DIRECTOR’s Notes When I was first introduced to “I Love You Because” years ago, I knew immediately that one day I had to be involved with the show in some capacity. I was immediately a racted to the characters, as each one is a caricature of themselves, while remaining true to their humanity. On the surface, this show is nothing but a typical roman c musical comedy, but when you start to really think about the characters, they are all individually unique in a beau ful way. My goal as a director working on this show was for the audience to see the flaws these characters have, but s ll fall in love with them. A er all, part of the beauty of the human experience is learning to love humanity, not in spite of its flaws, but because of its flaws. If we were all perfect, life would be boring. When I approached M. T. Pockets about direc ng a musical, I wasn’t sure what the response would be, but I was welcomed with open arms. I would like to thank M.T. Pockets Theatre, especially Toni, Vickie and Ed for trus ng me as an ar st, and allowing me the opportunity to create something of value to give to the world. I would like to thank the brilliant cast I have had the pleasure of working with and guiding to the final product you see on stage before you. Anthony, Amy, Patrick, Breanna, Charlie, Raquel and Dani: Thank you so much for pouring your heart and soul into this process, and thank you for trus ng my vision for this show. Finally, I would like to thank you, the audience. Without you, this show would not be possible. Thank you for suppor ng live theatre and the arts and giving us all the opportunity to do what we love and play pretend for a couple hours. Without your support, this would not be possible. I encourage you tonight to fall in love with these characters, and let them take you with them on their journey. I invite you to laugh at the comedy, but hope that you will leave the theatre tonight and take something from this experience to remember and look back on. Enjoy the show!
