing a student ministry in Greenbrier. They have opened their home to host a small group as well as recruited others in their neighborhood to host and serve. We are extremely grateful for the Bass family and what they mean in 2ND Students Greenbrier.

8 students indicated that God was calling them into students, kids, or pastoral ministry. > We also had 5 students go on their first mission trip to Oklahoma City in July. > We have had 72 1st-time guests at MDWK or in Small Groups from January to August. Of those, 24 have plugged into WC or GB campuses. > We’ve connected with 65+ students in Greenbrier since August.

> We had our DNOW in April where

COLLEGE MINISTRY “God is moving in the college ministry in a very big way!” Donnie De La Cruz - College Minister We have a student leadership team that we call “Ambassadors.” These leaders were trained to do ministry here at 2ND but also to have gospel

appointments on their college campuses. Since the semester started our 28 Ambassadors have

had over 70 gospel contacts that have led to many gospel conversations and testimonies being shared. On top of that, we have had 6

baptisms, dozens of rededications, and 2 students answer the call to missions.

I am excited to see the culture change from being insider-focused to mission-focused. I am so proud of the 2ND College students and

excited to see how God is going to use them to build his Kingdom here in Conway!

2ND FAM listen, you should be proud of your college students. They are focused on making Jesus known throughout their college campuses. Pray for them to keep having boldness, that God would bless their evangelistic efforts, and that they would continue to be real with one 10

another as they learn to follow Jesus daily.

Over the summer we had Bible studies at our house

25 students. Since the start of the fall semester, we have averaged around 55

and averaged around

students in Small Groups. Our Thursday worship nights have been amazing! We are averaging around

students coming to worship. Every week we give them the freedom to respond to the message and it seems like every week a student is coming forward for prayer or to make a decision for Jesus. Your students are praying and doing ministry with their peers and I am telling you, it is

I want to say thank you to all of my Ambassadors! You guys are killing it and your faithfulness to know Jesus, choose community, and live the gospel is becoming contagious to anyone who sees y’all!

Our goal for 2022 is to have MORE gospel conversations! We want to see more students saved, baptized, and plugged into the 2ND Fam! One way that we plan on making that happen is by hosting monthly themed nights that will attract more students to come to check out 2ND. We also want our students to serve outside the 2ND Fam and go on mission trips. We have a Spring Break mission trip planned with a church plant that we are connected to in Brooklyn.

MINISTRY TO WOMEN “I have loved seeing our women dig deep into the Word together and just be together.” Jacki King - Women’s Minister We tackled the book of Jude during our Midweek study and I have never seen our women wrestle through so many deep theological truths before. Their hearts to serve others well and share the gospel with both grace and truth showed in their weekly praying over names of loved ones and friends who needed to hear the gospel. We also held our first in person Gathering Event since Feb. 2020 and the night was so full being able to worship alongside one another and fellowship afterwards with s’mores and tacos. The room was overtaken by the sound of our women’s voices declaring the goodness of God and how He is working in our losses and deaths, bringing about new life.

> We had over

80 women in

our Midweek Jude bible study > We had

NEW Moms 2ND Monday launched to help gather and encourage moms each month. Lead by Amy Daniels and her leadership team.

to encourage young moms, step in to help decorate, and be a smiling face to welcome others. We are so thankful for you!

This last year has been nothing short of amazing watching our small group grow. We are averaging 10 every Sunday and have become such a tight group. We all communicate throughout the week and help pick each other up on bad days. We’ve

had one accept Jesus and we all get together to walk, eat and pitch in where we have needs. Excited to see what God has in store for this special group. Nobody has to do this life alone or feel left out anymore. - Candace Meeks

THANK YOU Thank you to Gretchen and Allison Price for always showing up to serve and with huge smiles. You serve in multiple ministries and constantly give of your time and energy and our church would not be what it is without you.

SENIOR ADULTS “The Senior Adults of 2ND have always held the church together by praying and seeking to please the Lord...” Darrel Ray - Minister to Senior Adults During the year we have been witnesses to the 2ND Family reaching out to each other in ways that truly minister to those in need. Whether it be by phone calls, texts, front porch visits, or a simple smile and “Hello” at church, the Senior Adult ministry has stepped up to fill the needs of those who are lonely and unable to attend church.

THANK YOU Vernon Palmer He has been such an encouragement to the staff and me in particular. Vernon is always willing to go the “extra mile’ to get things accomplished and do whatever needs to be done.

THANK YOU Phil Tacker Phil has had such a burden for the men at 2ND. He has organized, promoted, and staffed the Men’s Prayer Breakfast. We have realized a tremendous spirit that comes from guys getting together to pray and lift one another up.

