Publication Overview Established in 1978, Musicworks remains the only professionally curated and edited Canadian source of in-depth coverage on artists, new works, and emerging ideas across the spectrum of experimental music and sound art. The award-winning publication is driven to present stories that readers are unlikely to find anywhere else. Musicworks connects listeners and readers to the world’s most adventurous sounds and stories in a magazine and companion recording. Three times per year, the publication is delivered to libraries, universities, businesses, studios, directors, audio engineers, composers, and artists, across the globe, and it is displayed, collected, and eagerly received by a loyal and growing subscription base. Musicworks has participated in various festivals and conferences, such as 21C at the Royal Conservatory, the Guelph Jazz Festival, Festival International Musique Actuelle Victoriaville, International Computer Music Conference, Deep Wireless Festival of Radio and Transmission Art, and many more. Terms and Conditions Ad contracts must be signed prior to publication. Cancellation by the advertiser must be confirmed by Musicworks. With written notice of 6 or more weeks prior to the booking deadline, advertiser may terminate contract without penalty, in the event of late cancellation or non-receipt of artwork, advertiser will be liable for full payments of reserved space. Musicworks reserves the right to reject advertisements deemed objectionable for reasons including but not limited to appearance, content, wording, or character. All advertising is accepted with the understanding that the advertiser has read, understood, and agreed to the terms and conditions of this rate card. Clients will be sent a digital tear sheet of their ad.

Get all eyes on your promotion through our multiple outreach programs: The Musicworks in the Classroom program delivers magazines to thousands of postsecondary students in music and arts studies across Canada. With the support of our donors, schools can access the program free of charge and more students can explore the creative processes in professional musicmaking. Electronic Music Composition Contest is an annual juried contest that presents opportunities for new musical talents. All contestants are given a free subscription with entry. Winners receive cash prizes, are published in the magazine and are promoted through our partners, on social media channels and in press releases.

Review Spotlight is a curated feature for exclusive online-only content. This segment draws attention to noteworthy recordings from both experienced and emerging artists. Review Spotlight coverage is one of the ways Musicworks keeps readers and followers engaged in between issues via the e-newsletter, web site, and social media platforms.
