DECO APARTMENT Rethymno, Greece Serviced Apartment Refurbishment/ Conversion Concept Development to Completion Site supervision & Project Delivery Completion 2017 Renovation of 1950’s Residence. The apartment was fully renovated and the design dealt with a limited space. The apartment was converted into two studios. One of the priorities in this renovation was the rearrangement of the interior spaces so as to be easil transformed into one residence when it is desired. This was achieved by the use of two double swing doors in the lobby area which can be opened or closed to seperate or unify the two studios. The aim was the original features of this 1950’s house to be retained. Spaces in Deco I are in an open arrangement with the bathroom physically seperated by a glazed screen divider while is partly visually connected. It is furnished with custom made furniture and fittings. Marble worktops, mosaic floors, polished plaster walls were used or retained to keep the atmosphere of the past, while clearly define the modern additions.

EVA VILLAS

These two holiday residences 170sq.m each are designed to capture the beauty of their natural surroundings with their long orthogonal volumes. The villas are three bed two storey buildings. The ground floor hosts an open plan area, two bedrooms and a bathroom. The master bedroom with an en-suite bathroom and a study room are on the upper floor. The long stone façade makes use of reinforced concrete elements to frame the volume of the building.

The houses are low energy building. The pitched roof was designed to use a photovoltaic system, which will generate enough energy to meet the electrical needs of the residences.

Episkopi, Greece 2017 New Build Complex and Interior Design Concept Development to Completion Site supervision & Project Delivery Completion 2016

This project is a complex of 25 units with four swimming pools, located in Crete. The design proposal is inspired by the local vernacular architecture of the greek islands and the natural topography of the area.

The architectural language is based on the principle of continuous and seamless movement between enclosed, courtyards and open spaces, considering the greek summer climate. Internally the materials and the furniture that were specified intended to give an atmosphere of a peaceful, comfortable lifestyle, in close contact with the surrounding landscape and architecture.

Gerakari, Greece 2015 New Build Complex Concept Development to Completion Site supervision & Project Delivery Completion 2015 ‘Alexander Villas’ are part of the ‘Alexander Group’. The site is adjacent to the ‘Alexander Suites’ project. The six buildings of the complex comprise 6 residences of 65sq.m with common swimming pool, lobby and a café. Each of them has two floors. On the upper floor there is the bedroom zone. On the ground floor there is the living zone with a private yard. The volumes of the semi-enclosed balconies are modern interpretation of the Greek traditional architecture element of ‘kioski’.

Gerakari, Greece 2015 New Build Complex Concept Development to Feasibility study On stage D - Design Development

The inclination of the site is used to separate the four suites, while creating a ‘two levels falling water swimming pool’. A staircase along the site with a green wall feature brings the guest to the circulation core. The first suite is a studio apartment of 70 sq m. The second suite is again a studio apartment of 60 sq m. An internal courtyard separates the second with the third suite providing privacy to both. The third suite is two bedroom apartment with an attic. The fourth suite is the most exclusive one standing on the highest level on the site and with its own pool. It is a double floor house of 80sq.m with two bedrooms.

Plakias, Greece 2016 New Build Complex Concept Development to Planning Planning application approved

4 vacation houses are located on a steeply inclined site with great sea views. The buildings form 4 bridges connecting to the rock behind through planted private courtyards that hover above the entry to the houses. The bridges contain the bedrooms that overlook to the courtyards. The living areas are deployed in an open arrangement. Their panoramic view corresponds also to the linear pool.

PRIVATE HOUSE Residence

Rethymno, Greece 2011 New Build Complex Concept Development to Planning Planning application

A wall guides the guest towards the entrance of the house. The house is defined by its linear horizontal walls. The ground floor expands lengthwise in the plot and flanks a linear pool, that is partly enclosed; the dining room on its one side and the lounge on its other retain an immediate contact with the water. On the same floor a long wall that intersects the entry path seperates the guest area and secures the privacy of the space. All the spaces retain an open arrangement while a staircase becomes the circulation core of the threefloor building. Its dark tones and reference to rock formation respond to the local topology.

THE VIEW HOUSE Residence

Rethymno, Greece 2017 New Build Complex Concept Development to Planning Planning application approved

The ‘View’ House is embedded into a narrow and sharply sloping property in Rethymno, a challenging site, as the cliff was considered “unbuildable” for long time by the local authority,that led to the creation of a house that is both integrated into the landscape and open to the town below.When planning the interior space and its relationship to the environment, the architect was conscience by doing everything possible to capture the breathtaking views to the outdoors. It was important that the structural supports be appropriately buried into the base of the house while still allowing for as much glass and natural light possible. The building is divided into three volumes.