THANK YOU Kent Womack Thanks for being such a good Hymn Leader/Singer/Joke teller/ friend. Kent is one of those behind the scene guys that is as faithful as he is talented. Thanks for all you 14

do that no one sees.

In spite of the atmosphere of the pandemic keeping so many isolated, the Senior Adults of 2ND have always held the church together by praying, ministering and seeking to please the LORD in any way they can. It really was an odd year, but it just shows us that we don’t have to be tied to traditional ways to achieve what the LORD wants. We simply are called to be faithful.

Traditional Service starts back November 14 and we are looking forward to meeting each week. Senior Adult Breakfast, Luncheon, and other activities will resume and we look forward to the fellowship and fun.

wORSHIP MINISTRY “It will surely be echoed through every other ministry, but the Lord has been so good to us this year.” Bailey Byers Associate Worship Minister It has been so exciting and life-giving each weekend to look out on the congregation and see more and more people returning to worship together (and plenty of new faces!). Part of that excitement has been the return of our worship choir on Sunday mornings. They do such a fantastic job of encouraging our church to worship, and modeling what that looks like. There has been an increase of energy, excitement, and engagement since they have jumped back in to helping us lead in worship. That kind of joy translates to the congregation! I can see it every week. I truly sense that the Lord is doing something new and fresh in our church as we pursue worshipping Him in spirit and in truth, and I can’t wait to see where He leads us in 2022! In 2021, we have onboarded

new people into the worship band, choir and tech teams!

Carly Unholtz is a sophomore nursing major at UCA and she works part time at Conway Regional as a tech in the Covid ICU. Serving on our Sunday morning and Youth worship teams, as well as the Greenbrier Launch team, Carly is a part of so many areas of our church. Not to mention she is in the inaugural class of our new internship program, helping lead and program worship for our Thursday night College services! Carly is a 16

rock star! In August of this year, Carly realized that while she’s been involved in church for

Justin and Rebecca Cockrum Justin and his wife Rebecca joined 2ND right before COVID shut everything down, in February of 2020. Since going back to in-person services, Justin has become a vital member of our tech team. From running sound, to manning a camera, to operating media slides, Justin is willing to serve wherever he is needed! He always shows up with a positive attitude and a big smile! “My favorite part of serving on the tech team is getting to be an unseen part of worship for the 2ND Fam. Getting to help lots of people worship with music and the Word (all while sitting in the back)!” If you see Justin at the sound board, stop by and say “hey!”

It is such a blessing to have our choir back on a regular basis leading our Second Family in worship. Each week they are working specifically on the vocal harmonies that add a unique texture to our Sunday services in West Conway. I am humbled to see how many of our worship ministry folks also lead out in so many other ministries of our church, leading both on and off of the stage. Perhaps you would like to join us? Rich Nelson - Worship Minister

a long time, she never fully surrendered her life to Jesus. “I got caught up in the trap that is service vs. surrender,” she says. “I have served somewhere in the church my whole life, but missed the surrender part. I skipped a step.” But now that Carly has fully surrendered herself to the Lordship of Christ, she feels she gets to serve the church in a much more purposeful way because her heart is truly surrendered. Carly continued in obedience to Christ by being baptized in West Conway on College Sunday with several of her peers!

CONNECTIONS “The work of 2ND has not slowed in the last year.” Darrel Ray - Minister of Assimilation As we move forward with so many ministry activities, we see that the church is growing still. Each week we have those who move to the Conway Community, those who live here and are seeking a “family” to worship with, and those who are experiencing a crisis who come and find a smiling face, a shoulder to cry on, and a love that goes beyond the normal friendship.

First Impressions Team is a great way to get involved in all that is happening at 2ND. Everyone is welcome, and we have a spot for YOU! 22

This year we started a new campus in Greenbrier and have received many new members. In total we have over

100 new members to 2ND in 2021. Each has attended Connext New Member Class and most are involved in Small Group and Serving in areas in the church. We have had

286 first time visitors to 2ND as well as over 140 distinct first time college students. THANK YOU Russell Burroughs

Russell heads up the First Impressions Team at the new Greenbrier Campus. He has been open and available from the first day he and April joined 2ND. And now as he coordinates the FIT in GB, he has given so many hours to make things run smooth. THANK YOU James Albritton James has been so good to be our photographer for all our Connext New Member events. He goes above and beyond the call of being just a photographer, but also a good friend and someone with great ideas. Connext Online is in the works and we are looking forward to using a new avenue of ministry. Connext New Member Classes will continue both at West Conway and Greenbrier. First Impression Ministry Training is something we look forward to each year getting new members and training experienced ones as well.

