I started on my health quest almost 3 decades ago wanting to understand how to keep my family and myself healthy. Along the way, I discovered that I love to cook and that is where it all began. As a part of my own journey, I learned about the differences between unrefined salt and the processed salt we grew up with. The discovery that unrefined salt was not only healthy for us but crucial to our overall health changed my life. It was from a chance meeting in a small spice store in Savannah, GA, that my passion for salt was sparked. Now, unrefined salt is the most important ingredient in my kitchen. My company got its start in regional farmers markets under the brand s.a.l.t. which later become s.a.l.t. sisters, an acronym for my daughters: Sydney, Alexis, Lauren and Taylor. Now s.a.l.t. sisters has grown to be a lifestyle company for your kitchen, offering all-natural, gluten-free & non-GMO products with no preservatives. Our products are designed to add flavor to your recipes and make cooking easier. Today, I am as focused as ever on understanding my body and how to keep it healthy. 1 ½ lbs sweet potatoes, halved lengthwise ¹/³ cup millet 1 cup old fashioned oats 1 (15 oz) can black beans

½ small red onion, diced 4 tablespoons s.a.l.t. sisters All-Purpose BBQ Rub & Seasoning or Tex-Mex Rub & Seasoning 2 tablespoons Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Place the halved potatoes on a baking sheet; roast until tender, about 30-40 minutes. Let cool. Once potatoes are cooled, remove skins and roughly chop. In a small saucepan, bring 1 cup of water to a boil. Stir in the millet, reduce heat to low, cover and simmer until tender, about 25 minutes. Drain off remaining liquid and let cool. To a food processor or blender, add the oats and grind until a medium-fine consistency (not as fine as flour). In a large mixing bowl, combine the sweet potato, millet, black beans, onion and All-Purpose BBQ or Tex-Mex; mix well. Sprinkle ground oats on top and mix using hands. Mixture should hold together when shaped into a patty. For best results, cover and refrigerate mixture for 30 minutes (the patties hold together better when chilled). Form into ½ inch thick patties. In a large skillet, heat EVOO over medium heat. Fry the patties until browned, about 4 minutes on each side. Serve on buns.

Preheat grill for medium-high heat. In a saucepan over medium heat, stir together cane sugar, peach vinegar, and ground pepper. Simmer until sugar has melted and liquid has reduced by half. Remove from heat and set aside. Lightly oil the grill grate. Place peaches on the prepared grill, cut side down. Cook until peaches are caramelized, about 5 minutes. Turn peaches over; brush the top and sides with balsamic glaze and cook for another 2-3 minutes. Serve peaches with crumbled blue cheese and another drizzle of balsamic glaze.

In a medium frying pan, over medium heat, toast pine nuts until golden brown. Let cool. Using a vegetable peeler, thinly shave the asparagus lengthwise in to strips; place in a large bowl. To the lemon mixture, whisk in the oil. Add the vinaigrette and pine nuts to the asparagus and toss. Let sit for 10-15 minutes to enhance flavor. Serve at room temperature.

Salsa di Parma Roasted Vegetable Pasta

Serves 4 Whole wheat pasta topped with roasted vegetables. The depth of flavor that comes from roasting the vegetables first makes this dish worthy to serve to company. 3/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil 3 tbsp s.a.l.t. sisters Salsa di Parma Bread Dip 2 zucchini, cut in large pieces

1 onion, cut in large pieces 15-20 mini portabella mushrooms, halved 1 red pepper, cut in large pieces 10 cherry tomatoes, halved

1/4 cup pine nuts 1/2 box whole wheat pasta Parmesan cheese

Mix the olive oil and Salsa di Parma in a small bowl and let infuse for 30-60 minutes. Preheat oven to 425 degrees and line a baking sheet with foil. Put all of the vegetables in a large bowl, pour 3/4 of the olive oil mixture over the vegeta bles and mix until the vegetables are coated. Pour onto the foil lined baking sheet and place in the preheated oven. Roast the vegetables for 15-20 minutes until the vegetables are soft. While the vegetables are roasting cook the pasta according to the packag e directions. Once pasta is cooking, put the pine nuts in a non-stick pan and toast over medium heat until lightly toasted, set aside. When the pasta is done, drain and place in the bowl used to mix the vegeta bles with the oil. Pour the remaining oil mixture over the top of the pasta and mix well. When the vegetables are soft and fragran t remove from the oven and add to the pasta. Mix it all together and top with the toasted pine nuts and Parmesan cheese.

