*College students will be offered short term membership during normal college breaks. Students must have at least 12 credits and present a valid student ID or schedule. Guests are NOT permitted on short term memberships.

Summer: All Summer Memberships run from Memorial Day to Labor Day (May 31- Sept 6th). All memberships will expire as of Labor Day regardless of sign-ups. This membership does not qualify for use with summer camp, or guest policy. Renewal of this membership to full membership requires a payment of the initiation fee.

• All registration is on a first-come, first-serve basis. • Individuals must use our online system to register. • We encourage people to familiarize themselves with the online registration offerings and process prior to registration day. • If you are a first-time registrant, you must first set up your account in order to get a User ID and password.

Class Refund/Credit Policy: • Requests for a credit of your class fee must be submitted in writing on a Credit Request Form (available at the Welcome Centers) prior to the start of the third week of the program session. • Please note that after Week 2 of the class session, credits will be issued for medical reasons only (requests must be accompanied by a Doctor’s note). • Credits will be pro-rated based on the number of classes attended. A $5.00 processing fee will be charged if you change or drop a class, unless the change is due at the request or need of the YMCA. • For details on this policy and how to access your online credit, please go to our website. • Credits or refunds are not given for closings due to weather or emergency situations.

Sick Policy: For the health of other children and instructors, please do not bring your child to class if they are sick. We maintain the right to send your child home if the child has symptoms of a contagious illness.

In case of inclement weather, individuals are encouraged to call the YMCA at (908)766-7898 ext. 500 for information regarding program cancellations, delayed openings of the facility or closures. You may also receive updates by visiting our website at During our winter season we will make every effort to remain open. However, we do want to make sure that all our members and staff remain safe during any inclement weather situation and reserve the right to delay our opening or close the facility when deemed necessary. If we choose to delay the opening or close the facility, we will make that decision by 4:00 a.m. Monday-Friday, and by 5:00 a.m. on the weekends.

Family Night Will Resume In Fall Session Have an international experience without leaving home! The Somerset Hills YMCA has opportunities available for host families for two international YMCA staff members for the summer camp season. This initiative is an important part of the YMCA’s partnership with the YMCA of Skopje, Macedonia. Host families will provide housing and all other family functions. All counselors are outstanding leaders at our partner YMCA, chosen through a highly selective process. All counselors are over the age of 18. We seek 5 and 10-week housing commitments. Vacations can be accommodated.

Birthday Parties

Enjoy the use of our facilities for a swim party, rock-wall climbing, or gymnastics party. Each party includes 45 minutes of activity time and 45 min. in a private party room. An enthusiastic party host will handle the set-up and clean up of your party and ensure that you have everything you need for a great birthday celebration. Let the YMCA do the work. Kidz Karetakers lets you take a class or work out while your children have fun. Sign your children in at Kidz Korner and the staff will bring your child to class or camp. Monday - Friday from 9:00am-6pm, Saturdays 9:00am-12:00pm (no camp) Free with your Kidz Korner punch card.

Drop and Go


Place your child(ren) in a fun and safe environment while you holiday shop, take older children to dentist or doctor appointments or just need some time to yourself. Creative Development Ages 3-5yrs

This 8 week, 1.5 hour summer class will help your child retain skills learned during the school year as well as teach new participants beginner level gymnastics skills. Children are strongly encouraged to complete beginner tumbling before advancing to this class. This 1.5 hour co-ed class includes basic gymnastics instruction on vault, uneven bars, and balance beam, Tumble Trak and floor exercise, as well as safety skills. Tue

This 8 week, 1.5 summer class will help your child retain skills learned during the school year as well as teach new participants intermediate/advanced level gymnastics skills. Introduction to advanced level skills using high beams, bar, vault, and floor. Students MUST be able to Vault: handstand; Uneven bars: pullover, working towards back hip circles and glide swing. Balance beam: mount and dismount, working towards cartwheels and handstands. Floor: backbend kick overs. Handstand to bridge leaps & jumps working towards back and front walkovers. Wed

