From Norris Lake to the historic sites sprinkled throughout the county, the I75 corridor is a roadway to history and fun.

Just ask Amanda Bridges, who manages the Holiday Inn Express at the Clinton/ Norris I75 interchange.

“Our ‘peak’ season is March through November,” she said.

Bridges said that if she had to guess, the overall average, “at the end of the day” would be in the neighborhood of $103 a night.

The state collects 9.75-percent; Anderson County receives 5-percent, and Clinton gets 3-percent.

A portion of the county’s 5-percent is put into the Anderson County Tourism Board.

“And we have a pretty high occupancy rate,” she said.

“You never know. Winters are different from one winter to the next,” she said.

Weather conditions are, of course, a deciding factor. Bridges said that’s it’s not just the winter weather, it how it takes shape.

Long ago, I was a chamber ambassador and a member of the antique festival committee. Currently, I am on the board of directors and chair the business development committee. More recently, the chamber has helped propel Clinton and Anderson County into the eyes of the public outside the borders of our community - and people are taking notice! That will be a game changer for not only real estate, but retail, education....really every working part of our community will benefit from the vision that the chamber has helped promote.

The Anderson County Chamber of Commerce hosted their 8th Annual Tribute to Business Dinner on Friday, June 14, 2019 on Market Street, Clinton.

This event titled “The Market Place of Pearls� A Gatsby Themed Long Table Dinner, was a way of recognizing businesses in Anderson County and their accomplishments. The Long Table Dinner was the first of its kind in Anderson County. The Chamber honored the award recipients as well as the history of Market Street. As one of the biggest events of the summer it brought some glitz and glamour to our historic town.

Janet Hawkins Graduates from Institute for Organization Management WASHINGTON, D.C.— Institute for Organization Management, the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, is pleased to announce that Janet Hawkins, IOM, Executive Vice President of the Anderson County Chamber of Commerce, has graduated from the program and has received the recognition of IOM. Awarded to all graduates of the Institute program, the IOM Graduate Recognition signifies the individual’s completion of 96 hours of course instruction in nonprofit management. In addition, participants can earn credit hours toward the Certified Chamber Executive (CCE) or Certified Association Executive (CAE) certifications. Nearly 1,000 individuals attend Institute annually.

“Institute graduates are recognized across the country as leaders in their industries and

organizations,” said Raymond P. Towle, IOM, CAE, the U.S. Chamber Foundation’s vice president of Institute for Organization Management. “These individuals have the knowledge, skills, and dedication necessary to achieve professional and organizational success in the dynamic association and chamber industries.”

Since its commencement in 1921, the Institute program has been educating tens of thousands of association, chamber, and other nonprofit leaders on how to build stronger organizations, better serve their members and become strong business advocates. Institute’s curriculum consists of four weeklong sessions at five different university locations throughout the country.

Through a combination of required courses and electives in areas such as leadership, advocacy, marketing, finance, and membership, Institute participants are able to

enhance their own organizational management skills and add new fuel to their organizations, making them run more efficiently and effectively.

Institute for Organization Management is the professional development program of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation.

It is the premier nonprofit professional development program for association and chamber professionals, fostering individual growth through interactive learning and networking opportunities.

Teacher Supply Depot prepares for two August openings for teachers from ACS and CCS. The first one is on Saturday, August 3rd, and the second one will be Tuesday afternoon, August 13th.

We are working with Express Employment Professionals on their Brand It Blue Initiative with their manufacturing/warehouse and other clients across Anderson County between July 8 and July 29 to have school supply drives. Express will be honoring the top donating companies on August 3rd.

The two school districts and government offices have collection boxes at their offices to collect supplies from their staff members and the general public.