–Appetizer– Zucchini-Mozzarella Cakes Serves 4

4 cups zucchini, grated 2 eggs, slightly beaten 1 small onion, finely chopped ½ cup all-purpose flour 2-3 teaspoons garlic, minced ¹/³- ½ cup parmesan cheese, grated

1 cup mozzarella cheese, shredded 1 teaspoon s.a.l.t. sisters Tuscan Farmhouse Blend with Sea Salt or s.a.l.t. sisters Mediterranean Rub & Seasoning 4 tablespoons coconut oil, for frying

Place grated zucchini in a colander and squeeze out as much liquid as possible. Pat the zucchini with paper towel to soak up the rest of the moisture, then place in a large bowl. To bowl, add the rest of the ingredients, except the oil, and mix until combined. In a large skillet, heat the oil over medium-high heat. Using a heaping tablespoon, drop the zucchini mixture into the oil and fry until both sides are golden brown. Serve warm.

1 tablespoon Extra Virgin Olive Oil 2/ cup carrot, sliced ³ ½ cup onion, diced 2 cloves garlic, minced 1 tablespoon s.a.l.t. sisters Tuscan Farmhouse Blend with Sea Salt

1 ½ cups cabbage, diced ½ cup green beans, halved ½ cup zucchini, diced 1 tablespoon tomato paste 3 cups reduced sodium vegetable, chicken or beef broth

In a medium pot, heat Santiago or Garlic EVOO and add carrot, onion, garlic, and Tuscan; sauté until softened, about 5-7 minutes. To the pot, stir in the cabbage, green beans, zucchini and tomato paste. Saute for another 2-3 minutes. Slowly pour in the broth, cover and simmer for 15 minutes or until green beans are tender Serve hot.

–Side– Sautéed Green Beans Serves 4

¼ cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil 4-6 handfuls of fresh green beans, trimmed stem side only

½ cup sliced almonds 1-2 teaspoons s.a.l.t. sisters Black Truffle Sea Salt

Add EVOO to a large sauté pan that is over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot, add the green beans and sauté just until beans are hot and slightly limp, about 15-20 minutes. Reduce the heat and add the almonds. Sauté about 3-4 minutes or until the almonds are slightly golden, stirring constantly. Turn off the heat and add the Black Truffle sea salt. Serve hot or at room temperature.

–Main Dish– Chicken with Peaches and Basil Serves 4

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour 2 teaspoons s.a.l.t. sisters Steakhouse Seasoning, divided 4 boneless skinless chicken breasts, halved 2 tablespoons Olive Oil 1 small onion, chopped

1 garlic clove, minced ¾ cup chicken stock, reduced sodium 1 tablespoon White Balsamic Vinegar 1 tablespoon lemon juice 2 peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced ¼ cup fresh basil, chopped

In a shallow dish, combine flour and 1 teaspoon Steakhouse Seasoning; reserve 2 teaspoons flour mixture and set aside. Coat chicken in flour mixture; shake off excess. In large skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Cook chicken, turning once, until no longer pink inside, about 15-20 minutes. Transfer to plate and cover with foil. To the skillet add onion, garlic, and reserved flour mixture; cook for 3 minutes stirring constantly. Add chicken stock, White Balsamic, and lemon juice; bring to a boil and scrape up brown bits from bottom of the pan. Reduce the heat, add the peaches and cook 3-5 minutes. Stir in basil and the remaining 1 teaspoon Steakhouse Seasoning. Pour over chicken and serve.

1 rotisserie chicken, skin removed and chopped 1 stalk celery, chopped ½ small onion, chopped 1 teaspoon s.a.l.t. sisters Porcini Poultry Rub & Seasoning

1 teaspoon fresh thyme or ½ teaspoon dried thyme ½ to ¾ cup mayonnaise ¼ teaspoon any s.a.l.t. sisters unrefined sea salt

To a medium bowl, add the chicken and remaining ingredients; mix well. Serve with bread or over a bed of lettuce or greens.

1 cup chocolate graham cracker crumbs 3 tablespoons butter, melted 3 (8 oz) packages cream cheese, softened ¾ cup s.a.l.t. sisters Organic Cane Tea Sugar 1 teaspoon Raspberry extract

3 eggs ¼ cup Dutch processed cocoa powder 3 tablespoons hot water 1 cup whipping cream 1 tablespoon raspberry jam 1 tablespoon powdered sugar Fresh raspberries for garnishing

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees. In a small bowl, mix graham cracker crumbs and melted butter. Press into the bottom of 18 paper lined muffin cups. Using an electric mixer, beat together cream cheese, sugars and extract until creamy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing at low speed in between. Spoon 1 ½ tablespoons of cream cheese mixture over the graham cracker crusts. There will be about half the batter remaining. In a small bowl, mix cocoa powder with 3 tablespoons of hot water. Add the chocolate mixture to the remaining batter and mix in. Divide the batter between the 18 muffin cups being careful not to disturb the layer below. Bake 25 to 30 minutes. Remove and let cool; refrigerate for at least 2 hours or overnight. Right before serving, add whipping cream to a bowl. Using a handheld mixer beat the cream until it starts to solidify and forms soft peaks. Fold in the raspberry jam and powdered sugar. Top each cheesecake with a dollop of cream and fresh raspberries.

