Water – What does it mean to you? By Carolyn Greene, Resideo-Honeywell Home To some it represents fun like boating, swimming, or fishing. To others it recalls a time of peace and relaxation such as long walks on the beach, camping by a favorite mountain stream or falling asleep to steady waves of the ocean meeting the shore. To others, it can bring fear and sorrow – a house destroyed by a flood either through a natural disaster or mechanical failure of their water heater, frozen or broken pipe. Water – we really don’t give it much thought until it effects our lives. But to me, water is truly the magic elixir of life. Just take a moment to think about this liquid which sustains life here on planet earth. I find it fascinating that the water we drink today was the same water that was around when the dinosaurs were in control. Oh, I know it might have been in one of its different forms. Possibly frozen in the artic or maybe floating around in the air as humidity, but it was there alright and if the planet lasts another hundred million years, the water we have today will be the same water our great (to the 10th power) grandchildren will be drinking. Just for the record this is NOT an article about global warming or any political agenda. It’s totally my view on the subject. I’m sure you have guessed by now that I love water and everything connected to it. There are times when I believe if you cut me instead on blood, water would leak out. Which, by the way, is pretty much a true statement as human blood is slightly less than 80% water. In fact, the human body is 60% water. But I digress! By now I’m sure your wondering what’s the. I would like to introduce myself. I’m Carolyn Greene and I (wait for it) am the Water Sales Leaders – Eastern US of Resideo-Honeywell Home. I currently hold a GA Unrestricted Master Plumber License and boiler License. I love being in the Plumbing/Mechanical Trade. With all my heart and soul, I believe that we are the Protectors of the Public Health. I also believe in and support the PHCC, both on the National as well as the State level. The support we receive from our membership is truly amazing. Training, Education and representing us to both the public and elected officials is just the tip pf the iceberg of what they do. During my interview with Resideo- Honeywell Home I was asked what can I bring to the table and one of my first suggestions was to join PHCC on the National Level and GET INVOLVED! We did that and in fact, will be attending the Connect 2019 PHCC Show in Indy. On the local level I have been meeting with several executive directors to see how I can help their chapters. I consider myself, as well as all of you, Professionals that understand the importance of being the Protectors of the Public Health. I’m proud to be allowed to walk with you as you all are my Heroes! I look forward to meeting you at future meetings and events. Please feel free to contact me if there is anything I can do to help or support you. Thanks again for all the you do the make of industry on the best! Page 3

PHCC Water Supply Calculator App
The PHCC Water Supply Calculator App offers a single resource to determine water supply fixture units and minimum fixture branch sizes for common plumbing fixtures, typical pressure drops in water meters, equivalent lengths of fittings. The app also allows a user to input a fixture unit demand, resulting in suggested pipe size, determines GPM demand, pressure drop/100’, and velocity in Type “L” copper pipe; with selectors referenced to the National Standard Plumbing Code, the Uniform Plumbing Code, and the International Plumbing Code. In addition to the calculator, the app serves as an all-in-one membership engagement tool that allows members to directly access PHCC information and resources on their portable device.
