Kiwanis International, Circle a lead in supporting K’s parent organization, has ELIMINATE. In line with the teamed up with UNICEF to initiative, proceeds from RPI launch a new initiative – CIRCLEK Haunted House will eliminating Maternal and go towards ELIMINATE. Neonatal Tetanus. This deadly disease steals the lives of 60,000 innocent babies and 30,000 mothers each year. The effects of the disease are excruciating — tiny newborns suffer repeated, painful convulsions and extreme sensitivity to light and touch. To eliminate MNT from the Earth by 2015, 129 million mothers and their future babies must be immunized. This requires vaccines, syringes, safe storage, transportation, thousands of skilled staff and more. It will take $110 million — and the dedicated work of UNICEFand every member of the Kiwanis family. In doing so, the project will reach the poorest, most neglected mothers and babies with additional lifesaving health care. will be prepared enough to face the horror of Rensselaer after the great zombiepocalypse! This year, as part of our fundraising efforts, Circle K will once again run its haunted house in RPI’s West Hall. The efforts are being led by Jill Johnson, Jesse Skolnick, and Suman Patnaik. We are most fortunate to have several organizations volunteering time and man-power to make this event possible. The Epsilon Delta Sigma (management honors society), National Society of Black Engineers, and the Phi Mu Delta fraternity have all decided to pitch in and get this done. Together, we will all turn West Hall into an image of a post-apocalyptic Rensselaer. It will hopefully be complete with zombies, some very scary scenery, and some general creepiness. This should turn out to be a most exciting Circle K event for Fall 2010!
