SAO PAULO

PANORAMIC CITY TOUR SAO PAULO

PACAEMBU – SOCCER MUSEUM VISIT

TERRAÇO ITALIA You could almost be in a London gentlemen’s club at the bar at the top of landmark Edificio Itália, if it weren’t for the floor-to-ceiling windows providing a 360-degree view of the city. Here on the 41st floor, you are above the city’s other skyscrapers bar none, and even above the helicopters below. The unobstructed view comes at a cost: R$30 added to your bill; but it’s worth it. Settle into one of the brown leather chairs, and enjoy the classic vibe over a caipirinha with saké and basil while you gaze in wonder at the city below.

FOGO DE CHÃO Brazil’s best-known barbecued meat franchise has three restaurants in São Paulo, plus branches in Brasília, Salvador, Belo Horizonte and across the USA. The owners are gaúchos, from Brazil’s South – the country’s cattle hotspot. So unlike some rodízios, Brazilian steak house restaurants, they don’t bother mucking up the menu with irrelevant sushi: just the best cuts of Brazilian meat, like picanha, fraldinha and maminha. Grab your pincers and select the bits you like the look of from the big chunks of deliciously salted flesh the waiters bring around. Note that Fogo has one of the most extensive wine lists in the city. For dessert, try the chocolate mousse with port.

FIGUEIRA RUBAIYAT The number of architecturally significant and gastronomically superb restaurants in São Paulo is astounding. Even so, finding gentrified country dining a block away from Rua Oscar Freire is a surprise. A huge 130-year-old fig tree dominates the dining area of Figueira Rubaiyat, lending it an intimate, romantic air. The restaurant is famed for serving some of the best beef in the city and for catering to paulistano power couples and the financial elite. The appetiser ofcarpaccio di funghi in truffle oil is a must, as are the pães de queijo. A main course mainstay is the sumptuous picanha sumus – premium top sirloin.

REAL ASTORIA

Opened in 1959, was one of the hottest addresses in Rio in the 80, a meeting point for artists such as Cazuuza, Bebel Gilberto and Caetano Veloso. Ortas. Almost thirty years later, the restaurant reopened in another location overlooking the Guanabara Bay. On the menu, fish and seafood are still the main attractions.

CAIS DO ORIENTE Delicious dinner and beautiful architecture are the highlights of this restaurant. Brick walls lined with tapestries stretch high to the ceiling in this almost cinematic 1870s mansion. Set on a brick-lined street hidden from the masses and surrounded by 19th and 20th century buildings, Cais do Oriente blends West with East in dishes such as filet steak and sesame tuna. The second floor, an ideal room for live music and an open terrace.

RIO SCENARIUM A veritable Lapa institution, Rio Scenarium attracts huge numbers of tourists as well as the die hard local sambistas who still, thankfully, lead the way on the dancefloor to help the place retain an air of authenticity. The fact that the live bands are always exceptional doesn't hurt either, and since the venue is practically a museum of kitsch nick-nacks as well, the first impression is always a knockout, even if the queues to get in and host of other options nearby mean that you're unlikely to become a weekly regular.  The antique clock collection is as impressive as the doll collection is creepy, and having expanded on the already-massive three floors with a separate, spacious dancefloor complete with DJs and another bar, the capacity is huge.

CARIOCA BEACH EXPERIENCE

Full Day in Sao Conrado beach in a private area for our customers. There will be umbrellas, chairs, Wi Fi, soccer and volleyball, beach rackets and entertainers for activities. Lunch consists of a barbecue with meat, salads and appetizers. Daily drinks and snacks are included.

BIKE TOUR

ROCINHA Rocinha is the largest favela in Latin America, with about 150 000 inhabitants. This tour offers the chance to immerse in the daily life of this community, visit their homes, nurseries and schools, markets, etc.. Also visit the site of the School of Samba "Academic da Rocinha".

PRADO GRILL Opened at the end of 2010, Prado conjures up thoughts of farm houses and colonial abodes even without the views out on to the nearby Jockey Club. The menu features typical Brazilian grilled meats, the varanda is an attraction in itself, and diners get an unspoilt view of the racecourse with Cristo Redentor up above. Also well worth a visit with the kids for an afternoon of all-you-can-eat pizza with the horse's thundering by if its a couple of aspiring young jockeys you're after.

SAMBA SAMBA

Unforgettable night of Carnival in Rio Samba School. Will form teams of 35 people who will represent each a samba school. The group will receive costumes and help of 20 professionals for a real carnival. In addition, there will be a jury, prize for the winning team and a veritable parade represented by members of the school.