Balance Beam: mount, scale, leaps and jumps working towards forward & backward rolls. Floor: cartwheel, handstand, forward & backward rolls working towards backbends and kick overs. Inspired by the YMCA’s mission of serving all individuals regardless of their ability to pay, the Somerset Hills YMCA offers all children ages 3-10 in our community Y-SPLASH! A week-long program of swimming designed to help non-swimmers and beginner swimmers stay safe in and around the water, this program will run Monday—Friday, June 21st-25th at 4:00, 4:30, 5:00, and 5:30 pm. This mission-driven program costs just $20 per child and is open to every child ages 3-10 in the community, members and potential members alike. Online registration begins Thursday, June 3rd at 10am. Cross Country Running Camp – Boys & Girls Entering Grades 6-8

Kids will run 2-4 miles each day. Running Technique, Cadence, Basic Drills, Stretching, Hill Running, Speed Training, strategy will all be addressed. This is a fun, educational, and supportive introduction to running camp. Athletes should have some exposure to running before attending. Kids will additionally have the opportunity to compete in a 5k race where racing/ pacing tactics will be practiced. Directed by Cathy Grote, elite distance runner whose accomplishments include many youth, HS, college, and post collegiate titles. Equipment Orientations

Equipment orientations are for all YMCA members and are FREE. An equipment orientation gives members the opportunity to become more knowledgeable and comfortable with the fitness equipment in both the machine and free weight areas. A Floor Supervisor will show you the proper techniques on using certain strength training machines and cardiovascular equipment. Each orientation will take approximately one hour to complete. Outdoor Adventure

The Cardiac Care Wellness Program

This is a Phase 4 Cardiac Rehabilitation Program and Risk Factor Reduction Program. It is designed for individuals with heart disease and/or individuals with risk factors that could lead to heart disease. The program includes 2 Bike Rides tend to run April to November & Fitness Hikes run Dec. free 1/2 hour personal training sessions, blood pressure and heart rate to Mar. If the weather is wet or icy we will hike instead of bike. Grab your bike monitoring, use of exercise equipment, monthly classes on risk factor and join us for scenic bike rides past meadows and farms, occasionally even reduction and other health topics and written material on the latest medical “rail trails” or canal paths. We live in an amazing place for scenic information or findings. Communication is maintained between client’s cycling on the back roads of NJ & PA. Bike rides offered will range from medical care professional and Cardio Care staff to ensure the program road bike rides to mountain bike “off-road” rides. A strength/fitness program for cancer patients and survivors based on the curriculum developed by Stanford University. LIVESTRONG™ at the YMCA is a twelve week small group program designed for adult cancer survivors who have become de-conditioned or chronically fatigued from their treatment and/or disease. The program is offered with no cost to the participants. Our goal is to help patients build muscle mass and muscle strength, increase flexibility and endurance, and improve functional ability. Additional goals include reducing the severity of therapy side effects, preventing unwanted weight changes, and improving energy levels and self esteem. A final goal of the program is to assist participants in developing their own physical fitness program so they can continue to practice a healthy lifestyle, not only as part of their recovery, but as a way of life. Research is now showing that physical activity can decrease recurrence and increase survivorship for cancer patients. Certified YMCA fitness instructors give personal individualized instruction to the participants. Please review the aquatic curriculum below to determine which swimming level is appropriate for your child prior to registering for a class. Then, refer to page 16 and review the class schedule to decide which day and time best suits your family’s needs. If your child has not been in one of the two most recent sessions of swim class, or you’re uncertain of your child’s swimming ability, please call the Aquatics Department on extension 1503. If we find that your child has been registered in the wrong level, we reserve the right to either change your child to the appropriate level if possible, or we will refund your registration fee. Due to limited pool space, there will be no make-up classes. At the end of each session, parents will receive information regarding their child’s progress. If you or your child is wait-listed, we will make every attempt to enroll you/them in a class following the first full week of the session. A member of the Northern New Jersey YMCA Swim League, the Somerset Hills YMCA Swim Team competes year round in both YMCA and USA sanctioned swimming events. With 250 swimmers between the ages of 7 and 18, each swimmer is placed in one of our progressive practice groups based upon age and coach’s evaluation. The primary season runs from September thru March providing each swimmer with the opportunity to compete on a dual meet team and participate in Championship meets. Swim Team Tryouts: Saturday, July 24th

