MSC Olympics 2013 Holds Opening Ceremony BY: Mheriil Mengullo and Primo Pamintuan

The Marinduque State College faculty and students held their opening program of Olympics 2013 at Boac Campus, August 19, 2013. With the theme “Sharing MSC’s Legacy through Festival of Sports, Cultural and Literary, the part 1. of the programmed started with a parade of faculty and students at 7:30 AM. After the parade, the MSCians gathered at the covered court where the thanksgiving mass was held.

SSC and SSCF hold Oath Taking Ceremony The Supreme Student Council of each campus and the elected officers of the Supreme Student Council Federation of Marinduque State College for Academic Year 2013-2014 held their oath taking at SAED Audio Visual Room, August 19, 2013.

Started at exactly 1:30 PM, the oath taking ceremony of the elected officers of the SSC and the SSCF was led by Dr. Romulo H. Malvar. The ceremony was also assisted by the VP for Academic Affairs, Dr. Leodegario Jalos and OSA Director Mr. Arnel Lantita. After the oath taking, Dr. Malvar said his speech which inspired the elected officers as he stated his visions for the institution and how would be able to adapt to the change to the new system of education implemented by the government. He also said that the students should be prepared for the ASEAN 2015 in order to meet the quality education needed by the youth, to be competitive inside and outside of the By: Mherill P. After the thanksgiving mass, the opening programstarted. Dr. Romulo H. Malvar gave his opening remarks. He mentioned ViceGovernor Romulo Bacorro as the guest speaker and introduced the judges who were Mr. Federico, Sports Director and Mr. Rosales, Culture of Arts Director of Southern Luzon State University, Vice Governor Romulo Bacorro, Vice Mayor of Torrijos Roberto Macdon and the Supply Officer, Mrs. Grace Yllanan and the chairman of the judges, Mr. Almon of Cavite State University. After the speech of the president, the guest speaker also delivered his speech. Afterwards, the lighting of the symbolic torch was done by Ms. Lindel P. de Luna. While theathletic oath was done by Ms. Judy Ann A. Bata-anon, followed by the declaration of officials oath by Mr. Edgardo Laririt.

The opening of the Olympics was declared by Mr. Romulo Malvar through the raising of the flags of the unit muses and escorts. While the eyes, hopes and ears of the students focused on the main event on that day which is the cheer dance competition of each teams. The first team to compete was the Matrix followed by the Seiners, Artisan, Nexus, E-nnovators, the Trojans, Blue Flames and the Lex Coercitor. With the incredible performance made by the cheer dancers, the judges found it hard to give scores to each teams, so the SSTED Laboratory School performed while the judges are computing the scores of them. Not long after, the School of Information and Computing Science or the Ennovators hailed as the champion for the 2013 Cheer Dance Competition.
