Groups & Public Service Help VA spread the word about our mission to end Veteran homelessness by 2015. Download brochures, posters and other materials to distribute in your VA facility or through community organizations. VA has partnered with the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) to move homeless Veterans and their families into permanent supportive housing with case management and health care services. Called HUD-VASH—for HUD-VA Supportive Housing—the program combines rental assistance from HUD with VA’s proven case management and clinical services. These services are available to eligible homeless Veterans at local medical centers and community-based outpatient clinics across the country. This month, do your part to help promote better lives for the Veterans who have served our country. If you know a Veteran who is homeless or at risk of being homeless, provide him or her with the number to the National Call Center for Homeless Veterans. Questions? Email VAHomeless_Veteran_Outreach@va.gov

The mission of Miracle of Love, Inc. is to provide comprehensive, multicultural HIV/AIDS care, education and prevention services that are effective and responsive to the Central Florida communities. The Housing Opportunity for Persons with AIDS (HOPWA) program addresses specific housing needs to low-income persons living with HIV/ AIDS and their families. HOPWA is a “needs-based” program and clients must provide verifiable documentation of their i nability to make their housing payment as it relates to their HIV disease. Federal guidelines require each recipient to contribu te 30% of their household income to their monthly housing expense. Call and ask to speak with the "housing search advocate" or "someone to help me look for housing." The housing advocate can explain the different options available to you and help you with applications . HOPWA services include: ShortTerm Rent, Mortgage and Utility Assistance (STRMU), Tenant Based Rental Assistance (TBRA), Permanent Housing Placement (PHP)-Deposit Assistance and Supportive Services to the Orlando Eligible Metropolitan Statistical Area (EMSA) which includes Lake, Orange, Osceola, and Seminole counties.

prescription in the U.S. and Canada under the brand name Marinol. Cannabinoid Receptors- are a class of cell membrane receptors under the G protein-coupled receptor superfamily. CB1 and CB2- The CB1 receptor is expressed mainly in the brain (central nervous system or "CNS"), but also in the lungs, liver and kidneys. The CB2 receptor is expressed mainly in the immune system and in hematopoietic cells. A number of studies show that THC provides medical benefits for cancer and AIDS patients by increasing appetite and decreasing nausea. It has also been shown to assist some glaucoma patients by reducing pressure within the eye, and is used in the form of cannabis by a number of multiple sclerosis patients, who use it to alleviate neuropathic pain and spasticity. The National Multiple Sclerosis Society is currently supporting further research into these uses. Studies in humans have been limited by federal and state laws criminalizing marijuana. Nazmia Jamal— What do I mean by Black? I have used ‘Black’ in the same way that the Lesbians Talk book has. The definition they worked with is that of the London Black Lesbian and Gay Centre who defined those who are ‘Black’ as being “descended (through one or both parents) from Africa, Asia (i.e. the Middle East to China, including the Pacific nations) and Latin America, and lesbians and gay men descended from the original inhabitants of Australasia, North America, and the islands of the Atlantic and Indian Ocean.” Like so much of LGBT History the specific experience of black British lesbians is being lost. The books are out of print and the memories are fading for not always being shared. Nazmia Jamal has created a new online chronology to try and preserve this memory. The basis for the Black British lesbian timeline is the chronology printed in Valerie Mason-John & Ann Khambatta’s 1993 book Lesbians Talk Making Black Waves. This is the first step in a larger archive project. Nazmia is planning to apply for funding over the summer to set up a proper website. But in the meantime she needs your help. If you have any images, documents, publications, banners, memories etc that you would like to share please do get in touch. email nazmiaijamal@gmail.com
