Authentic Cuban Cuisine Just Got a Little Closer to Home
Visiting Cuba just got easier… now, instead of fl ying into Havana, you can get a taste of Cuba simply by visiting Copacabana Cuban Cuisine in Jupiter! A favorite spot of a number of major league baseball players, Copacabana offers both amazing food and plenty of fun! There is live music every Wednesday through Sunday, and dancing every Friday and Saturday night. In addition to our regular happy hour, from 12PM-6PM, we have happy hour all day Mon.-Thurs at the bar only.

Without a doubt, you need to start with the plantain chip appetizer (“mariquitas con Mojo”- $4.99). Like potato chips, the homemade plantains are impossible to stop eating! And, when dipped into their accompanying, signature Copacabana Mojo sauce, the chips, somehow, become even more irresistible. The crisps are thin, lightly fried (not at all greasy!), and taste both sweet and salty. The Mojo sauce, meanwhile, has a bit of spiciness to it. The result of this combination of fl avors is a powerful, yet still balanced, medley, like a passionate, sophisticated Tango.

Abby’s choice for lunch was the bistec de pollo a la plancha ($10.99), i.e. boneless chicken breast with special spices and onions. I ordered a customer favorite-- ropa vieja ($11.99), i.e. shredded beef stewed in a Spanish sauce with vegetables and

herbs. Each lunch comes with your choice of 2 sides as well, so Abby selected sweet plantains and yellow rice while I picked black beans and boiled cassava (a/k/a yuca).
I asked Abby what she thought of her meal, and she immediately replied, almost breathless, saying, “Oh, it was so good!” She continued, “You get plenty of food for a great price, and it’s delicious too!” The sweetness of the plantains with the savoriness of the chicken is a great pairing, so she recommends that you choose them as a side if you, too, get the bistec de polla a la plancha.
I cannot stress enough that you need to try the ropa vieja. For starters, the smell of it alone is enough to make your mouth water. Then, you taste it and you’re in heaven! The meat is beyond tender and juicy, melting on your tongue in a way that may convince you that there is some magic hiding in the Copacabana kitchen… I know I certainly believe so!
For dessert, you have a few options, three of which are homemade: fl an, tres leches cake, and rice pudding. Abby and I decided on the fl an de caramelo ($3.99), a delicate, seductive option that looked entirely too good to eat. But, eat it we did, much to our pleasure! The custard is creamy and supple, soaking in a yummy caramel sauce that is accented by a hint of bitterness, which prevents the dessert from being overly sweet. It’s a great option if you want just a little bit of sugar to complete your meal! Copacabana Cuban Cuisine brings the taste, touch, and feel of Havana right into your backyard. Go experience the fun and the fl avor! Plus, Barry Manilow famously sings that you’ll fall in love at the Copacabana, and he’s completely right: you will absolutely fall in love at Copacabana Cuban Cuisine, maybe not with the stranger at the bar, but certainly with the food!
Copacabana Cuban Cuisine is located at 1209 Main Street, Suite 101, in Jupiter. It is open Monday through Thursday from 11AM-10PM • Friday & Saturday from 11AM-Midnight • Sunday 11AM-10PM. For more information, call 561-360-3378 or visit www.copacabanacubancuisine.com.
