Tourism: 47 million foreign and American tourists visiting each year. Major destinations include the Empire State Building, Ellis Island, Broadway theatre productions.

Tourism: The main attractions are in the two old towns (Lower Town and Toompea) which are both easily explored on foot. Eastern districts around Pirita and Kadriorg are also worth visiting and the Estonian Open Air Museum near Rocca al Mare, west of the city, preserves aspects of Estonian rural culture and architecture.

Cost (as of June 2006): Fares begin at $2.50 ($3.00 after 8:00 p.m., and $3.50 during the peak weekday hours of 4:00–8:00 p.m.) and increase based on the distance traveled and time spent in slow traffic (40 cents for each one-fifth of a mile or 60 seconds of no motion or motion under 12 miles an hour).

Cost (2009): The base fare usually 35–70 EEK. The waiting charge, used only when the taxi is actually standing, 100–300 EEK/hr. The per-kilometre charges: a daytime charge used from 6:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., and a nighttime charge used from 11:00 p.m. to 6:00 a.m. both usually 8–15 EEK/km.