Tryouts are required for all new swimmers and previous team members that did not participate in our spring or summer program. Evaluation will be based upon practice readiness skills, stroke technique, speed and endurance. Time trials will be held in each of the four strokes: freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke and butterfly. Swimmers must be seven years old as of December 1, 2010. Pre-registration and a $25.00 non-refundable fee are required to attend tryouts. Dance Teams • We have four great dance teams here at the YMCA this year. Each team will have the opportunity to perform at several different venues as well as go to competitions throughout the year. Some venues that the dance team performed at in the recent past were the Philadelphia 76ers pregame show, the Somerset Patriots pregame show and several other YMCA events. Competition and costume fees are not included in the price of dance team, but fundraising is a great option that we would love to do! Pre-Register for these Fall classes

Due to the cumulative nature of our dance classes, in which the students practice and train towards our end-of-the-year recital, our classes will meet over the course of the entire school year (Sept.-June). Beginning with our Summer Program registration, participants will sign up for the dance class or classes of their choice and registration will be complete for the year. Payment may be made in full for the school year or with the E-Pay Option.

Fees do not include costumes for Recital.

Kidz Bop (Pre Hip Hop) Ages 6-8yrs

Kidz Bop is for children that cannot wait to take Hip Hop! This class will focus on keeping rhythm, using your creativity and having fun! Wed 4:00-5:00pm MA $490/$980

Pre Pointe Ages 10+yrs

This class will prepare dancers for pointe shoes. It will teach them what pointe shoes will be like and how to prepare for them. Dancers must have completed at least 3 years of ballet training. Tue 6:30-7:30pm MA $490/$980

All Boys Hip Hop Ages 6-8yrs

Does your son want to take dance class but not with all of the girls? This hip hop class will give them the opportunity to learn how to dance with only boys!! Fri 4:00-5:00pm MA $490/$980

Class focuses on maximizing technique, increasing dance vocabulary and the fundamentals of building a strong dancer. Thu 4:00-5:00pm MA $490/$980 Prerequisite: must have taken at least one year of ballet. Ballet technique and vocabulary learned will be refined and reinforced. Mon 4:00-5:00pm MA $490/$980

Ballet III Ages 9 +yrs

Jazz/Lrical Ages 7+yrs

This class will combine the fast movement of jazz with the slow movement of lyrical. Both dance forms will be taught during this great hour and a half class. Wed




Beginner Hip Hop Ages 7-9yrs

Movement and technique in the fun hip hop style that this age group loves to do. Class is open for first, second and third year hip hop dancers. Wed




Hip Hop II Ages 9-11yrs

Prerequisite: must have at least two years of hip hop. This class adds hip hop technique and style to what the students have learned in previous years. Wed 7:30-8:30pm MA $490/$980

Pre Teen Hip Hop Ages 11-13yrs

An exciting, popular dance form taught to today’s pop-culture music. All music will be monitored for acceptable lyric content. Sat




Tap I Ages 7+yrs

This class is for dancers who have learned techniques of the beginner basics of tap. Students will continue to master their skills of tap steps and combinations. Fri 5:00-6:00pm MA $490/$980

Advanced Tap Ages 11+yrs

Prerequisite: must have at least two years of tap training. Combinations will be more difficult and challenging. Tue

All family members will drop down to be selected. Click on the box next to the participant’s name and click “Check Out” Click on + by the participants name. Box will drop down. See “make deposit” in blue on the lower-left-hand side. Click on it. Type in minimum deposit amount (shown in box) and click “save”. Click on box where it says “I accept and approve the liability waiver” and click submit. Enter credit card information and click submit. The amount should be the deposit amount only.
