MUMC Master Site Plan – Phase 1 The MUMC team and COSCO went through multiple design & review cycles before a final conceptual design was reached for Phase 1 of the MSP and presented to Admin Council in the Aug 26th meeting. Administrative Council reviewed and deliberated on multiple critical components of the MSP and fully endorsed and approved the presentation of Phase 1 of the MSP to membership of MUMC in preparation for a congregational vote in October.  Blue section (Phase-1) identified critical needs & benefits o New construction and renovation in the current Dining Room/stage area. o This new commons area will create a warm, welcoming, inviting space that will accommodate larger groups and still support all ministries of the church with multi-use fellowship as it does now. o Up-fit to Gym in support of the growth realized in The Deep, Student Ministry, new 801South ministry and other church and community events. o High-end audio/visual & lighting equipment in gym to enhance all of these ministries. The current plan is to repurpose much of this equipment in a future worship venue. o Gym will still support all current activities after up-fit is complete with a new, safer floor and better acoustical treatment.

Development of the MSP continues with COSCO to address the remaining identified priorities and needs not included in Phase 1 and will be presented to the Admin Council for review, deliberation and decision at a future date TBD.

MUMC Master Site Plan - Phase 1 Timeline

Destination MUMC – Master Site Plan 2013

Timeline

Appendix - MUMC Master Site Process Summary  Discovery / Analysis / Recommendation o The first step was to engage with current key Ministry Heads and Church leaders for feedback on needs, trends and priorities as they align to mission critical efforts in the Church today. o Step two was to review the original MSP from 2004 / 2005 and determine what was still valid in terms of the identified needs and priorities then with the current mission critical ministries identified today. o Once the updated congregational priorities and needs were clearly understood; architecture / design firms were interviewed and extensively vetted. o After multiple meetings, the team made the recommendation to the Admin Council in March of 2013 that MUMC should partner with COSCO as it was felt they were the best suited for this project. That recommendation was approved by Admin Council.  Master Site Plan o Some new MUMC team members were identified to work with COSCO based on their ability to effectively represent the various demographics of our congregation. o COSCO completed an extensive onsite analysis of the entire campus including congregational demographics; attendance in worship services and Sunday school classes; analysis of every room to determine what each is used for and the frequency of use. o The MUMC team worked with COSCO to identify, document and prioritize the needs and wishes of the various congregational demographics, ministry leads and Church Staff through onsite interviews. o Once MUMC’s needs and priorities were identified, COSCO began to develop the MUMC site footprint views with proposed new construction to address the identified prioritized needs. o Phase 1 of the MSP was identified and detailed information and costs were developed.
