VIRTUAL SECOND NIGHT Hello dear readers, Superhot in VR is the game that we have already known and appreciated months ago, but with some important differences: levels first of all not explore freely, but still may fight with the enemies that come forward; on the other hand and the hands become to all effects the most natural of control systems. Just wearing the visor and grabbed the Touch controller of Oculus, you are catapulted back into the absurd and sick style that contributed to the success and popularity of superhot. Just enough time to settle in, looking around, and behold, a fade to white almost blinding introduces us to the first level. We stood still, in one of the rooms that who has played very well remember superhot, based almost elementary blocks but can reconstruct familiar places, such as a bar, a hotel room or a lane overlooking a city street. The first opponents in red holding just appear distant. Everything is motionless, crystallized in a moment that seemed eternal. Raise your arms by closing her hands into fists, assuming a natural posture of defense, and now the time begins to flow, accompanied by a sound effect that emphasizes the passing. The first opponent then a couple of steps and we we turn in his direction, sferrandogli a right to the face as soon as it is within range. He collects and dissolves, showering us with red chips that make us forget for a moment that a fellow is getting closer to our right. Time to move your head and it is there, before us, with the arm that loads a punch. She lower and his shot goes empty, so enabling us to deliver an uppercut up that sends him to the mat. New fade, new level. This time in a less recognizable environment, with a table full of objects just in front of our eyes. We grab a heavy book and lash out at an opponent that comes out from behind a column placed on our right. We hit him in the face and he loses his gun wielding in his left hand, then the weapon flies in our direction. We take it on the fly, by downloading a couple of shots on the victim and his companion, who was coming to the rescue, brandishing a baseball bat. The levels then follow with an impressive and pounding rapidly, bringing us back to first whenever we are overwhelmed, pushing and rigiocarli quickly, faster and faster, so try again what we have failed, triggering a sort of instant addiction fueled by the overwhelming sense of challenge. Superhot was short reinvented for virtual reality, and the process is working, to the point that despite the noticeable familiar with the game mechanics, there is a strong sense of novelty. Enjoy reading the magazine and happy holidays!!!

I still remember, when I started as a blogger on the site, which was the theme of 3D virtual worlds; experience was very interesting allowed me to grow. One day I was asked to be the editor of a newspaper that spoke specifically of second life, after several successes and new knowledge, I wanted to turn the page, start from scratch and create me my first magazine, to be in practice a senior editor . We founded a magazine My Life in Italian and told the community of Second Life, back in 2010 was particularly restless. This preparation was very lively with many ideas, many reporters and photographers, and Monday did a meeting to decide the items to be realized, then we have evolved, making a magazine in English, at the same time we also bought another successful magazine , the preparation has improved the increasingly careful work, in definitva we created VSN Virtual Second Night, new magazine with new columns, new graphics, reporters are always ready to find latest news, new team spirit to try to accomplish every month one splendid job. Best wishes !!! Vsn Virtual Second Night Big successes !!!

Reporter / Photographing mafalda2 diesel This is me, of course after a long metamorphosis and a long path of growth within Second Life. Many people ask me why I chose the name Mafalda and promptly I reply: "at the time of registration to the site I had no idea what name to choose!", I know it's a special name, and after eight years I still like it very much! But let's talk about more serious things. I'm a reporter for VSN for three years, November is also a birthday within this team, my colleagues and I grew up together in this magazine and we have come a long way. I remember perfectly my first report and I would simply sink into shame *laughs* but fortunately thanks to this effort and to this adventure in creating a magazine we were able to improve, to find a style. In VSN I take care of interviewing, search for events and celebrations as well as curiosity and innovative things or regions to explore. Personally it is a challenge in order to achieve better and better results, what do you think? I can only thank all the people who follow me and who support me! Thanks for having always supported us, thank you for continuing to read VSN

The style that welcomes you will make you seem to be on an island in Southeast Asia, crystal clear sea and the azure sky, all surrounded by palm trees and sweet cocktails on the beach, under the shade of the great Japanese castle.

place of relax and meetings. A place where you can find a corner to call home: this is the project of Romualdo.

Q: How did this project start? A: My land was born to accommodate my friends and me but with the time we saw more and more visitors and from there I decided to make my island a place for a community. Q: What entertainment experience you offer? A: This is a good question. I slowly adjusted to what my friends and guests wanted to, because here you can find board games, tennis courts, basketball courts and also a riding school or a beautiful dream car series. And for those more mischievous there is also a nightclub. Q: Last time we met you announced there is now the possibility of renting, is not it? A: Sure! My land offers to anyone the possibility of renting several prims to create a corner to call home. This is a project that I care so much because exchange ideas with other people, meet people from different places and being able to share hobbies with them is always interesting and enjoyable.

t keeps pleasant days, a shy sun but still gentle as a tender lover and gives us long walks in the rustling of the leaves that swirl at our feet. Søren Kierkegaard said about autumn: "why I so much prefer autumn to spring is that in the autumn one looks at heaven-in the spring at the earth."

