Page 11: This is a competition for your child to participate in and the best plane will win $50. Once they are done, send us a picture to submit@myDeen.club.
Page 12-13: This is our monthly Salah Journal. We kindly ask you to make sure that your child fills this out every month so that they can track their prayers. Offer incentives and reward them accordingly. Asalaamu Alaikum Dear Parents, Welcome to another edition of myDeen Magazines. This month’s theme will revolve around Islamic History. October has been given the title “Islamic History Month” in Canada and we wanted to use this opportunity to educate our young ones about some of the greatest Muslims and their contributions to society. This was one of the hardest editions for us to write because 24 pages isn’t enough to do justice explaining our Islamic History. We focused on Muslims who had amazing discoveries and that have contributed to the betterment of our society. We stayed away from scholars/Imams as they require a whole edition to themselves. We also included a few pages talking about our Islamic New Year!
Key Points for Parents:
Page 14-17: Islamic New Year! We are about to enter the year 1439 in our Islamic Calendar. Use these pages to educate your child about the Lunar Calendar.
Page 20-21: A competition for your child to participate in and the best coloured hand will win $50. Once they are done, send us a picture to submit@myDeen.club.
Note: If you feel that your child is too old for this edition, please let us know. We will start mailing them the ages 8-11 edition of our magazines. Our next edition for November will be mailed out by October 24th, 2017 and It will discuss various kinds of friends we can have as well as some important hadiths regarding good friends. For any further questions, do not hesitate to email us at: Info@myDeen.club.
Here are some pointers on how to properly engage with your child this edition.

IT’S A NEW YEAR! Did you know that Muslims have their own new year? Muslims have their own calendar and it is called the ISLAMIC/ HIJRI CALENDER. It is almost the same as the calendar we follow in school but there are some few things that are different. The Islamic calendar follows the moon, so it is a LUNAR calendar. After 29-30 days, just like in Ramadan, there is always a new moon. Muslims start a new month every time they see the new moon. No one knows when the new moon will be (after 29 or 30 days), so the Islamic calendar is always changing. There are places in the world where people follow only the Islamic Calender.
Normal Calendar Follows the Sun 12 months in a year 30-31 days in a month (except for February) 365 days in a year
Islamic Calendar Follows the New Moon 12 months in a year 29-30 days in a month 354 days in a year
