What a Mighty God we serve!

What are the things God is able to do?

Matthew 14: 22 - 33 < Triumphant Response (verse 29)

Drawings by Marcel

Terrible Reality (verse 30 a) > < Trembling Request (verse 30 b) Timely Reply (verse 31) >

The wind ceased (v32)...They came and worshipped Him (v33)

I know the one in whom I trust, and I am sure that He is able to guard what I have en-

trusted to Him until the day of his return. (2 Tim 1: 12) Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. (Eph 3: 20) God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work. (2 Cor 9: 8 - NKJV) Since He himself has gone through suffering and testing, He is able to help us when we are being tested. (Heb 2: 18) He is able, once and forever, to save those who come to God through him. (Heb 7: 25) Now all glory to God, who is able to keep you from falling away and will bring you with great joy into his glorious presence without a single fault. (Jude 24).

Able to speak and to make it come true. Able to love through the fullness of time. Able to deal with the wickedest crime! Able to fashion whatever He thinks. Able to live with no water to drink. Able to send us to Heaven or Hell. Able to break any potion or spell. Able to live where His people cannot Able to visit the sun when it’s hot. Able to save and He’s able to guard. Able to do what’s impossibly hard. Able to do things miraculously. Able to go where nobody can see. Able to love and is able to free. Able to know what is lacking in me. Able to strengthen and tell us “Be brave”! Able His people to perfectly save. Able to separate people from sin. Able to triumph and always to win. Able to cause all His grace to abound. Able to find that which cannot be found. Able to save those who are longing to live Able to listen and then to forgive. Able to help when we’re tempted by sin. Able to conquer and always to win. Able to save us from stumbling around Able to hear in the absence of sound. Able to know what tomorrow will bring. Able to hide His folk under His wing. Able to laugh and is able to cry Able to see to it, we’ll never die. Able to heal one who was born blind. Able to bless and to always be kind. Able to raise people up from the dead. Able to give us the heavenly bread. Able to come here and be crucified. Able to live when we know that He died. ~Jim Strickland -2012

BROKEN TO BE MADE WHOLE

BRINGING JOY AT EASTER TIME Mike

Taljaard and his wife Andy have always had a heart for helping the ‘underdog’! Some years ago they met the leaders of some of the humanitarian projects we had started and were responsible for. They fell in love with the people and the concepts and start- ed helping them with efforts of their own. They contributed themselves and started raising funds themselves, and perfectly complemented the work of Orphan’s Promise and Bless Africa. Today they are partners with us, and, through the gifts of 700 Club members and other partners, we were able to provide them with funds with which to bless the children of our Day Care Centres in the shack settlements of Waterworks and Thembelihle. Mike and Andy bought Easter eggs and made hot dogs and on the last day of school before the Easter weekend they went to both Day Care Centres and gave them to excited groups of children. What a joy it was to see the faces of pre-schoolers light up to receive an Easter surprise. These gifts had nothing to do with the message of Easter, but once the children had enjoyed them the message of the Cross and the Resurrection were reinforced and they were told how much God loves them to send His Son to suffer and die for them that they may be free from the consequences of sin. Mike and Andy have other projects in other parts of Gauteng that they are helping, and we will be reaching out to them too, and partnering them on this venture of faith. Our production department will be working on several stories from these projects as they come to light.

WINNIE >>>>>>>> <<<<<<<EASTER JOY

author, Winnie Thuku had perfectly planned her life. She was career driven and knew exactly what she wanted. On her list? A baby! Because of her bad experience growing up, however, Winnie didn’t want to get married. Instead, she decided to ask a friend to help her conceive. In no time, she was pregnant! But eight months later she lost her baby. So depressed was she, that she even declared war with God. And in the process, she lost everything that she had - her house, savings and even her friends. Through writing down her feelings (to God) Winnie started to heal and regained her trust in Him. “God had to break me, crush me into pieces and He was the only one who could bring me back together and mould me into the person that He wanted me to be,” she says. Today Winnie is a successful author, maturing as a Christian, happily married, and mother to a healthy little boy! God has restored her life. She says, “I look at my life today and I don’t regret the pain that I went through”. Through her books Winnie helps a lot of women who have not only lost their children, but who have given up on God. These women motivate Winnie Thuku to keep telling her story. “You can use the wounds that you experienced in your life to help heal someone else’s life”. Winnie’s story is the subject of a production that the South African CBN production team is busy reenacting for post-production.