Shining a Light Organization Distributing money to those in need can provide help for the short term, but it does not provide a sustainable solution for meeting a lifetime of needs. Located in Arusha, Tanzania, Shining A Light’s “Women to Work” program offers women the opportunity to learn a trade, while providing education on health care and disease prevention, money management, business and literacy. These classes assist women in gaining economic independence, which helps them in caring for their families. Engaging women with opportunities that allow them to earn and learn with guidance, breaks the cycle of poverty and paves the way for a lifetime of success—empowerment that changes a life, a family and a community. At s.a.l.t. sisters, we believe in helping others. As a company, we provide opportunities for moms, students and young women with on the job training and development of business skills. By partnering with Shining A Light, we have an opportunity to impact a greater group of women. Charmane Skillen, the Founder of s.a.l.t. sisters, has always believed in empowering women to succeed. As the mother of four daughters, it is just natural that her heart has led her to champion the widows and single mothers in Arusha, Tanzania. Every time you buy products from s.a.l.t. sisters, it allows us to support the efforts of Shining A Light. This organization comes along side women and offers them a chance to break the cycle by teaching

them the skill of beading and sewing. Often these mothers have had very little schooling themselves and face a day-to-day struggle of how to send their children to school, or even how to feed them. Shining A Light changes this by providing job skill training for these women who have had few opportunities to provide for their families. With these skills they make gorgeous hand beaded sandals that are sold to support the women and the organization. Some of the women in the program have also begun to design other products like jewelry and leather belts. It is hard to believe that for only $14 per day, Shining A Light can empower one woman, who in turn impacts 5-10 other people directly, even before she graduates from the program. Yet, it doesn’t stop there. By simply supporting one woman we can change the lives of an entire family and subsequently inspire a whole community of women who had lost hope.

After a two-year program that trains women to bead, sew and work with leather, they can find jobs to sustain their families.

They are selling them to other organizations in Arusha to raise money for their own programs and offering them to the women to sell them at a much reduced cost to other homes in their community, offering an opportunity for the women to make money and other homes to receive clean water.

Delivery Time

Product is to be ordered from s.a.l.t. sisters at least 7 to 14 business days before needing it. In fairness to all s.a.l.t. sisters customers, orders are filled based on the order date and shipped in the order they are received. Declined credit cards or changed orders are repositioned.

Damage Claims

Any damage claims must be reported to the carrier (FedEx, USPS, etc) immediately. Save the packaging and damaged goods for possible inspection. Contact s.a.l.t. sisters offices after you have notified the carrier and send pictures of damages to customerservice@ saltsistersonline.com. Any damages must be filed with the office within three (3) business days from receipt of shipment.

Miscellaneous

Stores are not to open a bank account, credit card, website, email address or any business advertising using s.a.l.t. sisters’ name.

Payment Methods

Shipment will be made after receipt of acceptable legal tender is received. Acceptable tender includes Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, and Electronic Funds Transfer. All information (name on card, credit card number, expiration date, billing address, and security code) must be given when order is placed to avoid delays in order processing. Declined credit card orders are repositioned.

Once three (3) orders have been placed and paid for via credit card, s.a.l.t. sisters will consider extending credit of NET 15, pending the return of the completed Credit Application and Credit Terms Agreement. If any two (2) payments, not necessarily consecutively, are received late, the customer will be placed on a “Due Upon Receipt” basis and will be expected to pay via credit card at time of shipment. s.a.l.t. sisters may decide to return the customer to NET 15 terms upon paying 3 more orders with a credit card, with a customer review.

A $40.00 service charge will apply to all returned checks, each occurrence. Accounts will be responsible for all necessary fees and charges (legal, collection, etc.) incurred in the collection on any monies due s.a.l.t. sisters.

Shipping and Handling

An automatic $10 per carton fee will be added to the account if an incorrect/incomplete address is given resulting in additional fees being charged to s.a.l.t. sisters by the shipping company.

Product liability remains with the manufacturer. Product sampling is encouraged in order to sell the product. The retailer is to ensure those applicable governing agency rules, laws, and ordinances, etc., are to be adhered to.
