Young Scot's songwriters prepare to hit the road! The Scottish Music Centre's touring initiative ‘Hit The Road’ is returning for it’s fourth tour of the year, with young artists aged 14-19 primed to take to stages across the length and breadth of Scotland.

The project, which is funded by Creative Scotland’s Youth Music Initiative (YMI) and The Big Lottery Fund sees MEGAN D from Edinburgh, IMOGEN ISLAY HAY from Kirkhill and JOSIE ROSE from Stornoway embark on a three date tour to various locations across the length of the country including a trip to the Isle of Lewis, a first for the project. The dates and venues are as follows: 4 September - Electric Circus, Edinburgh 5 September - Mad Hatters, Inverness 6 September - Woodland Centre, Stornoway The acts have recently just completed pre-production with Davie Scott (The Pearlfishers, BMX Bandits) and his team of tutors in Glasgow and are looking forward to heading out on tour.

‘Hit The Road’ is a touring project for 14-19 year old aspiring performers at an early stage in their music making. Hit the Road will present five tours of Scotland, themed by music genre. Participants are also invited to training workshops with industry professionals covering all aspects of the reality of touring, while there will also be training opportunities for young people wishing to try out support roles such as sound engineering and stage technicians. When & Where? Each tour takes three acts on the road, with each act taking the headline slot to their home town crowd. Who Can Apply? Online registration is now open for those who are: aged 14-19 living in Scotland involved in any kind of music making interested in learning about and developing their own musical career Who Can’t Apply? Acts who have previous touring experience. Acts who are signed or associated with professional record, publishing or management.
