Large Crowd Attends Augustine For Magisterial District Judge Event

More than 250 people from across the Mountain Top community attended the Meet and Greet for John Augustine for Magisterial District Judge on Wednesday, February 15th, held at the Wright Township Volunteer Fire Department Hall. Attendees enjoyed food and refreshments from area restaurants. A bounce house, magician, DJ and face painting were some of the many activities available for kids. Former Wright Township Supervisor Dan Frascella spoke about John’s commitment to the community. “John has always put the Mountain Top community first. Whether it was working with elected officials to create hundreds of jobs in the Crestwood Industrial Park – which helped keep taxes low for area residents - to participating and donating his time and talents to numerous community and civic groups.” Next, son Jack Augustine, 10, introduced his father to the many friends, family and supporters in the audience. John welcomed and thanked the large crowd for coming out on a Wednesday night to support his candidacy. He explained that he is one of the only candidates that is certified and qualified by the Administrative Office of PA Courts, the Minor Judiciary Board and the PA Constitution to become the next

Magisterial District Judge, for the greater Mountain Top Community. He said that he is running as the Community Candidate, as this position was created for the common person or “justice of the peace” to deal with neighborhood and community issues. Historically, this important community responsibility was served by someone who was not biased based on past experiences. He pointed out that he is not a lawyer, or a police officer but promised that he would be someone, “who would be fair, impartial, neutral and reasonable to all - while also keeping the community’s best interests at heart.” John pledged that he will do his best to, “be a proactive Judge and continue to make Mountain Top a great place, to live, work, play and raise a family,” as he has always wanted to serve the public and give back to his community and has spent his personal and professional life doing so. John is an active member of St. Jude’s Church and a strong supporter of many local causes and charities and a loyal contributor to the area’s first responders. He sits on the Board of Directors for the PA State Police / Troop “P” Wyoming Camp Cadet program. He started the Rice Township Neighborhood Community Watch and organized and chaired the “Mountain Top Crime, Safety and

The 4th annual “Swing for Home” Golf Tournament will be held at Huntsville Golf Club on Monday, May 8, 2017. The tournament benefits the Home Base Foundation, which identifies, motivates, and clinically treats returning service members with combat stress and traumatic brain injury, and provides support and education for their families. Rain date is May 17. “PTSD and TBI are especially difficult because many do not seek treatment and recovery is a very long and intense process” said tournament co-organizer, Andrea O’Neill “This is a fantastic opportunity to play a beautiful private course and help these brave men and women return to the life they fully deserve.” Tournament organizers, Andrea O’Neill and Mary Wargo, organized the tournament to meet the fundraising requirement of the Run to Home Base, the primary fundraiser for the Home Base Foundation. Both women are registered participants in the 2017 Run to Home Base. This is the 4th run for Wargo and the 7th for O’Neill. Cost is $150/player and includes the use of range and putting green, continental breakfast, green fees and cart, use of locker room, lunch and prizes. Cash bar and cart will be available. The tournament is a Captain and Crew format with a shotgun start. Early bird registration is $125.00/Player if received by March 15, 2017. Of the nearly 3 million veterans living in the United States today, 1 in 3 are affected by an invisible

wound of war. In 2012, more U.S. servicemen died by their own hands than in battle. “Many people think that when service members come home, they are free to enjoy their life but that isn’t always the case.” explained O’Neill “The mind is a powerful thing and the fact that these men and women are out of harms way, but can’t rest, is terribly unfair. We want to help.” Deadline to register is Monday, April 14, 2017 via mail or online at swing4home.eventrbite. com. Winter Warmth At Emmanuel UCC The weather outside may be frightful, especially these last couple of weeks, but we have a warm place to go on Sunday mornings. Sunday mornings at 9:15 am is Sunday School for ages 3 through 6th grade. We have a great program based on our Hands On Bibles. We’ll have fun making crafts, playing games, and solving puzzles which help us understand the stories in our Hands On Bibles. Come join us as we learn about God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit. Teen Talk is for anyone in 7th grade and above, we talk about God and Jesus, how our lives are influenced by them and how we can be an influence to others around us. There are so many things that try to manipulate us away from God. Come to Teen Talk and find other teens who want to make their faith stronger and be better at dealing with ideas and things that pull us away from being Christians. After Sunday School, our Sunday

service begins at 10:30 am which is le by Pastor Lou Aita and we invite everyone to join us in praising and worshipping God our Creator, Jesus our Savior and the Holy Spirit our Guide. Through all this, the passion of God’s love and the power of his grace bring a warm and cozy feeling in these cold and frosty days. So, come in for a healthy dose of God’s warmth.
