Mel Brooks ● Brooks has directed many comedy movies that are today seen as classics. Like Blazing Saddles, The Producers, and Spaceballs. ● On January 11, 1975 Brooks and Carl Reiner released the comedy album titled The 2000 Year Old Man. Which is widely thought of as one of the funniest skits in comedy history.

Lenny Bruce ● Bruce’s comedic styling were seen as very obscene and controversial. In fact three of his six arrests were as a result of obscenity. ● Bruce has been one of the key comedic influences to many famous comedians including Richard Pryor, Bill Cosby, and George Carlin.

George Carlin ● Carlin’s comedic style has been described as dark, observational, and satirical. ● Carlin hosted the first ever episode of Saturday Night Live. ● Carlin has had 15 HBO Comedy Specials throughout his career.

Dave Chappelle ● Chappelle’s self titled Comedy Central TV show Chappelle Show debuted in January of 2003. ● Chappelle’s comedy is often focused on racial issues, but also has the ability to portray different characters, poke fun at everyday things/ ● Chappelle's show was deemed controversial, but was very popular even though it aired for only three seasons.

Louis C. K. ● C.K.’s comedy has been compared to comedy legends George Carlin, and Woody Allen. ● In 2011, C.K. released his comedy special on his website Live at the Beacon Theater, which after almost six weeks after the release sales topped $1 million. ● C.K. has his own show on FX network titled Louie.

Bill Cosby ● Cosby’s second comedy album I Started Out as a Child won the Grammy award for Best Comedy Performance in 1964. ● Cosby has had two sitcoms starring him. The first was The Bill Cosby Show which aired for 2 seasons, and the next "I guess the real reason that was The Cosby Show which aired for 8 my wife and I had children is the same reason that seasons. He also created the animated Napoleon had for invading show Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. Russia: it seemed like a good idea at the time."

Redd Foxx ● Foxx started performing stand-up in the 1940s, his comedic style has been described as racial, and observational. ● Redd Foxx was actually the stage name of John Elroy Sanford. ● Foxx debuted his NBC sitcom titled Sanford and Son in 1972 the show was considered groundbreaking due to it being one of the few shows at the time to feature an African American family.

Mitch Hedberg ● Hedberg’s comedy makes fun of stuff that occurs in everyday life, and also makes peculiar juxtapositions between different things. ● His comedic style has been “I don't have a girlfriend. But described as deadpan, I do know a woman who'd observational, and surreal. be mad at me for saying that.” ● His material has a lot of wordplay and non sequiturs, and he also has a very rapid delivery.

Eddie Murphy ● Murphy was cast on Saturday Night Live when he was 21. ● Murphy is now known for his various films where he plays multiple roles. ● Murphy is known for his satirical and observational comedy.

Richard Pryor ● Pryor’s comedic style has been described as dark, storytelling, and observational. ● Pryor released 19 albums of his comedy throughout his career. ● Pryor is listed as the #1 comedian Comedy Central’s list of all time greatest stand-up comedians.

Chris Rock ● When Rock was 18 he was discovered by Eddie Murphy at New York’s Comedy Strip. ● He has been on SNL, had an Emmy winning HBO comedy special, and two Grammy winning comedy albums. ● In 2005 Rock debuted his sitcom titled Everybody Hates Chris on The CW TV Network

Jerry Seinfeld ● Seinfeld (Jerry’s sitcom) debuted on NBC in 1989 and ran for 9 seasons. ● Seinfeld’s comedic style has been described as observational and Jewish.