STAMFORD SCHOOL School

Stamford, UK 2013 Extension Concept Development to Completion Completion, 2013

The proposal rationalised the internal circulation, and reconfigured internal spaces to create staff room, medical room, reprographic and storage spaces. The extension formed two additional classrooms and ancillary spaces these were articulated into the existing school with a glazed courtyard. This was also used to maximize the energy efficiency of the extension. Site constraints – encroaching on school playing field, thus extensive negotiations with sports England in order to minimise the loss of playing field. Reconfiguration of the playing field into different zones of soft and hard areas. Building work had to be programmed and negotiated around operational school further more the program was accelerated to achieve the clients early completion request.

CLEETHORPES CENTRAL Promenade Development

Cleethorpes, UK 2015 New Build Concept Development Feasibility study, 2015

The project proposed a commercial development as requested from the brief that was set from the North- East Lincolnshire Council. It accommodates a mix of uses including family restaurant, cafĂŠ bar, entertainment venue, nightclub and casino. It proposes a multi-functional complex with a public square for entertainment and socialising. The building becomes part of the urban infrastructure, connecting the green area with the building. Its sloping roof becomes part of the public space. A landmark, a sunclock is also proposed in order to add an urban identity in the city.

ROGERS STIRK HARBOUR British museum North-west extension

Part II Architectural Assistant in RSHP. Assisting the project from Stage C to planning preparation drawings. Conceptual Design, 3D Visualisation. British museum 135,000 North west extension project. The development addresses urgent needs in terms of the museum’s infrastructure and provides a new exhibition space, state -ofthe-art conservation and science laboratories and studios, world class accommodation for the study collection, as well as facilities to support the extensive UK and international loan programme. It allows the museum to enhance the exhibition experience.

LOTS ROAD POWERSATION Farrells

Part II Architectural Assistant at Farrells Lots Road is a redevelopment project of the Power Station and site at Chelsea creek. Assisted on the planning drawings of the residential tower and the production drawings, on the Interior Design developement, on the details drawings. I took part on meeting with various consultants with plannes and the English heritage.

Farrells, UK 2006-2007 Part II Architectural Assistant at Farrells Blackpool talbot Gateway is a regenaration masterplanning competition held by Reblackpool. I was working on the feasibility study for the proposal for the new train staion and the court building.


LEEDS EASTGATE

Part II Architectural Assistant at Farrells Leeds Eastgate is a feasibility study proposal for Eastgate and Harewood quarter of Leeds. I worked on the design development of the new market. I produced drawings for the Glazed Galleria proposal in Templar Street. I produced concept development drawings and 3D visualisations for the scheme.

FURNITURE DESIGN


Residential Furniture Design Chairs, table series Concept Development to Manufacturing Manufactured, 2017

The idea of these furniture series is to use a metal geometric grid for a collection of furniture, beds, side tables and console tables. The concept of the ‘kilimi’ chair is about creating a brand which is using Greek folklore artifacts by redefining the design and meaning of the folklore objects. These metal chairs are using ‘kilimi’ the traditional folk tapestries of Crete.

Office Furniture Design Desk and conference table Concept & Detail Design, 2014

The project deals with the design of a desk for an office space. The first proposal uses chipboard as the main material. The form flows and integrates with the space. The second proposal of the desk uses steel and glass as the main materials. The steel structure supports the glass panes and supports its linear flow creating a light fitting. The conference table is made by steel and tinted glass. The grid that supports the table, also becomes a shelving system.

Light Fitting Design Floor Led Lamp - ‘Kantili’ Lamp Ideas Design Competition Indoor/ Outdoor Led Luminaire, 2014 Award for the design competition entry. Kantili is a floor led lamp, torchiere type. The inspiration for this light came from the Greek folklore and traditional culture. We were inspired by the Greek church object ‘thimiato- kantili’.The tradition to light this folk object has survived from ancient sacred times. The aim was to create a light that gives a relaxing feel and a sense of well being. It points the light up at the ceiling and the surrounded walls creating a cross symbol which bounces of it to provide a diffused general light.

Packaging drawings

The lamp is constructed by double-glazed glass. The internal organic plane of glass is a magnifying lens which has a large diffuse. The metal disc is made by anodised aluminium. The lamp alternatively can be made by recycled large oil bottles.
