Creating Messages & Pages To post a short message without any detailed content (no photos, links, resources, etc.), click “Quick Message” on the toolbar. Enter a Subject and a Message and click OK. This will post your message to the class website. The Veracross Publisher allows you build unique and creative messages and pages full of content to publish to your class website. To create a new message, click “New Message” on the toolbar. This will launch the Veracross Publisher which will help you build your new message. To create a new page, click “New Page” on the toolbar. Enter a Page Title and click OK. This will launch the Veracross Publisher which will help you build your new page. Add Content: Click on any of these items to add an additional one to your Page. After you have added the details for your content, click the green “SAVE” button in the left margin. If you add content by accident, click the “cancel” text in the left margin. Add one item at a time. Move Content: Use the up and down arrows next to the Content header in the left margin to move items up or down on your page. Click on the arrows and drag your mouse up or down to move your content. Edit Content: Use the pencil in the left margin to edit an item after it has been added and saved. Delete Content: Use the X in the left margin to delete an item after it has been added and saved. Use the following types of content to build your pages. 1. Headline: Create a heading on your page. This text will be large and bold and has a character limit of 50. 2. Text: Create a body of text on your page. This text box has rich text editing to allow bold, italics, underlining, bullets, numbering and hyperlinks. There is no character limit on Text items. 3. Resource: Add any Resource from yourTeacher Portal. Select the Folder and Resource you wish to use. 4. Folder: Add any exisitng Folder from the Resources section of the Teacher Portal. Select the folder you wish to use and it will add all of its contents to the Page. 5. Image: Add an image from your Resources or from the web. If choosing an image from Resources, select the Folder and Resource you wish to use. If choosing an image from the web, paste the URL in the text box from the site where you found your image. 6. Gallery: Add a photo gallery from the Photos section of the Teacher Portal. Select the gallery you wish to use and the gallery with all of its photos will be added to the Page. Learn more about Photo Galleries. 7. Media: Embed videos, maps, documents, and more as Media on your Page. Paste the “embed link” into the Media box to embed your media. Learn more about embedding media. 8. Link: Add any URL to your page and give it a Title. Copy and paste the URL from your web browser in order to assure it is in the proper format (must have http:// at the beginning).


9. Divider: Add a dividing line to your page. A solid, dotted or dashed divider can be added to break out your page into sections.

Managing Messages To manage your Messages after you have drafts created or Messages posted, go to the “Posted” and “Drafts” folders under Messages and use the buttons within the Preview Window to manage your messages. Managing Posted Messages UNPOST – To remove a message from the class website, select the message you want to remove and click “UNPOST” in the top right corner of your preview window. This will put the message back into your Drafts folder. DELETE — To delete existing posted messages, select the page you wish to delete, and click “DELETE” in the top right corner of your preview window. You may delete the message from the current class you are in or from all classes. Deleting from only the current class means the message will still exist in any other classes it was posted to. Deleting from all classes means the message will be permanently deleted. Managing Draft Messages EDIT — To edit draft messages, go to your “Drafts” folder, select the page you wish to edit, and click “EDIT” in the top right corner of your preview window. This will open the Veracross Publisher. POST – To post draft messages, go to your “Drafts” folder, select the page you wish to post, and click “POST” in the top right corner of your preview window. This will open a window for you to optionally choose additional classes you would like to post the message to. After selecting additional classes, click “Post Message” to post the message to the class website(s). DELETE — To delete existing draft messages, go to your “Drafts” folder, select the page you wish to delete, and click “DELETE” in the top right corner of your preview window. You may delete the message from the current class you are in or from all classes. Deleting from only the current class means the message will still exist in any other classes it was saved to. Deleting from all classes means the message will be permanently deleted.

Managing Pages To manage your Pages after you have drafts created or Pages published, go to the “Published” and “Draft” folders under Pages and use the buttons within the Preview Window to manage your pages. Managing Published Pages EDIT — To edit existing published pages, go to your “Published” folder, select the page you wish to edit, and click “EDIT” in the top right corner of your preview window. This will open up the publisher and you can make any changes needed to your page. UNPUBLISH – To unpublish a page, go to your “Published” folder, select the page you wish to edit, and click “UNPUBLISH” in the top right corner of your preview window. This will move your page from the “Published” folder to the “Drafts” folder and remove the page from the class website. ADD TO SIDEBAR — To add a shortcut link directly to a page on the sidebar of your class website, go to your “Published” folder, select the page you wish to edit, and click “ADD TO SIDEBAR” in the top right corner of your preview window. DELETE — To delete existing published pages, go to your “Published” folder, select the page you wish to delete, and click “DELETE” in the top right corner of your preview window. You may delete the page from the current class you are in or from all classes. Deleting from only the current class means the page will still exist in any other classes it was saved to. Managing Draft Pages EDIT — To edit existing draft pages, go to your “Drafts” folder, select the page you wish to edit, and click “EDIT” in the top right corner of your preview window. PUBLISH — To publish existing draft pages, go to your “Drafts” folder, select the page you wish to edit, and click “PUBLISH” in the top right corner of your preview window. This will open a window for you to optionally choose additional classes you would like to publish the page to. There is an additional option to “Place on Sidebar” which will create a shortcut on your Class Website directly to this page. The shortcut link will be placed below the links on teh right hand side of your Class Website. After selecting additional classes and indicating if you want a sidebar for this page, click “Publish Page” to publish the page to the class website(s). DELETE — To delete existing draft pages, go to your “Drafts” folder, select the page you wish to edit, and click “DELETE” in the top right corner of your preview window. You may delete the page from the current class you are in or from all classes. Deleting from only the current class means the page will still exist in any other classes it was saved to. Deleting from all classes means the page will be permanently deleted.
