APPLICATIONS OF ELECTROSTIMULATORS

Page 1

WHERE TO APPLY THE ELECTRODES TO CALM PAINS GENERALITIES The TENS electrostimulators are based on its predecessors, Chinese and portable stimulators for applying ELECTROPUNTURE, they have the capacity to act as electronic sedatives of the pain, without producing any type of secondary effects. This makes them ideal to combat and to eliminate the pain like as any conventional analgesic, but the same as the analgesic ones lack definitive properties of cure, reason why they should be used like complement to the therapy or treatment recommended by doctor. To take out the maximum profit, it is convenient to locate the electrodes in the way adapted in function of the pain type. Next, they are included a series of graphics of placement of electrodes, for the most habitual pains. The electrostimulators, EMS type, are used primarily for muscular electrostimulation, provided there are no pathological or there that are very moderate. CONTRAINDICATIONS Any apparatus, generator of electric waves, it should NOT BE USED in: • Pregnant women. • People with pacemakers. • Areas with wounded, varixes, dermatitis, etc. In the same way the electrodes should not be applied in the front or lateral area of the neck in order to avoid an abrupt descent of the tension. Nevertheless, in the event of doubt, it is always convenient to consult the authorized opinion of your doctor. APPLICATIONS Since the use field is very wide, we cannot seek to mark each concrete point of placement of the electrodes, but to informative title, we will indicate that the place IS NOT CRITICAL, and will be the patient the one that locates the affected area better. Also, in the illustrations that accompany, we fix by way of orientation a series of points that they embrace, in a practical way a great part of the applications in the following cases. • ARTHROSIS. MIGRAINES. TORTICOLLlS. LUMBAGO. CERVICAL. SPRAINS • BONY FRACTURES. HERNIATED DISCS. SCIATICA. NEURALGIAS, ETC. To achieve a better interpretation of the graphics, two different representations have been used for the electrodes, (badges), but since real difference doesn't exist among them, anyone of the exits can be used. In the cases where one of the electrodes is represented more than once, it means that it can be placed in anyone of those points. For apparatuses that have more than two electrodes, they can only be used two or to locate them all, for pairs, in the suitable positions.

NERVOUS MIGRAINES ← Figure 1 The pace of modern life is the main cause of them; tend to cause a certain rigidity of the muscles of the neck or upper back. Depending on the affected part, right, left or trapezius (muscles located in the dorsal anterior neck and back), put the plates in the positions indicated. TORTICOLLlS ← Figure 3 Neck pain that forces you to have this twisted, and in many cases impossible to move the head. A plate is placed behind the right ear or left, depending on the affected part, and the other at the junction of the clavicle and the neck tendon.

SUPRA-ORBITAL MIGRAINES Figure 2 → The pain irradiates to the front, above the eyes. Depending on the right or left the affected place the plates according to figure (left position that is to say, a plate slightly to the side of the spine, and the other at the front..

EPICONDYLITIS Figure 4 → The tendons of the muscles that control movement of the wrist, to the dorsal, are swollen, and pain may appear anywh ere in the arm or forearm. Depending on the site, placing the plates as shown in figures.

EPITROCHLEITIS ← Figure 5 Inflammation of the tendons of the muscles that control movement of the wrist and fingers. Similar to the above EPICONDYLITIS- but on the inside of the elbow and forearm. The plates are placed according to figure.

ARTHROSIS OF METACARPAL PHALANGES Figure 6 → It affects the joints of the base of the toes. Very painful, usually hinders the use of hands. A plaque to be placed on the inside of the elbow and the other at the base of the finger or fingers sore.

SHOULDER PAIN ← Figure 7 Located in the front or side of the shoulder by inflammation

of the tendons that control movement, especially the lifting arm. A plate on the back of the neck and the other in the area of maximum pain.

BONE FRACTURES Because of its great diversity, it can be labeled a particular line of application. Is advisable to place the plates in the sense either rupture or above and below the affected area. Exist independently of the above, a large number of disorders or conditions in which the analgesic effect of TENS can be very beneficial. We can mention among them the trigeminal -sensitive pain points of the face-, sore metatarsal phalangeal -foot-, toothaches, menstrual cramps, etc..

COXALGIA ← Figure 8 Painful arthritis caused by inflammation in the joint the hip. A plaque on the back at about waist height, an d the other on the sore spot of course keeping in mind the side-right or left-affected. If the pain affects the whole leg to the knee, vary the position of the plates as shown in Fig. A hip, another in the knee.

DORSAL PAINS ← Figure 10 As the name implies, t he classic "back pain" which can appear only on one side or both. The plates were placed under the figure, respecting the daily alternation in case of bilateral pain.

LOW BACK PAIN Figura 9 → Severe pain in lower back that can occur at either side or both simultaneously. Naturally, in each case, the plates are positioned according to Fig. In the case of horizontal application of the plates, the position is indistinct, although we recommend the daily alternation in their use.

TIBIO TARSAL SPRAIN Figure 11 → In the famous "sprain ed ankle" can soothe the pain, by placing the plates in two positions, as presented, and point of maximum pain sensitivity.

CERVICALGIA ← Figure 12 One of the best known disease s of the cervical vertebrae, caused by osteoarthritis, strokes or sudden movements. The pain may be localized to one side or bilaterally. In any case, the position of the plates to be placed according to figure and painful area. Remember to keep the alternating daily application. TENDONITIS IN THE ACHILLES TENDON ← Figure 14 Inflammation that affects the thick, strong muscle, which in the back and lower leg, connects the heel to the calf. The plates should be placed as presented, and area of maximum pain.

SYNDROME OF ABDUCTORS ← Figure 16 This pain, which affects the abductor muscles, located inside of the thigh, should be in the form specified in the figure, or a plaque on the knee, and another at the precise point, whichever is the adductor muscle more sorely.

LUMBOSCIATALGIA Figure 13 → Is the pain radiating from the lower back by the back of the leg, and in some cases can reach the foot, due to a herniated disc or irritation of the nerve centers. The position of the plates is according to the zone of maximum pain.

GONALGIA Figure 15 → Painful condition of the knee. Its causes can be many and varied, arthritis, bruises, ligament or meniscus injuries, spr ains, etc.. The position of the plates can be vertical or horizontal, as set and location of pain.

HERPES ZOSTER (SHINGLES) Figure 17 → Rash accompanied by great itching, viruslike and characterized by the formation of multiple spots and vesicles that crust over when dry. The plates are placed on the edges of the affected area. If your application is continued, we recommend using the button "wave train", if the apparatus has.