2ND GREENBRIER “August 22, 2021 was an amazing day in the life of our church.” David Raney - Executive Pastor After many months of planning and dreaming, we launched the first-ever campus of Second Baptist Church in the Greenbrier community! Tons of new families packed out both morning services as we welcomed nearly 400 people into the new campus. Week after week, we are meeting new people who are excited to jump in and be a part of what God is doing through 2ND Greenbrier. Relationships are being formed, children are being taught about the love of Jesus, and many are finding their church home where they live, work, and go to school. It’s a special thing to be a part of, and I am excited to watch all that God will do in and through the 2ND Fam in Greenbrier in the years to come.

Being a part of 2ND Greenbrier has been such a blessing to our family! The Lord’s presence has been evident as we extended the family of 2ND Conway to an additional location, bringing some with us while adding many others from the area. We are excited for what the Lord is doing and will continue to do as He accomplishes His work through His people despite our brokenness! 24

THANK YOU SECOND BAPTIST CHURCH FAMILY for being such a missional church. Your generosity and support have made it possible for us to step into the Greenbrier community and make a strong impact from day one. THANK YOU to all of our amazing volunteers who sacrificially serve

with a smile on your face every single week. 2ND Greenbrier would not be what it is without every single one of you and I am grateful for you!

I didn’t know what to expect. But, what I realized is that we have some amazing people who have hearts for service. The months and weeks prior to the opening of the Greenbrier campus I was unsure of how things were going to work. On paper it looked like we had it all figured out, but there was still that question in our minds of “who” will be the ones that will step up and serve in the areas needed. As it grew closer to time that we were to launch, more and more of you came forward and joined the effort of making 2ND Greenbrier happen. I am so thankful to the volunteers that are serving week in and week out to set up, tear down, take care of kids, you name it. You all are amazing! Launching a new campus definitely takes a village. It’s not always easy. It’s not always fun. But, it is rewarding to see what God does through us when we open up our lives to His service. I am truly thankful and excited to see what God does through each and every one of you here in Greenbrier. Tyler Bass - Associate Worship Minister

A WORD FROM JOSH I choose not to sit in despair or be upset about what could have been. As 2019 ended 2ND Baptist was surging, posting the highest attendance and giving numbers we have ever seen as a church family. Our small groups were growing and more and more people were hearing about Jesus. More resources than ever before were being leveraged toward the mission and ministry of Jesus both here and around the world. It was a good time, a mountain top experience. However, as you all know, 2020 brought to us a pandemic that affected us in a myriad of ways. The outlook was bleak and everything appeared to slow or stop completely. There were feelings of sadness, grief and confusion. All of them warranted. The good news is that neither the Holy Spirit nor the 2ND Family remained there. We did not slow down, we did not stop. 2021 has been a great year. Throughout this celebration book you can see stories and triumphs, successes and challenges overcome. The top of them all was the launch of 2ND Greenbrier. God laid on our heart a need to join with the churches in that community to reach the swelling population and to enable our 2NDFam members already living in Greenbrier, Wooster, Springhill and surrounding communities to connect their neighbors, classmates and friends to this special faith family. Over and over God confirmed and blessed this decision. He provided the resources through your generosity. He brought to us leaders and volunteers of the highest caliber. He blessed our staff with wisdom and the needed skills to carry both works. He opened the doors for our church to meet in a beautiful, state of the art facility right in the heart of the community. And to date he has welcomed nearly 250 new individuals to the 2ND Family. No one saw the pandemic coming. No one could have planned for or anticipated its effects on our nation and our world. However, God did. God positioned 2ND Baptist to have a phenomenal year of Gospel work the year following the onslaught of COVID. We have been blessed by our King as we currently sit stronger and healthier than we ever have. As we look forward to 2022 we celebrate. The entire year marks our 100th year in existence and it has been a God-honoring work all the way through. The church family, the entire thing - those who have been with us for years, those who have been gone to Heaven for decades and those who are just now finding home - the entire family has experienced, together, great highs and lows. 2020 wasn’t the first pandemic this church has weathered. It wasn’t the first hard time or uncertain future we faced. But like then, now in Christ we celebrate! 28

My prayer for 2022 is that we will hit six key landmarks:

1 We will give over

$100,000 in a single-day mission offering (Easter).

2 We will see over 100

Families connect to the 2ND Family in membership.

3 We will pray for 100 baptisms of new Christ followers.

4 We will begin the year

with 100 continuous hours of prayer for our city and the mission.

5 We will send 100 individuals on mission projects and work this coming Summer.

6 We will establish a “future

fund” of at least $100,000!

Together, I am fully confident that in the 2022 Celebration Book we will see these goals achieved. The way we celebrate our Centennial will be the breaking of our goals and the furthering of the Gospel of Jesus here in our community. Yesterday we made much of Jesus. Today we make much of Jesus and Tomorrow we will make much of Jesus... For their good and His glory! Josh King