TEACHING

Don’t limit the Lord

People may think God should do things

a certain way—but God is not limited to human thinking! Naaman was a proud general who came to Elisha for healing. He was insulted when the prophet simply sent a message telling him to dip in the Jordan seven times. Naaman went away angry and said, “I thought that he would surely come out to me and stand and call on the name of the LORD his God, wave his hand over the spot and cure me of my leprosy” (2 Kings 5:11). But when Naaman humbly obeyed, he was instantly healed. Samuel also had his own ideas as he went to anoint a new king from among Jesse’s older sons. Samuel saw Eliab and thought, “Surely the LORD’s anointed stands here before the LORD.” But the LORD said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. … Man looks at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart” (1 Samuel 16:6-7). God chose David, Jesse’s youngest son—a shepherd boy who had not even been invited to the party! It’s a mistake to tell God how to heal you, how to provide a spouse for you, or how to do any miracle. Let him figure it out, because He is Almighty God! When Elijah was in the cave, there was an earthquake, a windstorm, and a fire, but God wasn’t in them. Finally came that still small voice speaking in a very quiet and gentle manner, and it was God (1 Kings 19:12 KJV). This is the way He works. So, whatever you are asking Him for, believe God—then let Him do it in His way. God bless you. Scripture is quoted from the NIV except as noted.

AS SEEN ON THE 700 CLUB Easy tips to save time and money

When Mary Hunt’s husband lost his job, it was a wake-up call—they had

been spending carelessly. To her shock, they had amassed thousands of dollars in debt. “It had to get so bad before I was willing to surrender our financial situation to God,” says Mary. They spent the next 13 years of their marriage working hard and learning everything they could about how to cut expenses and live without incurring new debt. She looked for ways to stretch every dollar. In fact, she collected so many tips that in 1992, she began publishing Cheapskate Monthly, which led to a syndicated column, a website, and her book, Cheaper, Better, Faster. Mary loves inventing new uses for household items. Dryer sheets can clean dusty computer screens. A dab of clear nail polish can fasten a stamp. A glue stick can stop a stocking run. And remote batteries can last longer by cleaning the contacts with a pencil eraser. “I had to learn that it was good for me to … save…. so that I would have

money to pay back debt, to give, to save, to do things that do matter,” Mary explains. “While these things might seem kind of silly … they change your focus.”

in respect of the hope of eternal life for us, God, who cannot lie, promised it before time began (Titus 1: 2). God will never break His covenant with us. We have been sealed with the Holy Spirit of promise (Eph 1: 13) for the day of redemption (Eph 4: 30). ing to the power that works in us” (Eph 3:20). If we allow Him to work His power in us we too are all-powerful!

We are thankful to God for His ability to save the many who have watched our programs that went out over the airwaves, those who have attended Christian film shows in our townships, sponsored by our partners, and those who have benefited from the pure water and nutritional food we have by God’s grace given to whole communities. Truly He is ... able to save to the uttermost those who come to God through Him, since He always lives to make intercession for them (Heb 7: 25). Thank you, partner, for standing with us in prayer and support, for you have played an integral part in the salvation of the many who have come to God through Christ. If perchance you are reading these lines but have never joined the 700 Club or supported a ministry project, may I encourage you to do so? Join the other believers who by their prayers and gifts are making a difference in the lives of many who were outside of the influence of our God who is more than able to meet them at the point of their need. I look forward to hearing from you. All Bible references are from the NKJV

Purpose Statement In the fulfillment of our mission, as to calling and message, our biblical role model is John the Baptist; as to wisdom, it is Solomon; as to ministry to Israel, it is the prophet Ezekiel. In all that we are, do and say, it is Jesus Christ.

Jeff ’s new strategy yields annual increase

He lost more than $100,000 as his business

took a turn for the worse. Jeff was deep in debt. He owned a roofing company and he restored and re-sold houses. Jeff admits that he gloated in taking credit for his own success in the early stages of his business. “I believed in me, me, me—and not relying on God.” So when the real estate market took a downward turn, Jeff, like so many others, was stuck with houses that wouldn’t sell. He began cutting personal costs, and he started watching The 700 Club. After seeing the encouraging testimonies of other business owners, Jeff realized that he needed to put God first, and he began to give regularly to his church. Then he joined the 700 Club and began to make a regular monthly contribution. He increased his giving and in time he was able to pay down his debt. For the past two years, Jeff says his business has exceeded his wildest dreams in profits. “The 700 Club was there when I needed somebody,” says Jeff. “Even in the roughest times, I learned to trust God.”