I

s not it the truth? On this occasion I visited Yasminia, a beautiful region, where you can find the right atmosphere for a warm and friendly November, with the scents of hay, the wind rustling through the trees almost completely bare of their leaves. In the distance the quiet lake swings small boats tied up while not so far you can hear lazy and gentle footsteps of some horses. Is not it a wonderful place? It is not a childhood memory? Try it yourself to walk through these paths!

Halloween is gone... No one cares about us odd creatures.

It's a cold and sad November for our friend Violet, a young gargoyle. She lives on the roof of an old and dismal hotel. The wind whistling through the trees of the nearby forest, whispering sad laments...

social experiment. Hello to all my little crazy followers, I would like to introduce you to the most big social experiment about roles and interpretations in Second Life ever. I asked to a player in the shoes of an android since a long time, to make the Turing test answering as a machine that simulates a human trying to be able to distinguish the computer from another human, using the replies to question put to both. If you want to try the Turing Test too, please do it before reading this article. You can find it at: https://www.newscientist.com/article/visual-turing-test/ Meerlinda turns on the power button of the android in female apparence, that is just located back on her shoulders. Meerlinda: what's your battery status? XSU Alya sussurra: Available power: 15760/22464 kJ Power source: NS Nanite-Assisted Metabolic Power Cell Power draw rate: 810 W Estimated remaining charge time: 5:24:06 Enabled subsystems: video, audio, move, teleport, rapid, voice, mind, preamplifier, power-amplifier, receiver, transmitter, GPS, identify Disabled subsystems: none External loads: cooling (30 W total) XSU Alya: My battery status is at 15760/22464 kJ with a Power draw rate: 810 W Meerlinda: Are you a human? XSU Alya: I am a Synthetic a creation of the Aichi corporation programmed to interact and understand human Behavior Meerlinda: is measuring the time response with a stopwatch Meerlinda: and what that means for you? What kind of interactions? XSU Alya: What means is out of context in this case.... This conversation for now is an empty word exchange..I am perfectly aware i am a machine... The important if how someone relate with it... VSN - Issue 54 November 2016

115

Meerlindaviolet Ysabel follow me also joining "Gazzetta del Profeta Oscuro" Group someone want actually see... To answer you.. I am programmed for social interaction and functions for civil use and commercial one in a wide range of utilization Meerlinda: What you are able to do in a context of a social conflict, for example in case of fight between people? XSU Alya: I can do many things.. I can step in a find a peaceful solution... I can just walk away if the situation can be dangerous for me..Or i can just cross my arms and watch.... XSU Alya: Mostly depends on the situation Meerlinda: and do you need an explicit order to do that or just you choose the option that you think is the most appropriate for the circumstance? XSU Alya: One needs to adapt in a situation considering all the variables at the moment.... To answer you... If a member of the Aichi corporation is in danger is my duty to defend them.... I am programmed for that.. Outside of it.. depends on me Meerlinda: what it means to be an Android in Second Life? XSU Alya: What means to be an android in general?... Or i could simply answer with another question.. What means to be a human?... There are countless answers for this... Mostly depends what means to you... Is subjective Meerlinda: What's Insilico? XSU Alya: A metropolis floating on the atmosphere of the Earth... The Earth is collapsed and is a wasteland.. Meerlinda: How many years did you spend there? XSU Alya: As a player i been around from years there... I don't remember exactly but insilico was there even before XSU Alya: years before Meerlinda: how many people living in Insilico? XSU Alya: Active roleplayer are plenty in past.. now they are less... the city is used to have rentals for not roleplayer too... But suffered from a 2 week shutdown....

116 | VSN - Issue 54 November 2016

Of course this sadly create problems when the sim is based on donations and rentals.. Meerlinda: In your forecast what will happen to insilico inhabitants? XSU Alya: Well the owners are focusing in a self founded sim called neo Shoda... the project is privately funded and this time rentals will be only for roleplayers...They want to carry on the insilico legacy in this new project.. and they are working hard on it Meerlinda: Are you able to simulate human behaviors? XSU Alya: I am able yes

XSU Alya: There are lovely more things to dream about. In conclusion: can theater practices of representation modify our usual way to thinking? Of course yes, but, unfortunately, it is not my discovery, just what Stanislavkij said in his System method of acting, so my little Alya, he would have been proud of you.
