“We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams.” The iconic poem We Are the Music Makers by Arthur O'Shaughnessy embodies the spirit of who we are as people and our expression through music. This setting of his poem has two distinct parts: a fast, rhythmic and joyous section and a slow, introspective and somber section. With the addition of a semi chorus, this work allows a small group of singers to add color and texture and act as an independent voice within the full chorus.
This piece was premiered by the Choir School of Delaware, Arreon Harley-Emerson director, for their 135th Anniversary in June 2019.
