Presentations and media

In Presentations and Media we learned the basics of rendering and drawing by hand, and how to properly scale drawings. The residential plan and section above is an example of one of the first exercises we did to put into practice the techniques learned in class.

At the end of Presentations and Media, we got to learn a little about sketchup. For this project, we had to build a pergola and design a landscape in sketchup.

In Landscape Systems, we would go outdoors and would learn about the systems present. During this time, we would sketch the area in a way that showed how it worked. The section above is from a park we visited in Starkville.

The section above is another sketch of the woodland in the park. The upperstory, understory, and topography are all shown.

computers in landscape architecture

In Computers in Landscape Architecture, we learned how to learn several digital programs including AutoCAD, Photoshop, Sketchup, InDesign, and Illustrator. The perspective above is of the final project for the class. For this project, we had to make a design for a given site and create a sketchup model of it. I also did photoshop and hand graphics on top of the sketchup screenshot.

While learning how to use Adobe products, we had to create a section using digital tools. Above is my section I created primarily using photoshop.

FOr this project we had to design a seat wall area for the front of Suddoth Elementary School. In my construction details, I included two types of seat wall designs and a section of what the overall site would look like with the seat walls.

This project in Design 2 revolved around A site in downtown starkville. We were required to design a site with a certain square footage of retail, office, and residential space. We also had to incorperate the railroad into our designs.

The above plan and section are enlarged drawings of a courtyard in my masterplan pictured on the previous page. I went with a circular design as a contrast to the linear design of the rest of the site.

PERSONAL INTEREST: art

Art is a hobby I have always loved and enjoyed. Ever since I was young, I have worked hard to make my doodles look like works of art. The art aspect of Lanscape Architecture is one of the reasons I chose the major. My favorite subjects to illustrate are animals, as you can tell by the pieces I have chosen to feature. The dog is a portrait I painted for a present, and the pegasus is a piece I did just for fun.

My mom has always loved my bird paintings/drawings. This is what inspired me to paint this blue jay, along with the fact the blue jay is such a beautiful bird.

The meerkat painting to the right is a quick painting I did for a friend on her birthday.
